W elcome to November Sorors! It was a joy to see all of you and your Ami-
cae at the 56th Atlantic Regional Leader-ship Conference and I hope that you en-joyed the fellowship and learning. See conference highlights inside. The Regional Director will distribute a list of the Region-al awards… Stay tuned!
In November, we celebrate our veterans! Please see page 9 for reminders regarding the Z-HOPE Initiatives. Each chap-ter and auxiliary should select an initiative.
Our Z-Lessons topic is Zeta Attire. Please take the quiz on page 2 and ensure that you wear the appropriate attire at all Sorority and Auxiliary events. To continue our embel-lishment, there will be State webinars on key topics. See page 4 for details.

Zeta Attire NJ Sorors and Amicae looked wonderful at the Regional Conference. It is very important that we remember to
wear our colors and the appropriate attire at Zeta events. Please take the quiz below to reinforce your knowledge.
Fill in the blanks with one of the following terms. Please check the 2013 Protocol Manual for the answers.

Parliamentary Review - Amendments in Motion Submitted by Titessa Smith
The proposed amendments and the disposition are summarized below:
Article XVII Section: 2 (amendment of previous Constitution)
To delete “Section 2- Suspension,” as bylaws cannot be suspended except under specified conditions. Bylaws V Article VI- Regional Structure- Motion Carried
To delete “Geographic Area Coordinators,” as we no longer have those positions. Bylaws V Article VII- State Structure-Motion failed
To delete “Geographic Area Coordinators,” as we no longer have those positions- Motion failed
Bylaws X Article XV- Budgets, Assessments, and Fees
To revise and add wording in order to accommodate the change in the month of the Regional Executive Board meeting from February to October and for chapters to be seated, “all chapter taxes, fees, and/or assessments must be paid no later than 60 days preceding the Regional Leadership Conference. No chapter taxes, fees as-sessments, and/ or late fees will be accepted at the Regional Conference or Executive Board Meeting”- Mo-tion carried
Bylaws X Article IV- States
To revise and add wording to include the locations of those chapters that were newly chartered in Belgium, Germany, and England.- Motion carried
Bylaws X Article VIII Section 1- Officers Elections
To revise the wording to state that on a regional level, a state shall not have more than two elected officers – Motion carried
To add that time should be set aside for election of officers except where there is only one person running. –Motion failed
Bylaws X Article XI Section 2b- Election Committee
To add that conducting the election of officers by secret ballot, except where there is only one person run-ning. If only one person is nominated and the bylaws do not require that a ballot vote nominee is elected, thus the nominee is elected, thus effecting the election by unanimous consent or “acclamation.” The motion to close nomination cannot be used as a means of moving the election of the candidate in such case. - Motion failed
Bylaws X Article XII Section I- Committees
To revise and add in Budget & Finance and Protocol under Standing Committees in Section 1; and Awards, Bylaws, DOARS, Elections, Fundraising, Necrology, Nominations, Recommendations, Resolutions, Schol-arships, and Zeta Doves under Special Committees in Section 2 as they are all functioning committees of the Atlantic Region. -Motion failed

itÇxáát XA [tÅ|ÄàÉÇ The President of Omicron Omicron Zeta Chapter, Soror Vanessa E. Hamilton, was initiated into Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in September 2001. Vanessa received her Bachelor degree in Special Education from Rowan University and her Masters degree in Educational Admin-istration from Cheyney University. Vanessa currently works in the Special Education De-partment for Camden City School District. Soror Hamilton has held the positions of Treasur-er, Anti-Grammateus, Youth Advisor, and Youth Coordinator during her 14 years of uninter-rupted service to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Omicron Omicron Zeta chapter.
WxÇ|áx Wtä|á@fÅ|à{ Soror Denise Davis-Smith was initiated into the Sorority, Fall 1985 in Omicron Mu Chapter, Buffalo State College. She is a Life Member and a Charter member of Omega Mu Zeta Chapter. Soror Davis-Smith also serves the State of NJ as Zeta-Sigma Liaison, North. Soror Davis-Smith and her two dogs, Cole and Cookie resides in Cranbury, NJ.
V{tá|àç _A `vWÉÇtÄw Soror Chasity L. McDonald is a graduate of Seton Hall University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management concentrating in finance with a minor in Communication. A few years later, she pursued her MBA in the University of Phoenix online graduate program. She is a Client Service Representative in the Prime Brokerage Middle Office department for J.P. Morgan Chase. Soror McDonald became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on November 19, 2003 via the Psi Pi chapter of Seton Hall University. She has maintained uninterrupted financial and active membership since induction. She is the State of New Jersey’s Anti-Grammateus and a Charter Member of Alpha Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter serving as President.
V{xÜ|x `vVtÇÇ Soror Cherie McCann became a Zeta in fall 1989, at Glassboro State College as a member of Rho Theta Chapter. Community service is and has always been near and dear to her heart. She volunteers at food banks, and has participated In funding raising events, such as Urban Promise's Pedal for Promise, Bike for Bancroft, and the American Cancer Society's Bike-a-thons. When opportunity allows she enjoys exercising, singing, dancing and motorcycle rid-ing! Soror McCann takes pride in being an educator in Camden City for over fifteen years.

U|ÄÄ|x ]A Ut|Äxç Soror Billie J. Bailey is a Life Member of Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter where she was initiated on May 13, 2006. Soror Bailey is employed by Kean University since 2003 as an Academic Advisor/Counselor. She became a Program Manager/Coordinator in 2012 managing two operating budgets. For the past three years, Soror Bailey has been Treasurer of Kean Federation of Teachers, a unionized environment with more than 1,300 members and agency fee payers. She is an Executive Board Member holding two positions: Treasurer and Budget Audit Chair. As Treasurer, she uses General Principles of Accounting (GPA) to produce: general ledger balance sheets, two-year comparative reports, income statements, op-erating budgets, deposit checks, distribute stipends to Executive Board Members, and write checks to: businesses, vendors, and office personnel. Zeta experience, she served as 3rd Anti-Basileus in HOZ,
Atlantic Region appointments, State Scholarship Chair, Z-HOPE Chair, and Anti-Hazing Chair. Soror Bailey is a wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and godmother. She is a member of St. Peter's Primitive Baptist Church in Neptune, NJ.
fàtvç f|ÅÅÉÇá Soror Stacy Simmons was initiated in Psi Lambda Chapter in 1991 and has proudly served the Sorority for 24 uninterrupted years. In 2001 she became a charter member of her current chapter, Sigma Zeta Zeta. Currently she is Sigma Zeta Zeta's Tamias and Finance Committee Chairperson. Previously she has served as Basileus and Tamias Grammateus. Soror Simmons has a BS in accounting from Bloom-field College and a MBA with a concentration in Project Management and Accounting from Keller School of Management. Professionally Soror Simmons workers in the Accounting department, at one of the top Law Firms in New York City, as a Legal Billing Specialist.
f{xÄÄç YÜxçàtá Soror Freytas became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on February 14, 1988, joining Delta Del-ta chapter at Lincoln University. Shelly was reclaimed to Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter of Newark, NJ, in 1993 and again in 2006. Shelly has served Zeta in several capacities, including the State of New Jer-sey Budget Chair, and the immediate past Basileus of Gamma Omicron Zeta. Also a graduate of NJIT, Shelly is employed as a Senior Project Manager for Alvogen, a multinational pharmaceutical company. Shelly has one daughter, Amicette Leah Ciara Freytas.
_çàtÇwt mxÄÄÇxÜ A rising trailblazer Soror Lytanda Zellner committed to Zeta principles as a member of Eta Omicron Zeta Chapter on March 27, 2015. As an accomplished finance and accounting professional, Lytanda is a lead accountant manager, at AT&T in Bedminster, N.J. Her strong ambition and drive for learning, in-spiring and helping others extends to her dedicated work ethic in finance at AT&T and Zeta. Lytanda will promote Scholarship and Service as a member of HOZ’s Scholarship, Z-Hope and MIP commit-tees. Soror Zellner will serve as HOZ’s Chapter’s Financial Secretary and will serve as financial mem-ber of the State Audit Committee

Z-E-T-A (Zealous Engaged Talented Awesome) Youth Corner
Omicron Omicron Zeta Youth Auxiliary Mothers and Daughters Meeting the Basic Needs of Many On August 6, 2015, Archonette Annaya Baynes and her mother, Ms. Ayanna Baynes, a former Archonette donated 529 new and slightly used books, 13
books on tape and 35 magazines to Ronald McDonald House of South Jersey. The facility has book shelves on each floor that are in need of books for children and adults to read. The Director stated that all of the books are greatly appreciated. Archonette, Annaya Baynes enjoys collecting books, which is one for the youth strands. Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey provides a home-away-from-home to families of seriously ill and traumatically injured children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and operates 11 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms within pediatric units of hospitals across the Southern New Jersey region.
In addition, to the Baynes family, Amicette Rebekah Green and her mother Soror Mikala Allen-Green collected gently used shoes. They collected 175 pairs of gently used shoes from friends and family. The shoes were donated to ShoeBox Recycling who distributes them for resale or reuse at various marketplaces in developing countries around the world. Shoe recycling is an environmentally sound solutions for the discarding of shoes.

#YearOfTheUG The Sorors of Rho Rho Zeta have begun their service to their Adopt A School Quarter Mile Lane School. On Wednesday September 30th we did our presentation of Book Bags. We also participated in Reading and Serving breakfast to the grandparents of the students during the Grandparent's Reading and Poetry Breakfast.

The Zeta Amicae of Moorestown held their Zeta Amicae Awareness Day with a bowling party at the Burlington Lanes in Mt. Laurel, NJ on Friday, September 26th. Our Amicae Friends collected more than 100 cans of food. As you can see, a fun time was had by all.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT On Thursday September 16th Joyce Kilmer Middle School of
Trenton, NJ, held it’s back to school night Epsilon Xi Zeta
Chapter hosted this event by giving away 4 book bags, passing
out Emergency Preparedness Information to the parents and
providing refreshments and decorations. The school year start-
ed off with the teachers and principal receiving survival kits,
which was put into their mailboxes on the first day of school.
School supplies from the teacher’s supply list was also given to
the school.

BOWLING WITH THE AMICAE
On Saturday September 26th Zeta Amicae of Princeton-Trenton
held a Bowling event for Amicae Awareness. The sponsoring
graduate chapter supported the event. The event was held to
introduce the Amicae to the community and to collect tissues
and hand sanitizer for Epsilon Xi Zeta Chapter Adopt A School
Joyce Kilmer Middle School in Trenton, NJ.

Grandparent and Me Health Fair The Zetas and Amicae of Omicron
Omicron Chapter participated in the Grandparent and Me Health Fair in Williamstown on Saturday, Septem-
ber 19th. The chapter set up two tables with information on SIDS, Preterm
labor, brain aneurysm and the Go4Life Senior exercise program. A
brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning out of a blood vessel in the brain. Women are more likely to develop brain aneurysms than men. The chapter took this on as a chapter initiative because Amica Cynthia Bryant and
Soror Yolanda Jenkins had brain aneurysms.

Gamma Nu Zeta Chapter participated in serving those in need at Ca-thedral Kitchen! One of our many initiatives where we are consist-ently serving the needs of Camden and Camden County.
Gamma Nu Zeta Chapter enjoyed seeing our Sorors and Amicae at the #ARLC2015! We took lots of pics, fellow-shipped, and handled the Business of Zeta! Looking for-ward to seeing everyone in 2017!
The ladies of Gamma Nu Zeta Chapter hosted a Cake Tasting for the seniors at Cooper River Park. The resi-dents enjoyed tasting different kinds of cake and were gracious that the Zetas spent their evening with them! #ElderCare

For the 10th year in row the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter set out to support the Donna T. Darien Sickle Cell Foundation by participating in their annual Sickle Walk Fundraiser and community fair. This year on Sept 19, 2015 the members of Gamma Omicron Zeta chapters supported the DTD Foundation in many ways including participating in the walk, donating to the foundation, setting up an information table at the community fair, and volunteering at the registration table.
The chapter raised close to $500 to donate to the sickle foundation, and they promoted 2 of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s largest initiatives, Z-HOPE and Social Action. Gamma Omicron Zeta chapter provided facts about nutritious eating and granola bars for the walkers and their families, and provided information about National Voter Registration Day and facts about voter registration rights. 20 members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority were in attendance at the event including Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter members, their sponsoring undergraduate chapter Psi Pi chapter mem-bers, visiting Sorors, and members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
GOZ TO SUPPORT SICKLE CELL
The Finer Women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter hon-ored the work and the services of the Bravest and Finest Firefighters and Police Officers of Essex County, New Jersey. During GAMMA OMICRON ZETA’s first “An Evening with the Stars” ceremony on September 19, 2015 at the Iberia Restaurant in Newark, New Jersey, more than 120 attendees gathered to witness honors being given to those who protect, serve, and oftentimes lay down their lives. The men and women hon-ored were selected by their leadership to receive accolades for going above and be-yond their call of duty, in categories of Act of Valor and Acts of Services.
The event was widely attended by friends, family, the sisters of Gamma Omicron Zeta and several many notable officials in the Essex County Area. In attendance from
