Example Projects in District 5
Zonta Club of Louisville
• Cities for CEDAW - A campaign to
implement a CEDAW ordinance in 100
cities by 2016.
– ZC of Louisville joined a coalition of 11 other
organizations to support Louisville’s approval of
CEDAW
– Coalition included City Councilwoman Tina
Ward-Pugh

Zonta Club of Toledo
• Silent Witness – wooden silhouette of a
victim of violence is displayed publicly
– ZC of Toledo sponsors a victim silhouette
each year, has encouraged members to
sponsor silhouettes, and has participated in
the silhouette unveiling.
– As part of 16 days of Activism, the club used
the silhouettes as part of a club event to
increase awareness
• Sponsor of Ohio’s Human Trafficking and
Social Justice conference
Zonta Club of Cincinnati
• Purple Light Walk/Purple People Bridge
Walk – Collaborative event to raise
awareness about domestic violence
• “She Screams Without Sound” - a
Candlelight Vigil for victims of domestic
violence killed in Hamilton County
• Members supported legislation against
human trafficking
Zonta Club of Columbus
• Supports awareness of human trafficking through:
– Distribute soap with human trafficking hotline
– Member participates on state HT task force
– Zonta table at Ohio HT Day event
– Hosted community forum on HT at OSU
– Hosted forum with Judge Herbert, who started CATCH
• Distributed brochures about domestic violence to salons
• Education about issues relating to women who are aging
Zonta Club of Hudson
• Held a domestic violence awareness
event with Michelle Knight
– Gave opportunity to explain about Zonta
International and the Zonta Club of Hudson
Zonta Club of Defiance
• Has held a breast cancer awareness
luncheon and run for 7 years
– Education oriented luncheon
– Information about women’s health issues at
state legislature included in race packets
Zonta Club of Springfield
• Established the “Woman of Distinction”
award to recognize a local woman who
has made a difference in the lives of
women in our community.
Zonta Club of Findlay
• Raised awareness of the issues of Human
Trafficking in NW Ohio through:
– Partnerships with a local trucking company,
Garner Trucking and Truckers Against
Trafficking (TAT)
– Partnership with The Center for Safe and
Healthy Children bringing power point
presentations to our youth in Hancock County
Schools helping the youth and the teachers
understand what to look for in a peer who is
being "groomed" for being trafficked.
