It is located in New York, but there are two other “big” Liberties so to speak.

• The original ‘life size’ cast of the Statue of Liberty stands in the flower garden of Paris in the Luxembourg Gardens. She stands approximately 15 feet high.

• Another, yet larger statue resides on the tiny island in the Seine River. This statue is approximately 35 feet. It was originally placed so that it faced the Eiffel Tower, so not to have it’s back to the Élysée Palace. However, it’s creator Bartholdi was most upset that it did not face the New York location of the Statue of Liberty. With persistence, Batholdi finally was able to get the statue turned to face America at the time of the World's Fair in Paris in 1889.

• The most famous statue of course is in America. The Statue of Liberty, located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, stands over 151 feet tall. The statue was a gift to America from the French in honor of the Centennial of American independence. The official title is ‘Liberty Enlightening the World’, but is known to the world as ‘The Statue of Liberty’.

• In 1885 other replicas were installed at Hanoi, Vietnam and Bordeaux, France.
