Independent Senior Sales Director Nemesia Manalo has always been the shy and conservative type of person. She loves reading just about anything that can stimulate her mind to think, praying and enjoys playing scrabble. She values people who are really sincere and committed to become successful, that’s why when her boss gave her an invitation to the official launch of Mary Kay in the Philippines in May of 2000 at the Dusit Hotel, Nemy immediately grabbed the opportunity and signed up under a Global National Sales Director.

A BSC Management graduate of Jose Rizal College, Nemy has always wanted something more in her life. She took up a secretarial course at first; but wasn’t satisfied, that’s why she shifted to Commerce to get a degree. She began working at a Commercial Bank and Trust Company for six months, but later on, moved on to her present job, which she has been with for 31

years in counting. She worked her way up, from being a clerk, to now being an Executive

Assistant to the President and Branch Manager of JRS Express.

Customer Service has always been top priority for Nemy, and good Customer Service for her means giving the orders of her customers on time and being able to service them immediately. She sees to it that she always touches base with them and never loses contact with any of them. Constant follow up through phone calls and text messages are important for her. She also sends them new catalogues, flyers and makes sure that she befriends all of them.

That is why, till the time she began until the present, she has 30 really loyal customers. She remembers all their birthdays, sends them notes and cards and gives them gifts, if the occasion calls for it. Her customers are well informed of the latest – in terms of new products and their features and benefits. She tells them all they need to know. Aside from full knowledge and personal customer service, her customers also see that she uses the products and have witnessed the transformation that she has undergone.

Mary Kay has given Nemy a different outlook in life. From being shy and conservative, she now is confident, can easily communicate to anyone and most of all, can lead people to succeed. The Company has given her total transformation – spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. If Mary Kay were alive, she would have to say this: “Thank you so much for touching my life – you are God’s channel of blessing to me and my family.” For her, Mary Kay really is a unique way of life, and the Company, she states, keeps getting better and better. In fact, her career has taken her to heights she has never imagined – like being crowned Queen of Personal Selling in Seminar 2002, being a consistent 12% Club member and a Ladder of Success achiever. And of course, debuting as an Independent Sales Director in October 2002 and developing her first offspring by December 2006, thus making her an Independent Senior Sales Director.

Nemy loves her Mary Kay career. Even if she is still part time with the Company, she says that she cannot live without it. Once she has retired from her 31-year job, then can she go full time with Mary Kay. Never has she once felt the need to give up or quit her Mary Kay business. Because she is a proclaimed “workaholic,” this business has taught her the importance of having a balanced life. And for that, she believes, she is blessed to succeed!

Just when she thought that her life would be a constant downhill of tragedies, Independent Senior Sales Director Monica Rodriguez was introduced to Mary Kay. Since then, her life has changed dramatically.

The year was 2003 when she recovered from a thymectomy surgery. She was diagnosed with “Myasthenia gravis” – a rare kind of disease that hits only one person out of a thousand. It is an uncommon disease of the nerves and muscles, characterized by great fatigue and weakness in the muscular system, most notably in the face and throat. This kind of disease causes the eyelids to droop, often causing squinting and double vision, the inability to move the mouth and lips, difficulty in talking, chewing and swallowing. It is not curable but ample amount of medicine or drugs can restore nerve transmissions to the muscles. Aside from having to deal with this kind of disease, she had to deal with two deaths that hit her family, and the question of being happy in her career, having jumped from being a hotel receptionist, to a sales person of memorial plans, to almost being a sea woman, to an agent of different direct selling companies. Monique didn’t believe that her life would change…until her officemate introduced her to Mary Kay in December of 2003. She was hesitant at first simply because she didn’t believe that her fate would change, that she could do the business and that she was in the proper condition to work. But miracles do happen, and she finally decided to give Mary Kay a try. It was the change she needed – Mary Kay was her lucky charm and since then, everything has been brighter and clearer for her.

“Everything fell into place when I followed the priorities of Mary Kay,” shares Monique. Mary Kay has given her confidence in the way she dresses and carries herself. Now, she is ashamed if she wears jeans and leaves the house without any make-up. She stresses that she feels naked without any make-up and is firm saying that she uses all our Mary Kay products. That’s why she finds it easy to sell our products. Her customers see her using the products. And her forte is selling through On Paper and On the Go.

Monique has a solid customer base, and this is because she makes sure that her customers get the best service they deserve. She always smiles, asks them their needs and is considerate with their payment. She introduces Mary Kay first, allows her customers to try the products first, and then they eventually buy. Her customers range from a few dominant ones to mostly influencing types. Her customers are from Cavite, Manila and Parañaque, mostly from banks and hotels. She gives them gifts – especially for those who buy sets. She also gives them birthday presents and is strict with the no discount policy.

Since she began, she still has with her 30 loyal customers for life. This is because she follows up, befriends her customers, tells them about the products, listens to what they want and suggests as well what they should try. In return, her customers have trusted her since.

Monique does her full time business the Mary Kay way. Her motivation is simply being happy with what she does, loving it – both the Company and its products. For her, image is very important as well. She values the Golden Rule to heart. Because of this, she debuted as an Independent Sales Director in January 2005 and became an Independent Senior Sales Director by August 2006.
