The Young Marines is an organization that was founded 60 years ago to introduce and teach the standards and values of the United States Marine Corps, and respect for USMC and American traditions, to children ranging in age from 8 to high school graduation. The late R. Lee Ermey, better known as the Gunny, was an enthusiastic supporter and promoter of the organization. He introduced the Young Marines to the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation because he saw how the two could benefit each other.GSSF relies heavily on volunteers to assist with matches, and the Young Marines, along with the adult volunteers who accompany them, arrive with enthusiasm and discipline! They provide range officer support, assist in pasting targets, set/paint steel, and deliver supplies to stages, ensuring the matches run smoothly.One of the primary missions of the GSSF is the promotion of safe and active participation in

shooting sports. As the Young Marines work at the matches, they learn and follow proper range and firearm safety procedures. Some Young Marines, with permission and close supervision, are beginning to participate in matches. This has led to groups of Young Marines coming together and registering as teams at matches, which has been a win for everyone, regardless of team placements. The 2019 GSSF season will see many Young Marine teams across the country participating in GSSF matches. There will even be special recognition for their accomplishments during the GLOCK Annual Shoot in Talladega this September. GSSF sincerely appreciates the assistance of these fine young people and the adult leaders who work with them. If you see Young Marine personnel on a range, take a moment to thank them for their hard work and dedication.

Initial Membership PackageYour initial membership package will include a welcome letter with membership card, a range bag, a copy of the GLOCK Report, and other promotional items.

Matches NationwideThe biggest single benefit is the opportunity to compete in the GSSF matches themselves. There are 54 of these outdoor matches scheduled for 2019 nationwide. Prizes from 2018 matches have averaged 22 guns, 14 2-year membership extensions, and about $4,300 in cash and commodity awards per match. The larger the match, the larger the number of awards. With all-time record-setting attendance, the 2016 1,648-entry Griffin, GA match awarded a total of 71 firearms, 59 2-year membership extensions and $20,150 in cash awards.

There are also over 167 Indoor League match series nationwide each year. These are held at GLOCK Stocking Dealers who also run indoor ranges. Pistols and other GLOCK item awards are also a feature of these matches.

Armorer’s Class and Operator’s CourseAs a GSSF member, you are eligible to register for the GLOCK Armorer’s class and Operator’s course. These classes are designed to help familiarize GLOCK owners with the use and maintenance of their firearms. Information on these classes in available at www.glocktraining.com.

CMP AffiliationGSSF is affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program. The CMP makes World War II-era military long guns and ammunition for them available to those eligible to purchase at preferential prices. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park will be hosting 2019’s GLOCK Annual Shoot and Gunny Challenge.

Pistol Purchase ProgramNew members who join for a minimum of two years and all renewing GSSF members are eligible to participate in the Pistol Purchase Program, as allowable by local laws. Eligible members will receive a coupon which can be used at participating dealers. More information on this program can be found in the GSSF FAQs.

How do I receive a pistol purchase coupon?If you are a renewing member, you will automatically receive a new member card and coupon with your renewal. If you are a new member, you will need to join for a minimum of 2 years. When you receive your new member pack, you will receive a member card and coupon. They are located on the bottom of your welcome letter. You will receive one coupon per year as long as you are a current member. These coupons are automatically mailed around your membership anniversary date. If you are a new member joining for one year, you will not receive a coupon until you renew your membership.

If you don’t receive your coupon, you can email us at [email protected] with your name and member number (if you know it) to request one.

How do I use my pistol purchase coupon?GSSF Pistol Purchase Coupons must be used at a Blue Label GLOCK dealer. If you have a dealer near you that sells to law enforcement you can contact them to see if they are participating in the program. If you do not know of any dealers near you, call the GSSF office at 770-437-4718 for assistance. A dealer locator can also be found at https://us.glock.com/dealer-locator. GSSF Pistol Purchase Coupons are non-transferrable.

I am new to GSSF and shooting competitions. What do I need to know?Everything can be found on our website, www.gssfonline.com. For new shooters, it will help if you read the sign in procedure, “GSSF made easy,” and new competitor briefing. Those are located under the “Hot Topics” link. You can only shoot each division once per match. If you want to shoot more than one gun you need to shoot multiple divisions. If you still have questions you can email us at [email protected] or call 770-437-4718.

Can I pre-register for an Indoor League Match?You cannot pre-register for indoor league matches. You will need to register at the hosting range. You can also join or renew at the range.

If I do not pre-register for an outdoor match can I still shoot?Yes, you can register, join, or renew at any GSSF match. If you pre-register, you won’t have to stand in registration lines at the match. If you are pre-registering please note that pre-registrations must be received by GSSF by noon, Eastern time, the Wednesday before the match. That gives staff time to get all paperwork packed and ready to go to the match.

Can I bring a friend to watch the match?Yes, they will need to stop by registration and sign a liability form. They will also need to bring hearing and eye protection with them.

When will the match results be posted?The preliminary results will be posted soon after the match. If there is an error in your results, please send an email to [email protected] with your name and the match name. Let us know in which division and which course of fire the error is located. Most matches will be finalized in approximately 4-6 weeks. If we have a heavy match schedule it may take longer to finalize matches. Once the match is finalized, you will see the prizes for that match listed with the scores.

GSSF On the RoadTucson, ArizonaGreat match, again, with amazing staff. Salim, Jay, and the crew do an outstanding job year after year. The club is growing as is support of GSSF. Amongst the competitors were Border Patrol Officers, as well as local law enforcement. It is a beautiful area to visit.

Savannah, GeorgiaWith 17 South Rod and Gun Club holding their first ever GSSF Match, it turned out to be the highest ever attended inaugural match! We had over 900 entries and over 100 Range Officers! The match was extremely well run with very little wait time to shoot. The clubhouse is very nice and welcoming and their other amenities are wonderful. The match is held very close to Savannah, GA with plenty of great food and attractions close by. If you were not able to attend this first match make plans to make it out to the next one.

Burro Canyon, CaliforniaThis past November we held the 3rd annual Fall GSSF match at the CALGUNS Shooting Sports Association in Azusa, CA. We had over 400 shooters participate in the match, some of them for the very first time! If you have never been to this part of the country in November you are missing out, the weather was absolutely wonderful. We also had a great showing of Range Officers as well as two units from the Young Marines. If you get the chance, I highly recommend coming out to the west coast for a good time with good people.

San Antonio, TexasThis match is unique. There are two clubs who participate in the match, as well as the owner of the Black Hawk Shooting Range. With all involved it runs smooth and people enjoy it. The San Antonio area in December is a great place, as the Alamo is decorated for Christmas as well as the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio, plan to attend this match to make for a great mini vacation.

Homestead, FloridaGorgeous weather, a great range and a very well run match. The Homestead Training Center always comes through. South Florida in January is a great way to start the season with mild temps and a great staff of RO’s. The food truck was excellent and the large facility has plenty of parking. Ray and Arnold and their staff knock it out of the park.

Gonzales, LouisianaRain and chilly temps were on the calendar but nothing can dampen the warm hospitality of the East Ascension GSSF Challenge. Keith and his seasoned crew of RO’s keep it lively and friendly. Easy access off of I-10, some of the best food Louisiana has to offer nearby and you have a great match to start the year off on the right foot.

Littlefield, ArizonaComing in hot from the 2019 SHOT Show we held the second annual match in Littlefield, AZ The Smokin’ Gun Club in Littlefield, AZ is absolutely beautiful with views of the breath taking mountains in the back ground. The range officers there did a phenomenal job getting everybody shot through in a timely manner. After the match some of the competitors took out their shotguns and enjoyed Smokin’ Gun Club’s trap field. We had so many shooters we had to finish Saturday under headlights! The 2019 Littlefield, AZ match was another great match for GSSF!

New Smyrna Beach, FloridaThe match was great; Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club went above and beyond to accommodate all. Range Officers worked extra hard on the three day event and pushed through with a new record. Great match to come to and make it a mini vacation, stay at the beach and get away from all the winter weather. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there next year.

Tallahassee, FloridaThe Talon range in Tallahassee welcomed GSSF for the 6th year with warm temps and friendly staff. John and his always helpful RO’s ensure a

fun match. Easy access to downtown Tallahassee 20 minutes away adds to the fun of visiting for the weekend. FSU and UF students and alumni came out to support and shoot the match.

Bauxite, ArkansasThis past year in Bauxite was a cold and rainy event, but that didn’t stop our wonderful GSSF Competitors from coming out and having a great time. The club does a great job in supporting the match and provides some great Range Officers. Bauxite is just a little outside of Little Rock, AR so there is plenty of attractions and entertainment for the whole family.

West Monroe, LouisianaThe Ouachita Challenge in West Monroe LA is always well run. Stormy weather was a factor this year, but the crew always comes through with a good match. Ricky and his staff of volunteers were efficient and pleasant. Cadets from the academy volunteering as RO’s helped everything run smoothly despite challenges from the weather. The range is well setup and improving every year. Special thanks to the Ouachita Sheriff’s office for all the support.

Dawsonville, GeorgiaThe scene was set for an epic GSSF match at the 12th annual River Bend Ballistic Challenge held at the River Bend Gun Club. With volunteers from all over the southeast and additional support from the Forsyth County Police Explorers and the Etowah Valley Young Marines, the 12th edition was the best yet. A demo booth was available to test the latest GLOCK models, along with the GLOCK, Inc. Marketing team, who made the latest GLOCK merchandise directly available to competitors.

Yolo, CaliforniaEvery few years we have some weather blowing in from the Pacific coast. 2019 was one of those years and our hosts at the Yolo Sportsmen’s Association had to work hard to get the ranges ready for us. This has happened to them before and they have pumps to deal with the situation but it takes time and the rain has to stop to make things dry enough to hold a match. A week before our match, those pumps were running round the clock. On match weekend the weather was beautiful with no rain in sight and a good time was had by all! Hats off to Ron Sechler, Blake Bennett, and their crew!

Montgomery, AlabamaCentral Alabama Gun Club did an amazing job again this year. The date change helped with attendance along with having better weather always makes for a better weekend. Michelle and Joe Peel are great hosts; their hospitality to all is above and beyond. If you have not attended this match you should add it to your schedule for 2020. We are looking forward to another great year with an amazing crew.

Morganton, North CarolinaThe match in Morganton had a bit of rain this year, but the super crew led by Alex Cobb and Daniel Cobb did not let it bother them in the least. This is one of the most hospitable groups of people we have hosting a match. They always go above and beyond for us. This

year, when we got there, we found out that the registration area was without power and water due to a couple of storms. Alex and Daniel got busy and called a few folks to come help. By the time we opened on Friday, we had power and shortly after, we had our water back on. Many thanks to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office for the help and support for this match.

Azusa, CaliforniaThe sun shone bright on the 4th annual GLOCK West Coast Challenge, hosted by the CalGuns Shooting Sports Association. The event this year was co-hosted with the Southern California NRA Days event and was a huge success. An overwhelming number of volunteers and support from both Southeast County and Antelope Valley Young Marines made the work of running the event effortless.

Boise, IdahoBoise is a match that is growing. The staff is all about making GSSF well known. They are having “Mock GLOCK matches” monthly as well as setting up stages for people to see and shoot during their Steel Matches. Phil, John and Tammy, along with all the other volunteers have great plans for 2020. The range officers were on top of making sure everyone felt welcome as well as assisting all the new shooters through the courses.

Pryor, OklahomaLast year we had very cold temperatures and wind chill well below freezing on the Saturday of the match. We were all bundled up as we were sitting outside. This year we were hoping that the weather would be kinder to us, but it was not to be. 2019 was a little warmer, but we had driving rain on Saturday afternoon. Most of the competitors were following the weather reports so they came early in the day before the rain moved in. We were also able to skip the tents and put registration inside one of the rooms in the building. Sunday was a big improvement with no rain and both days the crew put on an outstanding effort to get this match in the books!

Holmen, WisconsinNor rain, snow, sleet or hail stopped the 5th Annual GSSF match at Holmen Rod & Gun Club in 2019! A light flurry on Saturday gave way to clear, sunny skies on Sunday. A large contingent of volunteers and Young Marines from Southeast Wisconsin kept the squads moving very efficiently. The Southeast Wisconsin Young Marines proved to be formidable competitors as well, with their team moving into first place in the GSSF Young Marine Team Challenge! At the end of the weekend, three volunteers went home with certificates for a new GLOCK pistol!

Carrollton, TexasThis year in Carrollton, TX we had over 500 entries for a new record! This match has been going on for 25 years now and is one of the longest running matches in GSSF! We had wonderful weather for that time of the year and the range officers did a wonderful job as usual. If you make the trip out to the Dallas, TX area, make sure to stop by Babe’s Chicken for a wonderful meal after the match.

Grand Island, NEThis year we had the 11th annual match in Grand Island, NE. The match was one of the best I have been to so far. We had over 300 entries and there was very little to no wait at all of the stages, thanks to the wonderful crew of Range Officers. While you are in town make sure to grab a bite to eat at Runza and grab a famous Runza sandwich.

Sparta, ILThe new match date in May presented great weather to go along with the amazing volunteer group at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex. A must see for any shooting enthusiast, WSRC hosts the National Skeet Shooting Museum, Caliber Restaurant and pro shop, along with acres of RV camping sites. The professional staff at WSRC, lead by Bart Carson, had the range up and running with smooth efficiency. Additional support was provided by the Heartland Young Marines, who were able to compete in GSSF as a team for the first time.

THE GLOCK REPORT

It all started with a question during a brainstorming session at Indy Arms Company (IAC; Indianapolis, IN) about what we should do for the NRA’s Annual Meeting (NRAAM): “Has anyone run a GSSF Indoor event coinciding with a large event such as NRAAM?” A quick email to GSSF indicated that apparently it had not. This simple question was what started the wheels rolling.A little history: IAC has been running monthly GSSF matches continuously since 2017. We run four 3-month Indoor Leagues each year on the second Sunday of every month. These events have been very successful and we have built a strong community of Glock shooters and enthusiasts. Our first step in considering hosting a standalone indoor league during NRAAM was to gauge interest in our existing GSSF community. We surveyed our shooters and 90% indicated they would gladly shoot our regular monthly matches AND the NRAAM match. This provided a “comfort zone’” to move forward knowing that at the very worst we would have most of our locals attend the weekend match.We then worked out the logistics, worked with GSSF (Stephanie is awesome), and committed to running matches Thursday through Sunday of the NRAAM weekend. We promoted the event heavily through our own contacts, through local NRA events, GSSF’s mailings, the GSSF Facebook page, and on Glock’s own social media site, Glock I.D.To accommodate out-of-town shooters, we decided to allow shooters to shoot multiple matches on the same visit. Anyone shooting more than one match in a single visit would shoot their match one gun(s), come back to the loading lounge to reload and have their name put back into rotation to go back to the range to shoot each of their additional matches. Our range officers ran six lanes on a GSSF-dedicated bay throughout the match times each day. Though there was almost always a

backlog of competitors as we continuously ran groups of six shooters at a time, no one ended up waiting more than about 15 minutes to get to shoot. This was primarily due to multiple volunteers helping people getting signed in and answering questions in the lounge and trading out and adjusting targets on the range. Overall the event easily passed expectations with approximately double the number of competitors we would normally see in any given 3 month/3 match league. Additionally, a full half of the competitors were from out of town (we included free Glock rentals with entry for those not travelling with their guns). We ended up running over 250 Courses of Fire (130 Stock, 60 Unlimited, and 75 pocket.) Additionally, we had many excellent shooters with multiple 500s shot in stock and unlimited and 10 competitors shooting perfect 250 scores in pocket twice or more across the three matches. It was incredibly busy most of the time, but we had a great time running the event and received very positive feedback from all the

participants.What lessons did we learn planning and running this event? First, never doubt that running a GSSF Indoor league will bring shooters to your range. Second, even at a busy event like NRAAM, there is still interest in shooting at

a well run match. Third, make sure your league times are in the evening after the event closes and to make sure you have evening hours the day before the event for those arriving early and looking for something to do (Thursday and Friday night were crazy busy). I will end by throwing down the gauntlet to other ranges near future events. NRAAM is in Nashville, TN next year. Dana passed away on February 15, 2019, on his 33rd wedding anniversary surrounded by his wife and two kids, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Dana was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, a Veteran, retired Dayton Police Sergeant, a business owner, and friend to so many.

Who said you can’t teach an old dog (or old lady) new tricks? Well, after watching my little sister compete at an indoor GSSF match, and seeing how she lights up when talking about both the indoor and outdoor matches, I decided to give it a try. So, at the age of 62, after shooting only 1 month, I attended my first indoor match with my sister and used her Pocket GLOCK (GLOCK 43). My results were respectable and I didn’t embarrass either of us! Everyone made me feel very welcome and I enjoyed it. In fact, since then, I have participated in one other indoor match and my sister and I made a road trip to Johnstown, PA for my very first GSSF outdoor match. Talk about a fun time. We had a super trip! Everyone at the match was extremely encouraging and welcoming. I’d been shooting for less than 4 months, and thought they might be more inclined to ignore or be impatient with a new shooter, but found the opposite to be true. The range officers and other shooters were very helpful and made me feel right at home. Thanks to everyone for an awesome time and being so gosh darn friendly! I shot in 3 divisions (what the heck, after traveling all that distance, why not?). My sister shot well (she’s been at it a bit longer than me) and I, well, I did ok, but boy, those darn plates are my Achilles heel! I had everyone in stitches. I shot and hit the first plate in the string, then on the 2nd shot I hit low on the cross bar and the 3rd plate fell down with no delay. It actually looked like I had skipped over the 2nd plate and just shot the third. While giggling, I just moved on and aimed at the 4th plate, again hit low and good ol’ #5 immediately fell down. What a riot! My sister (and the range officers) wondered what in the heck I was doing shooting at every other plate (or if, per chance, my aim was REALLY poor)? Well, it’s not THAT bad! We all had a great laugh at my phantom hits. Needless to say, I didn’t score that well on the plates, definitely need to work on them.Even though the plates got the best of me, I now know why my sister is so excited about shooting and the GSSF competitions. It really was a lot of fun, I enjoyed it a great deal. I really like that even though you are in a competition with others, the

real competition to me is with myself (oh, and my sister, too…yes, we are a little competitive, so I need to get better!) I am going to get my very own GLOCK so I will be able to do more range practice and dry fire other than just once every blue moon when the two of us can get together. That should help me to improve. My sister and I have also designed and built our own little portable plate rack in order to get in some much needed practice!Hopefully, I won’t be the comedy show at my next GLOCK the Plates. Wish there were more GSSF matches closer to us. We’ve made a pact to try and get to 3 outdoor GSSF matches a year so more road trips are definitely in our future. My wife and I recently joined the GSSF. We are retired and were looking for a hobby that we could do together. We purchased our first GLOCK, a 17 Gen 3, last summer. Since then, we have purchased a GLOCK 26 Gen 5, two GLOCK 43’s, and our most recent purchase, a GLOCK 17L. My older brother has been our cheerleader and go to mentor for our many questions. This year, after we joined the GSSF, we participated in our first indoor match. It was definitely a learning experience, but because we were able to participate together, it was great fun!Together with learning more about shooting and practicing with our collection, one goal we have is to attend a GLOCK Armorer course. This hobby has opened up a whole new world for us and we are thoroughly enjoying this new endeavor. JKLouisiana

THE GLOCK REPORT

Having just concluded my 1st year in the GSSF, and my first time ever shooting competitively, I have to say it was one of the best decisions and experiences that I have ever had. I attend 5 GSSF matches this year. I made many new friends, had a good reason to travel all over the Pacific Northwest, won some very nice prizes, and improved my shooting skills tremendously.My first match was in Port Townsend, Washington. I went as a guest of a co-worker who has been shooting GSSF since its inception in the early 90’s. I had been invited in the past and regret not starting until now, when I am in my 50’s. I just followed my friend around and did what he did. We shot 6 divisions and I took second place in 2 of them which got me $175 and a GLOCK E-Tool. I had a blast and from then on I was hooked. My next match was in Nampa, Idaho just 20 minutes from my in-laws. My wife and I made a visit out of it and I plan on going back every year. I had the great idea that I would try to shoot as fast as those Master Shooters. Well, that didn’t work out so good for me. My times were worse but I still managed to come away with $175 and 3 knives. After that it was down to Dundee, Oregon with a lot of practice in between. My goal at this point, after learning the ins and outs, was to end the year winning one gun for placement. I did very well in Dundee and put up some of my best times. The competition was tough though and the gun just didn’t come, but I did come away with $250, a knife, and an E-Tool. Then I headed out to Missoula, Montana. I thought for sure I had won the gun in Pocket GLOCK with a time of 63.19 but to my surprise a lady from Montana State University showed up and beat me with a time of 59.35. She was an outstanding shot and she deserved that pistol. I had not reached my goal of winning a gun and I only had one more match left that was within what I believed to be “Driving distance”, and that was Albany, Oregon. I had a very good day in Albany and all of my practice and hard work paid off, plus a little of good luck tossed in for good measure. I placed 1st in 5 of the 6 divisions that I shot. Wow, I had done it. Not only did I reach my goal of winning a pistol for placement, but I had won 3 pistols and advanced to the Master Division. I plan on working even harder this next year and see how well I can

do in the Master Division. Thank you GLOCK and all of the great men and women of GSSF. You have brought a lot of excitement and joy into my life this past year and I plan on being a part of this organization for many more years to come.

My very first pistol match ever! As a brand new GSSF member and prior law enforcement officer, I wanted to give the GSSF Match at Burro Canyon Azusa, CA, a try. After reading, the article: “The Road to GSSF”, in the Annual 2019, I was inspired to shoot my GLOCK 19 in the: Guardian class and the GLOCK Girls Side Match. On Saturday, 3-30-19 at about, 0900 hours, I was welcomed by the registration staff. After registering, I was directed to go around and sign in on the three different stage books. At the “5 to GLOCK” stage I was introduced to a Range Officer who graciously offered to stay with me and serve as my individual RO for all the stages. That offer, which I gratefully accepted, readily helped to lower my degree of stress and make my adrenaline level much more manageable. I guess you could also call it, “Stage Fright”. I began to relax a bit and think about what was said in the article: “Remember- the key to doing well in a GLOCK Match is: Accuracy first, Speed second”. By my following that strategy - I did not have any misses.At the end of all my stages of fire, my RO suggested that I visit the on-site match armorer, who was seated by the registration table. That very helpful gentleman detected a slight catch in my gun’s trigger action. He disassembled the gun and found a bunch of gunk inside the firing pin channel. I told him it was likely from my having used an improper cleaning product years prior. I am enormously grateful for the armorer’s help and further recommendation that I send my G19 to GLOCK, Inc. to have the internal updates installed. It was a great GSSF Match, a great day for weather, and a great first experience that included helpful,

attentive, courteous, and friendly GSSF match staff and volunteers. It was a great start and I am planning to attend the GSSF match in November 2019 at Burro Canyon/Azusa, CA.

As 2018 comes to a close and looking back at how many GSSF Matches I attended this year, Started 2018 at Homestead FL and Finished in Savannah GA. I attended 5 matches all at great facilities. They say as the year closes, it is time to reflect on what has brought you to this point. I’ve been doing GSSF matches since the first one I attended in Okeechobee FL, GLOCK the lake in 2015, the year before that match I had purchased my First GLOCK, A Gen 3 GLOCK 17. I still remember today how stunned I was with the quality of people I met at my first GLOCK match, that day after I finished shooting I went and volunteered to be an RO the next day (they needed help). Since then I’ve been a GLOCK RO in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Since that faithful day, I currently own 6 GLOCK firearms, my trusty G17, but now I have Gen 3 30SF, a Gen 3 G17 with added RMR (this is what I use at most competitions, very proud to use my GLOCK against many of the other firearms you see on the competition circuit). I have added a GLOCK 43 and now a Gen 5 GLOCK 19 MOS. The pride of my little collection is a Gen 2 GLOCK 19 that has a manufacture month/year of June 1997 (one month before the birth of my daughter). I also have added to my collection 2 GLOCK knives, I guess you can tell, I am very much a GLOCK Fan and I owe it all to April 2015 when I went to my first GSSF match.GLOCK’s GSSF match is a fantastic starting place for anyone looking to get into the sport shooting world, since then I participate in several other competitions, and have joined other organizations but GSSF still remains my favorite match. Without GSSF I would never had the privilege to take the GLOCK Armorers course, I would never have branched out from a static range, I don’t believe I would have ever grown my collection or been exposed to other matches and training.

As I look forward to 2019 and beyond, I can’t forget the starting place GSSF has provided, I hope to attend more matches in 2019 (I have the first 3 planned, Homestead, Volusia and Tallahassee) and keeping up the friendships I’ve made as well as looking forward to the new friendships I will be making.

I feel so fortunate to have my local range here in NW Washington host the GLOCK indoor league. I have attended now for two years and feel that I learn more and more each time I compete at Skagit Shooting Range.I also joined the yearly outdoor match in Port Townsend at Jefferson County Sportsmen’s Association for two years now and that has been an equal challenge focusing more on skill along with timing.I was totally excited to find out that I won the drawing from the GLOCK Girls side match!Thank you GSSF.

I started the sport of shooting in 1980 while living in New York at that time. I secured my New York State carry permit and joined a local gun range and club. I was a businessman and worked in the window manufacturing and installation business. In that business, I travelled from exclusive areas to high crime areas to meet building owners. That’s when I started carrying a gun for self-protection. Back then the smallest firearm was either a .38 caliber snub nose or a .380 caliber. Even those were large and heavy, and as a businessman, I dressed in suits, which at least gave me the ability to conceal carry. I first started with an ankle holster then an inside waistband carry. For years I looked forward to the firearm manufacturers producing a slim concealable weapon of decent caliber range. As a friend to the local and state police, I was invited to a demonstration by GLOCK of the

model 17. At the demonstration, the salesperson dug a hole in the ground and pulled out a GLOCK. He then field stripped it, washed it with a hose, then proceeded to shoot several hundred rounds. I was sold and purchased one as soon as they were available. I well remember the excitement of shooting the GLOCK and keeping my high scores at the range. Well, fast forward to a few months ago when I read about the model 43 and model 48. I went to my local firearms dealer, looked at both models and was sold on the model 43. I still had a lot of faith in GLOCK and owned a model 23 and 19X, but this new concealable 9mm was a firearm that I had wished would be available for over 25 years. I was a bit hesitant in shooting it at first due to the size. I never shot very well with the current crop of smaller 9mm and .380 firearms. Well, last week I went to the range and set my target at 25 feet and hoped that I could shoot this new model

as well as the compact firearms I owned. Well, my scores that day prompted me to write this letter to GLOCK. I had so many shots in the target center that several shooters nearby were amazed at my shooting skills. I was convinced that GLOCK produced the finest slim, concealable firearm in the world. There are many small slim 9mm and .380s on the market, but I have been extolling the virtues of the new GLOCK models to all my friends. I am once again excited at the state of current firearms produced by GLOCK and joined the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation. The trigger on my model 43 is as smooth as silk and the finish on the gun is impeccable. I do have one issue with GLOCK and that is, I now want to purchase a few new models, especially the new model 48.

GLOCK Professional would like to welcome Rob Wilson as the newest member of the GSSF team. Rob is originally from Zebulon, GA and grew up learning proper firearms handling and safety from his father at a very early age. In addition to shooting, he also enjoys weightlifting, hunting, and hiking. Rob started at GLOCK in 2016 as an Armorer in Technical Services and later as an Assembly Armorer. He holds advanced certifications from GLOCK and has served as the armorer at many GSSF events across the country.
