At the end of September,Maryland celebrated its Home Grown School Lunch Week. At lunchtime during this week, students inPrince George's County were able to enjoy apples from Baugher's Orchard in Westminster, MD, aswell as kale, cabbage, watermelon, and peppers from the County's own Miller Farms in Clinton, MD. In addition, students across PrinceGeorge's county are continuing to learnabout local foods through the FoodSupplement Nutrition Education (FSNE)program. In celebration of Farm to Schoolmonth, students will learn about how eatingfoods that are grown locally and in seasoncan often taste better. Students will samplelocally grown apples and compare them toapples purchased at the store. Somestudents will read How Did That Get in MyLunchbox? by Christine Butterworth.
