With a company steeped in such history,
Christie's archives house a wealth of
information with catalogues, books and
documents that date back to its founding.
Such information is often requested by
those simply intrigued by what has fallen
under the hammer to those prospective
buyers looking to learn about the history
of their intended purchases.
Looking after the company's archives in
London falls to head archivist and librarian
Lynda McLeod who, along with her team,
manage and look after this valuable collection.
With daily requests for information, it's their job
to find, collect and present all that there is to
know within the pages of the sale catalogues
with great care taken in handling information
that may be centuries old.
BDM Technology already had a strong working
relationship with Christie's with the company
supplying its BookMaster book friendly copier,
the ideal solution for the safe copying of the
firm's delicate collections but with the advent of
the digital age, Christie's were looking for a
solution to complement the BookMaster system
yet open the world of digitisation to them.
''Trialling the new
MiniScan in Christie's
Archives was a pleasure.
Our aim is to avoid using
flat-bed photocopiers as
often as possible, and
our BookMaster Copier
is black and white so for
colour images this
mini-gem is perfect.''
Choosing the right product was key for
Christie's and while BDM already offered a
complete range of solutions, they did not
meet the client's ideal specification of an
affordable and compact overhead scanner.
This lead BDM to investigate bringing to
market such a solution; a compact scanner
offering the features and benefits of its
larger rivals but at a more obtainable price.
The task of finding such a solution fell to
BDM Technology's Managing Director
Martyn Price and his team who would try
and find this missing link in the market price;
''Having learnt that there was a
requirement for a new affordable
overhead book scanner, BDM set about
looking for solutions for their
requirements. It would need to offer
key features yet at a new affordable
price. We have always being heavily
involved in supplying the library and
archiving sectors with specialist
equipment and using this knowledge
we managed to fulfil this task and bring
to the sector, MiniScan.''
Christie's Archives Discover Precious Mini-Gem Christie's, a company recognized as one of the best auction

As with any new product, customer testing
is key to making sure it meets its key
requirements while gaining vital feedback to
put into the products future development.
Christie's was the ideal candidate to trial
MiniScan for a period of time and we
approached Lynda McLeod to give

The department holds Christie's sale
catalogues dating back to 1766, many
are fragile, however the information
contained within the bound volumes
needs to be sent by email to our
colleagues around the globe. The mini-
scan is better than a hand held camera
and cheaper than a full-on digital book
scanner. So far, so good!''
MiniScan is the new compact overhead
scanner that is available in either A4 or A3
model sizes. Able to scan from books,
documents, photos and much more, users
need no specialist training with the product
complete with easy to use software (which

have also chosen MiniScan for their
