series.

Ladies Club

Sudha Tendulkar will talk about the benefits of humor and laughter and how research proves that

laughter is truly the best medicine. She is a certified laughter leader of the Laughter Academy and will

guide us through laughter exercises and teach us about “Yogic Laughter”. Sudha conducts laughter

workshops for Mend-A-Heart, Pathway, Cerritos and Artesia Women’s Club, the Norwalk Senior Center,

Scleroderma Foundation, etc.

NAVROZE CELEBRATION: Saturday, March 19, 2016 Get ready for our first fun event of the year. Our Navroze celebrations will be held at the ZAC Center on

Saturday, March 19, 2016.

See the attached form and please RSVP, No Later than March 15. Program: Jashan -5:00 pm followed by Chasni Main Event: 7:00 pm Dinner: 8:00 pm

Event Pricing - Members: $35; Non-Members: $50; Children (5-10 ): $15; Children under 5 FREE.

Walk-a-thon: Sunday, April 24, 2016 Prayer Room Fundraiser – All are welcome. Bring your friends and neighbors. Registration starts

at 11:00 am. Walkers start at 12 noon. Minimum charge is $15 per person. Children under 5 are FREE.

Please see attached flyer for details and start getting your sponsors ready to make this the biggest and best

fundraiser ever. This is a community event outdoors that is fun for everyone. Flyers and sponsorship

forms available online or at the ZAC Center. Volunteers required for this event. Please contact Katy

PAST EVENTS

Ladies Club The Ladies Club met at the ZAC Center in Orange on December 6, 2015. Houtoxi Contractor and Ervad

Zarrir Bhandara presented Pranayama (breath control) and the practice of Yoga Asanas (postures). The

session was very well attended and everyone learnt a lot from the hands-on demonstrations by our

experts. After a long question and answer session, all the participants enjoyed a delicious potluck

lunch. Thank you to Houtoxi and Zarrir for educating our community.

New Year Eve’s Celebration This year the New Year's Eve was celebrated by the ZAC Family members at the ZAC Center which was

attended by 85 members with their children. The evening started with a beautifully decorated Arjani Hall

and with music, lights and strobes brought in by the DJ. This was further highlighted with homemade

super delicious appetizers and punch made by our talented program chair Prochi which was thoroughly

enjoyed and complemented by all present. The children got their share of juices and popcorn

made on the spot by Xerxes, who also arranged for entertainment for the kids.

The parents of young kids could freely enjoy the evening while their little ones were being looked after

by our volunteers.

DJ Joel completely took over with great music for the old and the young alike which had almost

everyone dancing on the floor till way past midnight!!

The audio visual screen in the Arjani Hall was alive with the New Year Eve celebrations going on

everywhere. Just before the New Year was rung in, everyone was on the dance floor to see the ball drop

on the screen at the stroke of twelve and the excitement culminated with everyone wishing each other a

very happy and prosperous 2016!!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations Maneck Bhujwala Maneck Bhujwala has been involved in interfaith organizations and representing the Zarthushti religion

and community in Northern and Southern California for over 25 years. We have been informed that

Maneck recently enrolled in a new online Masters degree program in Interfaith Action, with a

full scholarship, at Claremont Lincoln University, in Claremont, California, from October 2014 to

December 2015. In the Interfaith Action program, he gained practical insights into many different aspects

of interfaith and he now hopes to inspire our community to take interest in participating in Interfaith

Events. We wish Maneck all success in his noble endeavor.

Learn How to Play Mah Jong

Banoo Irani is offering to teach Mah Jong American version game to anyone interested in learning it. It

is a game played by 4 people but a group of at least 3 people can also play this game. It will be good to

teach a group of 4 and more so they start to play soon but willing to teach one person also at a time. If

Interested, please do call Banoo Irani at 714-761-8254 to schedule the timings and location (prefer ZAC

Center) with her to learn the game & be pro-active.

Condolences

Katie Dhabhar passed away peacefully in Torrance, CA on Dec 24 2015 after a long battle with

Parkinson’s disease. Katie was the wife of Dadi Dhabhar and mother of Daisy and Nevil, and grandmother

of Kate and Drew Layman. Katie and Dadi were the founding members of ZAGNY (Zoroastrian Assoc.

of Greater New York). After many years in the New York area the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and

then after retirement they moved to the Los Angeles area in 1998 to be closer to their son Nevil. They

have been members of ZAC since their arrival in our area. Katie had several interests and chief among

them was her love for cooking. Before the formative years of ZAGNY the Dhabhar family were part of

the Zoroastrian community in the New York area and were involved with twice yearly dinners that a small

group of Zoroastrians organized for the community, where Katie was the main chef directing the cooking.

The many messages of condolences received by her family are gratefully acknowledged.

May her soul rest in eternal peace and sincere condolences to the family.

Pervin Maneck Chichgar passed into the Loving Arms of Dadar Ahura Mazda at 11:16 am, on January

5th 2016. She was a loving wife to Maneck, an amazing mother to Zubin and Ferzin (daughter-in-law)

and a wonderful and caring grandmother to Yashna and Milad.

Our sincere condolences to the family.

Perin Irani suffered a series of strokes and passed away in San Diego on January 23rd at 6.15 pm,

surrounded by her extended family and close friends. She was 84years old.

Perin aunty was a sweet, gentle person and always had a ready smile for everyone. She will be greatly

missed by all who knew her.

The Atash Kadeh Project Donations are coming in as the word gets around that the construction is going on at a very good pace. If

the weather is nice we hope that the exterior will be done in the next 2-3 weeks. However, we are still

trying to gather funds to furnish the interior. Few items on our wish list are still outstanding and a few

more have been added to the list. We would love to have this project to be 100% participation of members

as far as donations are concerned. This project is the very soul of ZAC and deserves to have each and

every member’s name on the list. We understand that some of you may feel embarrassed to contribute

less but we assure you that even a small amount will make a difference because YOU will be part of the

project and the community. Please see the attached Donor list and let us know if we have made an error

in the amount you have donated.

membership for your children who are over 18. Help us with a donation for maintenance.

Early Bird registration now open until March 6. All events and program may be checked out on the

website. Plan to arrive on June 30 for on-site registration. Finals and closing ceremonies will be held on
