5 Minutes With God – Everyday

THIS WEEK READ DAYS 118-124

The New Testament is built on the foundation of the story told in the Gospels.

That Paul traveled with Luke, who wrote Luke and Acts, helps give us insight into the

things Paul focused on his letters. The fact that Mark may have followed Peter and

used his memories to write that Gospel tells us much about Peter’s life and helps us

understand 1 and 2 Peter. Matthew’s dedication to the Jewish population gives depth to

the messages of Hebrews and James. John’s passionate recollection of his time with

the Master illuminates his words to the churches in 1, 2, 3 John and Revelation. Jude

was the brother of Jesus, and that simple letter reflects a humility born from growing up

around Christ.

It all flows from understanding how these followers saw Jesus– during his life as

well as after his resurrection. How that vision must have changed after that Sunday

morning when the tomb was empty! Knowing the same thing, we can understand Jesus

in a meaningful way today even though we’re 2,000 years removed from those events

because they come alive as we read them anew in the Gospel!

Make your 5 minutes with God a special time this week. It will change your life–

if you do it everyday. I hope you are blessed as you read!

With Love, Adam

Fanny Crosby

The grave of Fanny Crosby, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, has a simple marker that reads, “Aunt Fanny—She Hath Done What She Could.”

Fanny Crosby was blind from six weeks of age because of a mistreatment by a man claiming to be a doctor. Yet she wrote more than 9000 hymns such as: Blessed Assurance; All the Way My Savior Leads Me; I Am Thine O Lord; Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross; Praise Him, Praise Him; Rescue the Perishing; To God Be the Glory; and Tell Me the Story of Jesus, to name a few. Although blind, she was the guest of six presidents and a personal friend of Grover Cleveland. Her 9000 hymns were set to music by every popular American tunesmith of the nineteenth century and still blesses the Church of Jesus Christ in our day. Someone has said, “It doesn't’ take much of a man to be used by God. It just takes all of Him.” —Glad Tidings of Good Things “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” —Isaiah 6:8
