ECS Jumpstart - Zombie Apocalypse Challenge 2011

Getting to know Southampton…

Day 1

Walking from the SUSU Café towards

and through Southampton Common

when the zombies turned up! We ran

towards the Lake trying to escape,

thinking we could lose them in the

water but this turns out to be not

such a great idea as it soon becomes

apparent they don’t need to breathe.

They can walk under water! Our

escape route back to the SUSU Café

is cut off, we move on through the

woods where we managed to outrun

the zombies for a few hours as they

moved very slowly.

Rachel’s behaving a bit peculiar…

Day 2 – Day 7

Rachel chases us the whole way to the

pub - The Cowherds, we escape and

manage to barricade ourselves in by

using the broken up furniture to bar up

the windows and the doors. We stay

safe, the place is abandoned, we find safe, the place is abandoned, we find

food supplies, water and more furniture

to break and defend ourselves with. We

use the balcony to set off the fireworks

found in the basement hoping to get

help from outside. Zombies stop and

stare. After 5 days, the zombies cannot

be held back. We hide the supplies

inside, set off more fireworks and

carrying whatever we could, try to

escape towards the city.

Creeping out, we find Rachel has been hiding under the stairs at the back. She is fully

turned and we need to distract her to escape.

We use home made petrol bombs to

try and distract her hoping this would

work the same as fireworks.

Day 8

We run, looking for a safe place to hide

and wait out the infection, hoping

the supplies would last.

We find a radio and listen out for

sporadic messages from other survivors.

Day 9

We find Southampton abandoned… Palmerston Park is

eerily quiet and we move on quickly

Day 10We find our

next base – the

Southampton

City Walls –

Bargate

Gateway

Day 11We are safe but plan for getting more supplies and fighting off the zombie attacks

Two more survivors join us, we split into two groups; one holding the Bargate and the other will recapture The Cowherd Pub to save the remaining supplies.We abandon;

• Café SUSU – starting destination, large amount of people a lot of students already infected. And a lot of places for zombies to hide.

• Southampton Common Lake – first attack, zombies can walk underwater.

• Palmerston park – we ran through here but as there was so much open space there was no where to hide from the zombies. hide from the zombies.

• Bargate shopping centre – we watched this when manning our fort, the zombies were climbing all over the building’s and had taken full control of the surrounding area.

We hold and defend;

• Cowherds – the destination where was stayed safe for 5 days till the zombies

managed to break through our defences.

• Southampton City Wall –Bargate – we than used this destination for two days as

we managed to break in and observe the zombies movements from the top of

the fort.

We learn it is best to travel at night so the fireworks could have the full affect.

We run everywhere as the zombies could only travel at 2- 3 mph.

Six weeks later….
