Call to Purpose

Leader: The purpose of the Youth Missionary Society is and remains: Youth: We are members of the Youth Missionary Society. God has redeemed us and

made us His own. He sanctifies us and consecrates us and sends us out into the world on His mission.

 All:The words Jesus spoke to His disciples applies to us all, as the Father has

sent me, I am sending you. As Paul wrote, we are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

 Leader: To enlist the young people of the A.M.E. Zion Church and

community in active missionary service;

Youth: As sisters and brothers in Christ, we are called to help and encourage one another. We have a mission!

 All:Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially

to those who belong to the family of believers. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.

Leader: To provide the young people opportunities to accept Christ Jesus as Lord of their lives and continue to grow into mature Christians;

 Youth:We are concerned with strengthening relationships with God. It is He who gives us

identity. It is He who is the source of our power. Without God, we are nothing. We have a mission!

 All: We must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith; and in all

things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

Leader: To encourage the study of the missionary message of the Bible and world missions;

 Youth:We avail ourselves of the gifts God offers us in Word and Sacrament. We are called

to discover and use these gifts to reach out to others. We have a mission! All: God has given each of us unique gifts. There are different kinds of gifts, but

the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Page 4: Youth  Missionary  Society

Leader: To raise funds for evangelization in the mission fields at home and abroad; and take an interest in the betterment of civic and social conditions in the community.

 Youth: Our mission does not stop at the boundaries of the Youth

Missionary Society. As Jesus sent His disciples into the world, so He also sends us. We have a mission!

 All: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing

them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

 Youth: Christ for every youth, every youth for Christ. We have a

mission!
