Research rationale
• Recently, researchers have shown an increased interest in delinquent behaviour that occurs in and around the school premises.
• There is also a continued upheld principle that learning and teaching in order for it to take place it needs a safe and protected environment.
• Due to school violence other learners becomes underprepared

Research Design This article has taken a general scientific approach that displays a strong positivistic orientation.
It is both exploratory and descriptive in nature and conception
According to Maxfield and Babbie (1998:86) in criminal justice research a researcher has a choice from the three methods
The analytical research method has been adopted and it has been supplemented by mass observation in order to allow statistical presentation.
A purposive (judgemental) sampling technique was employed to solicit data from selected Senior Secondary in the Mthatha District of Education.

Discussion o The findings reveals that there is a significant number of respondents
which comes from poor socio-economic backgrounds
o These children bring their personal problems at school.
o Poor socio-economic status is one of the predictors of school violence
o It has also emerged that there is a breakdown in traditional kinship
o The study has also revealed that there is a lack of relationship between learners and educators
![Page 22: Zenzile school violence[2] · Presentation Layout 1. Introduction 2. Aims of the study 3. Research rationale 4. Research design 5. Spatial delimitation 6. Findings](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022030903/5b40d2c07f8b9af6438dabea/html5/thumbnails/22.jpg)
Recommendations & Conclusion
o This study has found that generally school is the principal institution that has the contact with the child outside the home.
o School has a plausible role of teaching children values and attitudes
o There should also be interaction between the family and the school
o Cooperation between the family and the school can be of enormous benefit.

Recommendations & Conclusion
o It brings about the psychological feeling that the community has adopted ownership of the school
o School may not fulfil the role of socialising a child on its own
o Inculcation of moral values
