Newcomen Society, named as our street is, after Thomas

Newcomen, inventor of the atmospheric steam engine and

one of the leaders of the Industrial Revolution. The Newcomen

Society was devoted to “the study of material history” and

the recognition of achievement in American business.

STUDIOetc is full of multiple

personalities. In fact, you

might call us a multitude of

multi-talented, multi-faceted

multi-taskers. Some of us even

answer to multiple names and

wear multiple hats. And coats.

In keeping with Newcomen tradition, STUDIOetc is committed

to bringing new ideas to reality. After purchasing the historic

property in 2003, our aim was to preserve its architectural

integrity while exercising practical repurposing of space.

Established as a model green space, STUDIOetc uses 100%

renewable electricity and is heated by biofuel. As you'll

see throughout, our application of fresh perspectives to

old methods is part of what makes us uniquely us.
