NEED
REACHING A WORLD OF KIDSYoung Life is following a movement of the Holy Spirit to make an impact on a world of kids. By 2016, Young Life will double its reach, equipping 80,000 leaders in 8,000 ministry areas to meet two million kids every year — all for the purpose of introducing them to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. Young Life was made for them.

CONTACT WORKBecause kids don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care, Young Life leaders show they care by going where kids are, meeting them as they are, and believing in who they can be. Within Young Life we call the persistent going out into the world of kids “contact work.” But kids just call it friendship.
CLUBWe like to think of club as a “party with a purpose.” It’s controlled chaos that’s almost impossible to describe, but kids know it when they see it. And before the party ends, we share a simple message about God’s love for them. After all, that’s what the celebration is all about.
CAMPKids consistently tell us that Young Life camp is the best week of their lives. How else would you describe a week where deep relationships are forged in the midst of mind-boggling fun and you hear the greatest love story ever told?
CAMPAIGNERSCampaigners is a weekly gathering for kids who wish to learn more or grow in their faith through study, service and leadership. We’re with kids for the long haul to help them take the first steps of faith with unconditional love. Along the way, we encourage kids to celebrate their faith through participation in a local church congregation.
WHAT IS YOUNG LIFE?
Frederick, Maryland, is the second largest city in the state. There are 11 high schools in the county with over 18,000 students. Currently, Young Life in Frederick exists in one high school, Linganore High School, and is in the process of starting at Oakdale High School. Our main focus in building the area right now is praying for, recruiting and training leaders to join us in this ministry.
MICHELLE’S STORY
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove
from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will
follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I
will be their God.”— Ezekiel 11:19-20
AREA OVERVIEW
Like so many stories of those on Young Life staff, my relationship with Jesus started through Young Life during my high school years. This led to becoming a Young Life leader while studying at Virginia Tech. Experiencing life through Jesus as a volunteer leader definitely deepened my heart for high-school-aged kids. Graduating from college
and completing a master’s degree in Family and Marriage Counseling confirmed what my heart’s desire had been leading me to years before ... full-time ministry. I am overjoyed for the opportunity to come on Young Life staff and can’t wait to see what God has in store for me, our area, and for those leaders and kids I get the privilege of walking alongside.
