Get the LookYour guide to re-creating your perfect home style
WelcomeWelcome to the ‘Get the Look’ video series. In this series, Australian Interior Designer and Media Personality James Treble talks through a range of in-demand, designer house styles, and how to achieve these looks in your own home.
From selecting a brick for your home’s exterior to choosing a paver for your outdoor living area, this series will have you covered at every step of your new home build or renovation.

Palm SpringsThe Palm Springs style is all about creating cohesion between the indoors & outdoors. The style is breezy in design, yet solid in structure, predominantly created with materials such as breeze blocks and large pavers that can be integrated from the inside out.
With outdoor greenery and gardens catered to
a dry climate, the Palm Springs style is perfect for
the harsh Australian weather. Rich in materiality,
with a natural colour palette, the Palm Springs
tones are reminiscent of the Californian desert
flora, with bold pops of coral and citrus yellow.
The decor, however, is more refined, with a focus
on clean lines and a more minimal approach.
The Palm Springs style lets the relationship with
the outdoor landscape do the talking.

HamptonsThe Hamptons style dates back over 200 years, when the farmhouses on the Eastern shores of Long Island were transformed into beach homes for city-siders wanting to escape from Manhattan.
Typically, the facade of a Hamptons home would
be white, which is continued throughout the interior
design, decor and styling. The crisp whiteness is
offset with textural decor, such as woven rugs, pops
of organic colour and a coloured feature in the
bathroom. The Hamptons look is perfect for anyone
wanting a fresh, bright and airy style in their home.

Modern FarmhouseWith a focus on earthy materials, reminiscent of those in an original farmhouse, this style is composed predominantly of textural materials such as brick, timber and steel.
The Modern Farmhouse is perfect for a home-owner
wanting to create the style of a rural escape,
in their own home. To create a cozy, bucolic style,
brick is the perfect option. As a material choice,
brick is hard-wearing, and durable, and as an
aesthetic choice, it offers a rustic, lived in character.

CoastalThe Coastal look is inspired by the vast Australian coastline. The style is less pristine than the Hamptons, with a more ‘lived-in’ feel and more trinkets in the decor, and features more blues, and natural raw materials.
Creating a welcoming ambiance, the Coastal style is
abundant with natural light, and makes the most of
open spaces, reminiscent of the expansive shores
of Australia’s lush coast. With unique decor and
furniture, this style has a cozy beach-feel and is
quintessential to the Australian way of life.

IndustrialThe Industrial style look is ideal for inner-city dwelling. You don’t need a big space to execute this theme, and it is ideal for apartment living.
The Industrial style is rich in texture, with a moody
and dark colour palette. The materiality of the
Industrial look is tactile, with a combination palette
of metal, wood and brick. Whilst the most-part of
the theme is refined in its colour palette, that is not
to say that it is dull. With sporadic pops of colour
throughout the house, the Industrial look can still be
playful and exciting in its style.
