Bathrooms are an essential part of any home, especially when it comes to buying and selling a home. They’re impossible to ignore and one of the first things buyers look at. Despite this, it’s simple for homeowners to forget how important these rooms are.Bathroom decor can quickly go wrong.

Homeowners can boost the benefits of their sale with these four tips on the most unappealing bathroom trends around.

1. Color Toilets and SinksToilets and sinks in colors like rose pink or seafoam green were incredibly popular years ago, but they’re still loved by many people who enjoy a vintage look or just love bright spaces. However, homeowners have a greater potential to make more money faster if they appeal to a wide range of buyers.

Bathrooms decorated in a classic style are great looking to most people, making them more likely to put in an offer.

2. Peel and Paste Wall PaperModern peel and paste wall paper is a new trend that’s taken over many interior design websites and stores. It’s available in countless prints, colors and patterns and its popularity continues to grow.Despite this, it’s difficult to find a style that’s sought after by the majority of buyers. Yellow polka dot cabinets may be hip, but it’s usually best for homeowners to decorate in neutral colors and traditional materials.

3. CarpetCarpet is warm and feels great, but there are several drawbacks to decorating with this trend. Buyers know the potential hassle of wall-to-

wall carpet, which may reduce the price of their offer or stop them from buying at all.Buyers like stress-free flooring that’s difficult to stain, so homeowners should consider using easy-to-clean materials in their bathrooms.

4. Unusual Tile and Linoleum FlooringUnusual tile colors and patterns can look outdated, while linoleum flooring can look inexpensive. Unfortunately, neither results are attractive to buyers. To get the most out of their property, homeowner s shou ld cons ide r replacing the flooring with hardwood or a convincing laminate alternative.

Did you know? The oldest public school in the US was founded in 1635, and

5 of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence graduated from this school, Benjamin Franklin, John

Hancock, Robert Treat Paine, Samuel Adams and William Hopper. It is Boston’s Latin School.

Before the school calendar became national, geography determined when students attended classes. In small, rural areas, school went from December to March and May to

August so that kids could help plant in the spring and harvest in the fall.

It’s official. The playground equipment has been ordered! We are looking at installing everything in AUGUST. Right now our dates are tentatively August 24, 25 and 26. The installation must run the course of 3 days to allow for proper curing of concrete, etc. Remember-this is a community build and it is saving us a lot of money, thus we need to do what we can to have the right people there to get this done.

Here is what we will need:· 10-15 ready, willing and able volunteers on the above dates. Work days will begin at 7AM and run to 4:30PM on all three days. Please let us

know who we can count on here. · Materials - Below is a materials list of things that we need to provide. Please read through the list and let us know if you have any of the items listed that you would lend us for the duration of the project. A lot of the heavy machinery Tim Salzbrenner already has and will lend to the project. · Food - This crew is going to need sustenance. We will need volunteers to handle a light breakfast each day and then a lunch around 11-11:30 each day. This is the perfect job for those that aren’t interested in pouring concrete. · Port-a-potty - We will get this set up, but wanted the helpers to know it’s being handled.· Early in the week (Monday and Tuesday) we will need to do some equipment sorting. This will move things along faster during the build. We will need a few people for this. We had a very informative meeting with Crouch on July 12, 2016 and sorted out a

good deal of questions. They will have a crew of 4 or so that will help out with the build as well. They suggest nobody under the age of 18 on the job site. It will be a construction site, thus we will want it to be safe and productive. Just a bonus to everyone that volunteers….Crouch Recreation has FREE T-Shirts for the crew! J Now if you didn’t want to volunteer before I bet you do now!

Please contact Laura Hansen if you have any further questions or if you would like to sign up to [email protected]

Meet The AAHA Board MembersLyle Krueger served our country for 20 years and today has a very strong volunteer commitment to our neighborhood. Our new President has been seen climbing trees to trim dead branches in Cul-de-, investigating and helping settle neighbor disputes, overseeing meetings and pushing for park and entrance improvements. Lyle was born and raised on a farm in Malcolm, NE later moving to Lincoln where he graduated from Lincoln High School. He served 20 years in the Navy where he was stationed at San Diego, San Francisco, Dallas, Omaha and the Phillipines. He worked mostly in Supplies and Logistics before moving

over to recruiting. Following his Navy career, Lyle attended UNO and got a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) taking those skills to Mutual of Omaha and Transaction Application Group (TAG) until retiring in 2010. He is a member of the American Legion Post #374 in Millard, American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard Riders where he participates in veteran funerals and parades. Lyle met his wife Shirley (a Plattsmouth Graduate) while country dancing at Omaha's Guitars and Cadillacs. They married in January of 1998 and moved to their current home in Armbrust Acres in April of that year.

Before Andrew Fereday and his wife AnnMarie moved to Armbrust Acres they lived in Chicago, Illinois. Andrew is originally from Waterloo. He went to Creighton University and graduated in 2004. They have two beautiful sons named Henry (4), born in July 2012and Peter (1) born in 2015. Andrew works for

Silverstone Group as the Director of Environmental Risk Services. He is a volunteer for both the Teammates Mentoring Program and Junior Achievement. As an avid sports fan, Andrew enjoys watching Creighton Bluejay basketball, Notre Dame Football and the Chicago Cubs

Nancy Sayles joined the board in 2012 to get more involved in her neighborhood and loves helping others get involved. As of July 8, 2016 she is a proud U.S. Citizen. She and her husband, Daniel (a native of Omaha) have

two boys Cayden (7) and Chayce (6). Nancy grew up in a small town of 1,000 on the Eastern German border right next to Poland. Overgrown trees and shrubs endanger us all when they block our view of traffic signs, pedestrians, or other vehicles. It is t h e a d j a c e n t p r o p e r t y o w n e r ' s responsibility to keep trees and other plants in the right-of-way (the planting strip between the sidewalk and the curb) f rom blocking v is ib i l i ty wi th in transportation corridors. It is also the adjacent property owner's responsibility to repair any sidewalk damage caused by street trees. Remember that a free pruning permit from Urban Forestry is required before any tree pruning in the planting strip or right-of-way.

Some mature trees can develop large drooping branches if they are not cared for properly. There is nothing inherently wrong with this tree form. However, development of large low drooping branches in urban and suburban landscapes can be problematic when they have to be removed because they are in the way.Making pruning cuts through old wood opens up a huge portion of the trunk to potential decay (see photo). This can result in hollow columns of decayed or missing wood inside the trunk.Prevent branches from growing to a large size by pruning the tree at regular intervals. Envision the tree 10 to 20 years from now. Will low branches droop as they grow and be too close to the ground? If that will be the case, reduce their length now, or remove them entirely, so that branches higher in the tree can grow larger. This technique pushes growth higher up into the canopy. As a result, the tree develops a form closer to the form found in the forest, which is a form the tree can deal with better. The goal for large-

maturing shade trees is for the lowest branches to be about 15’ to 20’ from the ground.

Maha's got a great beat. You can totally dance to it. Even if the only part of your body moving is your eyebrows, it really doesn't matter so long as something's moving and music's playing. Dust off those dancing shoes and start working on your Maha moves. There's plenty of time to work out the kinks.
