Churches of Christ Care Barcoo Living Multi-Purpose Service is a 24-bed, resident care service offering a range of personal care, therapies and accommodation.

The service is a joint Commonwealth and State/Territory initiative for rural and remote communities, which allows the local community and service providers to work together under one management structure to plan and improve health and aged care services.

Located in friendly Blackall, the town is situated on the Barcoo River and Landsborough Highway. It is a small country town steeped in history, including the home of the original ‘black stump.’ The main street is charming with its bottle trees down the centre and truly outback-styled buildings.

Living at Barcoo Living Multi-Purpose Service, you will be part of our warm and close-knit community.

Your accommodation options

We offer a range of options to help you find the right

fit for your individual needs. All rooms offer single

accommodation with private ensuite, some with a

kitchenette. They all open onto a lovely shady balcony

allowing the outdoors in.

All rooms have 24 hour nurse call system, phone point

and air-conditioning.

We offer a range of care options to suit your individual

needs, including dementia and palliative care.

Your room and surrounds

All of our rooms are designed to enhance your comfort

and care. While we provide most of what you will need

on a daily basis, we encourage you to bring keepsakes,

mementoes and other treasured items that will help

you personalise your new home.

Your family and loved ones are always welcome and can

even take part in lifestyle activities. Our range of dining,

living and outdoor entertaining areas offer flexibility

for get-togethers as well as cosy places to retreat to for

a quiet cuppa and chat. Living at Barcoo, you can enjoy

time outdoors, walking through the established gardens

and relaxing on the large shaded verandah.

Your care

Your care is based on our holistic approach to individual,

family and community need. We believe in bringing

uplift and dignity at all stages of life and a focus on

positive wellbeing. This means having fun, enjoying life,

increasing connections and living more abundantly.

All our programs are designed to support you and your

family and carers.

When you become part of our community our priority

is to establish a care plan, developed with you, your

loved ones and health care providers. This recognises

your individual preferences, values, choices and

needs and will be tailored to optimise your wellbeing.

It will also include any carer, allied health providers

and others who will form part of your community.

Your care plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure it

continues to meet your needs.

Your care team consists of the service manager,

registered nurses and other qualified care staff. Our

team are there to assist with daily support when needed

including showering and dressing, dispensing medication,

mobility, rehabilitation and emotional support.

We are fully accredited by the Australian Aged Care

Quality and Safety Commission.

Meals

We will provide all your meals and snacks, with a sample menu included in this pack. Your menu is specially prepared onsite by our hospitality team to meet all your nutrition needs and is seasonally based, to ensure the freshest of ingredients are used. Of course, your family and loved one are always welcome to bring in special treats.

Lifestyle and activities programs

Your wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. This is indicated by your contentment, comfort, smiles and laughter, as well as your social connections and engagement.

We will work with you to keep your mind and body active – you’ll find there is something for everyone. An activities program is included in this pack, to help you understand the range of choices available. They can include exercise and fitness classes, creative outlets like arts, crafts and music and intellectually stimulating activities from trivia and puzzles to quizzes. These are designed to help you enjoy all aspects of your life and engage with those around you.

We also regularly celebrate special occasions and events, and your family is always welcome to take part in the festivities!

To help you remain connected to your faith and spirituality we also offer pastoral care. There are regular church services and our chaplains are also available to offer support.
