Your Program

As our guests at the Okonjima Nature Reserve, you can tailor your stay according to your interests and free time. Having said that, the Okonjima management and Head-Guide place great emphasis on ensuring that all guests have as much opportunity as possible to experience our many trails in the time they have available during their stay, and may place you on specific trails to achieve this.. These are some examples of what you may expect during the different lengths of stay with us:

ONE NIGHT @ OKONJIMA

Day 1 Recommended check-in time: 12:00pm – 15:00pm • Afternoon tea, coffee and cake: Early evening, pre dinner:

• Join a game-drive, focusing on finding the elusive leopard! Spend some time observing their behaviour until night falls, followed by the traditional sundowner. AND • If you stay at BUSH CAMP: Join us, after dinner, on a guided night-drive through the nature reserve, when the large carnivores typically hunt.

OR Visit a hide in the hope of watching nightlife go about their business, such as porcupines, honey-badgers and brown hyaena, amongst other nocturnal animals. • If you stay at PLAINS CAMP: Join us, after dinner, on a guided night-drive through the nature reserve, when the large carnivores typically hunt.

TWO NIGHTS @ OKONJIMA

Day 1: • Recommended check-in time: 12:00pm – 15:00pm • Afternoon tea, coffee and cake: Early evening, pre dinner: • Join a game-drive, focusing on finding the elusive leopard! Spend some time observing their behaviour until night falls, followed by the traditional sundowner. OR • Experience a guided, bush adventure, walking through the acacia thickets, riverine edges or open plains in search of wildlife - the big and the small. Our goal will be to track the brown or spotted hyaena, perhaps a pangolin, or a rhino on foot! Followed up with the traditional sundowner.

AND, If you stay at BUSH CAMP: • Join us, after dinner, for a guided night drive through the nature reserve when the large carnivores typically hunt. OR Visit a hide in the hope of watching nightlife go about their business such as porcupines, honey-badgers, brown hyaena and caracals, amongst other nocturnal animals. • If you stay at PLAINS CAMP: Join us, after dinner, on a guided night-drive through the nature reserve, when the large carnivores typically hunt.

OR • Experience a guided, bush adventure, walking through the acacia thickets, riverine edges or open plains in search of wildlife - the big and the small. Our goal will be to track the brown or spotted hyena, perhaps a pangolin, or a rhino on foot! Observe and wonder at various game in their natural environment! Taking your own private vehicles, the 4 – 6km trails start a short drive from the lodge. (The Bush Camp and Bush Suite guests can start the Giraffe trail from their Lodge location) PM: • Join a guided “off the beaten track” experience – a reality very different from yours. This easy combination of a short walking trail and nature drive in the reserve, is especially loved by our younger guests as a ‘family’ experience due to the interactive and informative demonstrations. This experience, will give you an exciting glimpse of Culture, Flora and Fauna. OR • Participate, on-foot, in radio tracking of rehabilitated Spotted and/or Brown Hyena.
