Affirmation Letters

We are asking each parent (sponsor, sibling, family member, teacher, coach, etc.) to write a “Secret” letter

or two addressed your child. This letter will be presented to him/her during the retreat. (again, as a

surprise). These letters are confidential and must be sealed so that they cannot be read until distribution

time. The letters must be returned to the RE Office by February 14. The more, the better.

Contents of the letter(s): This is an opportunity for YOU to share feelings and aspirations with your child that sometimes can be

hard to verbalize. We want to allow each parent the chance to share their joy and how proud you are of

your teen. You may elect to write about the concerns or fears you experienced at your age, about your

Confirmation memories, about the good times you remember or a combination of all of the above! The

letter is a private letter, meant only for the eyes of your son/ daughter please make it very special.

They will be given some personal time to read their affirmation letters on Saturday night . The longer- the

better! How often is it that you have your teen’s undivided attention?

You may also wish to include a favorite bible verse, a prayer card, a little love trinket or maybe a saint

medallion- a family picture is always a nice touch too!
