Stabilize: Get Your

Head Above Water

TAKE A DEEP BREATH!

First & Foremost

Stabilize: Get Your Head Above Water

• Resolve any remaining issues

• Address any immediate post Go Live tasks

• Gather & organize project artifacts

• Conduct an honest & open lessons learned

And Most Importantly:

Strategize: Map Out

Your Post Upgrade

Journey

Map Out Your Post Upgrade Journey

• What are your goals?

Map Out Your Post Upgrade Journey

• Not knowing is ok!

– But its important to find out

1Start a listening campaign to find out what employees believe is preventing them from being more productive

2Use pulse surveys to get what's on top of everyone's mind

3Conduct employee journey mapping exercises to find systemic problems that are more difficult to see

Trends & Common Goals we encounter:

Leverage New Tech to Retire Old Tech

Improve Knowledge Management & Documentation

(Especially around customizations)

Develop & Execute a Mobile Strategy

(Or refocus your current one)

Gain Better Insights & Actions from Data

Improve Customer Experience & Employee

Engagement

Explore the use of Emerging Tech

(Or take existing pilots to Production)

Optimize: Put The

New Tools To Use

New tools In the Toolbox

1 Modernize your Integrations

2 Proactive vs Reactive

3 Automate Processes

4 User Experience

Modernizing Your

Integrations

Modernize Your Integrations

Batch Flat File Integrations

•Reliance on delimited files & FTP Locations

•High Development & Maintenance Costs

•Not Real Time

•Can Hog up System Resources

•Non Existent Error Handling & Notification capabilities

Web services/RTE/XML Interoperability

•Real Time Data Interchanges using XML & Real Time Events

•High Development Costs & Effort

•Limited Error Handling & Notification Capabilities

•Growing requirements & Scalability come at a high cost

•Maintenance requires specialized skillset - JAVA & SOAP

REST & Orchestration Microservices

•Real time data interchanges using JSON over text

•Extremely Lightweight –JSON is just simple text

•No WSDL Required!

•Minimal development efforts due to Orchestration Studio

•Tremendous Error Handling & Notification Capabilities

•Email, Text, Notification, and even a WC Message

•Can be easily & quickly scaled as requirements grow

Orchestrate your integrations

• Orchestrator Connections & Connector Service Requests

– JSON over REST – Greatest thing since sliced bread

• Natively supported by Orchestrator!

• Objects Required:

– Outbound – Connector Service Request

– Inbound – None!

Inbound Integrations (JDE = Receiving System)

Outbound Integrations (JDE = Sending System)

Create Microservices within Orchestrator to execute functions within JDE

Communicate between External APIs/Systems/Databases

Define Inbound parameters to execute orchestrations on

Send Data to other systems to trigger API’s and receive responses

Expose Orchestration as consumable microservices to external systems

Utilize API Response to execute services within JDE

Connect to External RESTful APIs

Connect to External Databases

Connect to other orchestrations or notifications

Inbound Integrations using Orchestrator

19

Proactive vs

Reactive

• Heavy Reliance on daily/weekly/monthly

reports

• Can require the creation of custom UBE’s

• LOE for creation & cost to maintain are high

• Difficult to scale as requirements change

and grow

• Reporting Tools make this easier but still

don’t solve the problem

• Watchlists are trigger based

• 100% User definable

• Easy to maintain and easy to change as

needs grow

• Build thresholds which can save time

• No need to review every single one, only

the ones requiring actions

• Use notifications to get real time

notifications on actionable tasks

Use Watchlists & Notifications to Alert & Analyze

Automation

Automation Journey

Past: Subsystem/Batch automation

•Can hog system resources

•Limited Error handling

•Limited notification capability

•Time consuming to develop & maintain

•Building Decision making capability requires high LOE

Current World: Robotic Process Automation

•Automate rote and repetitive tasks using Bots

•Trigger bots execute actions based on pre defined conditions

•Build in light decision making into RPA process

•Great stepping stone to embedding AI building blocks in your enterprise

•Notify users of exceptions, or actionable items requiring their human intelligence

Near Future: Artificial Intelligence using NLP/ML

•Create AI Programs which can communicate with your customers and employees

•Monitor & Analyze data to find exceptions, inefficiencies, and inconsistencies

•Make decisions based on prior learned events and execute actions

•Replace the decision making workforce with a decision approving workforce

RPA in JDE

• RPA – Robotic Process Automation– Forrester predicts in 2019 RPA will add 500,000 "digital workers" in the US

• Orchestrator is an amazing & free RPA tool!

– Low Code Solution

– Can be used to automate test cases

– Can automate numerous repetitive tasks – Let users focus on tasks that require their skills and intelligence

• Build light decision making and exception handling using Rules

• Examples:

– AP Video

Making progress, every day, on the work employees know is most important is the most critical factor in their ongoing engagement. It’s more important than recognition, meaningful work, and social support.

committed, enthusiastic)

“Its All About Experience”

• Life lesson from 2008

– People care about the experience!

• Need to focus on how to improve employee experience

– Why?

• How can JDE help improve User experience

– Enterprise Search – Underrated Feature

– Form Personalization & extension – Underutilized feature

– Notifications

– Composite Application Framework EnterpriseOne (Café One)

Forrester’s EX research shows that many companies improved both customer experience and financial performance with employee- facing technology investments

EnterpriseOne Search

Searching through multiple JDE Forms for information has issues

EnterpriseOne Search allows users to search through multiple tables and business views based on keywords

Café One – Its like multiple monitors

• Café One – Composite Application Framework Enterprise One

– Display 2 or more JDE applications or web pages within one screen

• Dynamically link data from one application to another

Form Personalization

There are 8 Tabs on the P01012 Application that users have to click through – with a total of 82 controls displayed

This can be consolidated and the controls can be reduced by half for most users

Dream Big

Artificial Intelligence in JDE

• Orchestrator is the stepping stone to Artificial Intelligence in JDE

– Creates linkage between traditional RPA and Machine learning models on cloud

platforms

– ERP System provides the data to the AI Program

– Machine learning platform makes decisions

– JDE RPA Platform (Orchestrator) executes decisions

• Integrate Natural Language Processing with Machine learning to utilize

chatbots with JDE

– Customer or Employees can ask Chatbot questions

– NLP Engine can decipher and translate and pass the appropriate request to the

Orchestrator APIs

– Provide customer with a response based on orchestration response

Mobility is coming back to the forefront

• Mobile applications are more relevant now than ever before

– JDE has numerous standard out of the box mobile applications

• But they have limitations and don’t meet every customers requirements

• Thee can be downloaded for free on Apple & Android App Stores

• Limited to the functionality that is included, cant be changed, modified or enhanced even

to support standard functionality

• JDE AIS & orchestrator open up new possibilities for Mobile rollout of JDE

– AIS can expose any JDE functionality as an API

– Orchestrator can be used to create JDE functionality as stateless microservices

– These services can be consumed by a mobile app or web page very easily to

provide users with a mobile friendly UI

IOT & Blockchain

• IOT Sensors are becoming commonplace in Warehouses and shop floors

– JDE orchestrator is a native IOT connections

– IOT pilots are starting to hit production environments and showing great promise

• Blockchain

– Blockchain still has a way to go

– The technology is not completely proven out but there are some great use cases

– Will have more updates on this at future sessions as Blockchain plays a greater role

in IT Emerging technology journeys

Summary
