To be eligible to enter residential aged care, you must be at pensionable age or receive a Disability Support Pension, and be assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). An ACAT will talk to you about your current situation and determine if you are eligible to receive government-subsidised aged care services.

We are fully accredited by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency and committed to progressing innovative care, which supports each person to celebrate their personal life journey.

Who provides the care?

Bribie Island Aged Care ServiceChurches of Christ Care Bribie Island Aged Care Service is a 128-bed, residential care service offering a range of personal care, therapies and accommodation.

It is just a short walk from the Pumicestone Passage where you will find beautiful water views across to Redcliffe, Brisbane and the Glasshouse Mountains. Living at Bribie Island you can enjoy the abundant birdlife and wheelchair friendly walking tracks along the foreshore and throughout the island.

The service is co-located with Churches of Christ Care Bribie Island Retirement Village.

Residents are encouraged to maintain independence; however, staff will give extra help if needed. Assistance can be given with showering, personal hygiene and dressing, the dispensing of medication, dementia support, mobility, meal assistance, special diets, emotional support, rehabilitation and communication, with additional support available during any short-term illness.

Our service embraces the philosophy of client-focused care, which recognises each person’s individual preferences, values, lifestyle choices and needs, and optimises wellbeing. This is facilitated by the development of ‘partnerships in care’ which include the resident, their representative, care providers, allied health providers and others who form part of a resident’s community.

Personal care services


Our programs and therapies support residents, their families and carers and are interventions to enhance, improve or manage:• chronic disease• rehabilitation from injuries• nutrition and hydration• emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Many of our specialist programs and therapies focus on the things that bring uplift to an individual’s life. This means having fun, enjoying life, living life more abundantly and enjoying positive wellbeing. Resident common areasPublished July 2018

The Acacia and Dolphin Court residents have a dining room to accommodate 19 residents, a lounge with TV/Foxtel, and direct access to the outdoor area called ‘The Sunshine Club’, with seating and expansive views. Residents in Rose Court have access to two dining areas and a lounge for 20 residents, with a piano and TV/Foxtel. Frangipani wing residents have a dining area for residents and a carpeted lounge area. The Jacaranda House residents have a dining room to accommodate 26 residents and a lounge with TV/Foxtel and direct access to the garden and outdoor area. Residents have access to purpose built, landscaped, outdoor areas including a 1952 Morris Minor and a shed area for activities. A lounge area for residents offers a piano and TV/Foxtel.

Bribie Island residents gather for celebrations, worship and other activities in the large activities hall with stage, accommodating 120 residents and visitors. This well-used facility includes a resident kitchen and library. Residents can enjoy the outdoors at the barbecue area with gardens and walking paths.

Companionship 2 Companionship Rooms in Acacia and Frangipanni wings offer residents twin share accommodation with shared bathroom. Some have garden/patio access or views of the garden. The rooms are furnished with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, and carpet or vinyl flooring. They have ceiling fans or individual reverse cycle air conditioning, natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

StandardStandard Rooms in Acacia and Frangipanni wings offer residents spacious single rooms with shared bathroom. Some have garden/patio access or views of the garden. The rooms are furnished with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, and carpet or vinyl flooring. They have ceiling fans or individual reverse cycle air conditioning, natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

PremiumPremium Rooms offer residents single ensuited rooms which open to a covered patio/garden area. Most are in the Banksia area of the Rose Court wing. The rooms are furnished with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, and carpet or vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned and have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

Premium PlusPremium Plus Rooms are very spacious single ensuited rooms with external access to a covered patio and garden area. They are offered in a variety of accommodation wings including Rose Court, Acacia and the secure Jacaranda wing which accommodates residents with dementia. The rooms are furnished with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, and carpet or vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned and have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

Premium Deluxe Premium Deluxe Rooms are very spacious single ensuited rooms. They are located in the secure accommodation wing named Jacaranda House. The rooms are furnished to a high standard with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, quality carpet or vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned, have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.


Published July 2018 StudioStudio Rooms are spacious single ensuited rooms with a small kitchenette and external access to a covered patio. Rooms are interconnecting and would be ideal for couples. The rooms are furnished with electric bed, electric recliner chair, cupboards, bedside unit, wall mount television, over-bed table, chair, lockable cabinet, and vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned and have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

Bariatric Suite Bariatric Suite Rooms in the Dolphin Court wing are large single rooms with a shared ensuite between each set of two rooms. Rooms are specially designed to provide bariatric care, with built in ceiling hoists providing assisted access throughout the suite. The rooms are furnished to a high standard with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, electric chair, lockable cabinet, and quality vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned and have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.

Palliative Suite Palliative Suite Rooms in the Acacia wing are very spacious single ensuited rooms with kitchenette, family member accommodation and external access to a covered patio and own garden area. The rooms are furnished to a high standard with an electric bed, cupboards, bedside unit, over-bed table, electric chair, lockable cabinet, and quality vinyl flooring. All rooms are air-conditioned and have natural light and windows with curtains, phone point, 24-hour nurse call system and are Foxtel enabled.
