A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

“The time is always right to do the right thing.”- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately. The age range spread across the board and I am amazed on the views I hear from so many individuals. Yet, this quote speaks highly to me. “The time is always right, to do the right thing.” I started Young Celebri-ty News to make a difference. It’s not only to stand up to the normal and typical gossip that we hear from other outlets about celeb-rities, but mainly to inspire all of you. In-spire you all to dream big and really believe that you can. Yes you, the small person, the quiet person, the person no one hardly pays attention to. Yes you. You will make a difference and you CAN impact this world. That is my way of doing what is right. How will you make a difference in lives today, you ask? By living out this quote above.

For some individuals they see someone at their school getting bullied. They may not participate or agree but to stand up to the Bully? That’s out of the question! Maybe your best friend steals, you know they prob-ably shouldn’t but to say something to him/her won’t happen. Whatever the case may be in your lives, I want to encourage you to stand up and let your voice be heard!

THE ICARUS ACCOUNT

Staying Humbleby Lisa Wilson

In today’s world, we aren’t taught to stay humble with the gifts and talents we have. We see it in the media, we hear it in songs, and many have accepted those who are prideful as a natural part of their character. Yet twins Ty and Trey remind themselves from the name of their group to always stay humble. The name originated from a character in Greek mythology named Icarus who ended up dying because of his pride. The name is a reminder to the group to not become prideful from their talent.

The Icarus Account has generated a high buzz on the web over the past several years. Their newest al-bum, “Carry Me Home,” sets a different tone than their previous projects by adding more depth and dynamic range to each song. Though still unsigned, this band has no problems with gaining a dedicated fan base and having their music marketed all over the world. The group does however wish to collaborate with a big label to help them reach an even bigger crowd in the near future. Check out the interview with them and see what Trey had to say about the band.

Who came up with the name for your group? And what does it mean?

I actually came up with the name “The Icarus Account” in high school. We had a garage band that went through 5 or 6 different name changes and that was one of the ones that we used. Once Ty and I started a serious acoustic project (end of 2006) we decided that we wanted to go by a band name as opposed to just “Ty & Trey” so we ended up pickingThe Icarus Account.

Page 5: Young Celebrity News - February Issue

V.2 Issue 2 | www.youngcelebritynews.com | Young Celebrity News | 5

The name is based on Icarus who is a character in greek mythology who ended up dying because of his pride so the name really just reminds us to stay humble.

Have the two of you always done music together?

Yes. We have always gone to different schools so whenever we played in school-based music groups we were

on our own. Other than that, anyproject we have ever had has included both of us playing. We both played in our church band in High School and even though we went to different colleges, anytime one of us booked a show, the other one would make the 2 hour drive to play alongside. Being twins I guess made it hard to separate!

How has your newest project, “Carry Me Home,” differ from your other projects you’ve put out?

I would say that it differs in a couple ways, one is the production and the other is the content. Production wise we did a few different things on this album than previous albums and that is that we took out a lot of the background guitar parts and added a lot more otherinstruments; drums, a lot of keys, a lot of strings, and some bass. The idea was to create a record that still supported the harmonies and the songwriting, but that just added more depth and more dynamic range to each song. The strings in particular really add to how much we canbuild a track as well as how del-icate we can make the quieter tracks.

Are you guys still unsigned? Is that your own choice, if so then why?

We are still unsigned! I would say it is partly by choice, but partlynot by choice. What I mean is that we do want to be signed, but we arewaiting for a proper and fair record deal. There are so many tools forthe independent artist nowadays, and there are lots of ways to sell

music that didn’t exist before. You no longer need a label to sellmusic, though you typically need a label to sell a lot of music. Thecatch is that when you sign a record deal, you give up a lot ofrights, a huge percentage of your income, and you aren’t guaranteed toget any bigger. The goal eventually is to sign to a label big enoughto market us more effectively than we can market ourselves at a dealthat shows the label’s commitment to us so that they will be puttingtime and money into marketing our music and ultimately the hope isthat we sell so many more records that a smaller percentage of theincome still equals the same amount of money. It’s a complicatedprocess but in the end we would like to be signed, we just are willingto be patient because there are so many effective things that we cando independently right now.

You have put out a lot of songs in your music career. Do you have a favorite that you like performing?

My personal favorite song to perform is “Keeper of Your Heart” whichwas the title track from an EP we released back in 2011. It is reallythe most accurate picture of wrestling with my emotions during theseason of my marriage and my parents divorce so it really means a lotto me. Ty’s favorite song to perform is “Favorite Girl.” It’s fun andhappy (and we write a lot of sad songs lol) and it has been a fanfavorite for a few years now. And anytime the fans are singing along,we are having a blast!

What is the song Mayday based on?

Mayday is really a very broad song. It was inspired by our personalstruggles with our faith and wrestling with our desire to be betterpeople.

We are both Christians and that influences our music, particularly this song, but we didn’t want the song to just bespecific to our personal struggles, we wanted it to be a song that meant rescue and redemption to anyone going through any struggle. Hopefully the song brings hope to people in dark times.

What was the most memorable concert of your lives?

There are a few that really stick out but I’d say two that are kind oftied for our top spots. The first was in London, Ontario in 2010 (Ithink lol). We had about 100 kids show up and it was our first showever in Canada so we were expecting about 5 fans haha. And to this dayit is still the loudest that I have ever heard our songs sung back tous. At one point, I couldn’t even hear myself in the speakers becauseeveryone was singing so loudly. The 2nd is a show that we played inMinneapolis, MN in Dec. of 2011. We had about 300 people at the showand I believe that it is our largest headlining show outside of ourhometown. It was just really cool to see all of our hard work pay offand have a show that was that successful and have so many fans thatwere really excited to hear us play.

Lastly, what advice would you give to up and coming artists today?

Man we’ve learned so much over the years... I’ll try to keep thisshort haha. First thing is write a lot, write because you love it, andwrite what you know. If you don’t enjoy music or writing it then youprobably shouldn’t be an artist so make sure you love it. And then, find something original about yourself. Don’t try to write a song thatsounds just like someone else, sure we all have influences, but youhave something unique to offer the world so figure out what that isand write that way. Second thing is find a way to record a decentquality EP. Pick 3-5 of your best songs and record them. Save up formonths if you have to but get into a solid studio (or learn to makegood recordings on your own) and make an album. That way when you playshows, people can by your CD and remember who you are. It also givesyou something to market and promote and a way to start making moneywhich you can then put back into your music (be it marketing, recording, making shirts, new instruments etc...). And third, bepersistent. Just because an artist is already huge the first time youhear them on the radio doesn’t mean that they were an overnightsensation. Most bands and artists write, record, and tour for yearsbefore they ever start getting songs played on the radio. Some of thebiggest artists today (Katy Perry, and FUN to name a few) worked foryears as mid-level artists before ever making it “big.” Eventuallytalent and hard work pay off in this industry and if you consistentlyfocus on your craft and promoting it good things will happen.

Tyler MatlHaving A Life Changing Effectby Lisa Wilson

For Tyler Matl, his days are packed with staying busy in his music career. He stays entertained by updating his social outlets for his fans, doing video and photo shoots and practicing more music. His fans, which he calls his Matlizers are his #1 supporters and he’s very thankful for all of them. Yet Young Celebrity News wanted to get to the core of why Tyler chose to pursue music. His response, “I can inspire people & have a life changing effect on people the same way music has for me.”

This young upcoming superstar taps into the hearts of his audience. His new upcoming EP, “Songs for Juliet,” will be available this year. A new maturity in sound will be heard in this next project. Check out the interview below to learn more about Tyler.

What’s the best advice you’ve gotten so far while being in the musicindustry?

The best advice I have received while being in the music industry would definitely have to be stay true to who you are.

What does a typical day of Tyler Matl look like?

My day normally consists of doing anything from songwriting, practicing& rehearsing for upcoming shows, responding to emails, replying tofans, updating my Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and any other socialnetwork you can think of, meeting with my management, photo shoots, videoshoots, & more! I’m always really busy & on the go but, I alsohave a lot of fun and stay en-tertained while doing so.

Who is your biggest supporter today?

My biggest supporter or supporters I should say are my Matlizers. I havethe best fans in the world who find a way to always keep mesmiling & driven. They make videos for me, send me fan mail, tweets, etc. My favorite is actually meeting them in person. They arealways so sweet & beautiful.

How does it feel when you’re performing and people are takingpictures and filming? Does it ever distract you?

I’ve embraced it quickly & sometimes I won’t even notice that someone is recording me until the next day & the video pops up on YouTube

Page 9: Young Celebrity News - February Issue

orgets tweeted to me. I love meeting fans & taking pictures with themfeels just like taking pictures with best friends.

We saw you performed, “Come Home To Me” with Ernie Halter someone that weinterviewed a few months back! How was it like performing with him?

A+ mazing! Haha!! I had so much fun performing “Come Home To Me”with Ernie. It’s actually my favorite song of his. We’re both goodfriends and, in fact we are even planning on writing together. I amreally excited to see what we come up with!

Why music and not something else?

I choose to do music because it completes me. Without music I wouldn’t bewho I am today. I can inspire people & have a life changingeffect on people the same way music has for me.

How does your upcoming EP differ from your last proj-ects you’ve put out?

It’s the second project I’m putting out. The first one was when I had just turned 16. I have had so much time to grow as an artist & figure out who I am & the direction I want my music to go in. It’s Pop music now. Very hooky & easy to remember but, still writtenfrom the heart.

What advice can you give to up and coming young artists today?

If you have a dream just go for it. Life is worth the risk &you’ll never know unless you take a chance.

Payton Rae’s Beautiful Soul

ByLisa Wilson

Payton Rae is not only beautiful on the outside, but her beautiful soul inside shines bright within her music. The young star was exposed early to what it means to be a star performing in front of thousands. At age four Payton snagged the opportunity to perform at the Houston Comets WNBA game where afterward, the crowd was on their feet with applause. As a young teen country singer, many people are quick to compare her to Taylor Swift. Yet Payton finds it as a compliment and strives to make music that moves people as well.

Now the talented young star has been working hard on her next project where she told Young Celebrity News, she has written her favorite song. It won’t be long before the charts are flowing with hits from the guitar playing teen. Payton is a prime example to other young aspiring artists in showing them what happens when you “Dare to Dream.” Check out the interview with her below to see what she told Young Celebrity News about her music.

Being a young country singer, do you get compared to Taylor Swift often? If yes, how do you feel about it?

I think being compared to such a talented artist is an honor. Taylor Swift has set a high bar for country mu-sic and she truly loves what she does. It’s so inspiring.

We know you’ve been singing for quite some time! Tell us if you can remember what you were feeling when you sang the national anthem for thousands of people at the Houston Comets Basketball game?

Looking back at that night, I remember bits and pieces of it. I remember how loud the crowd was when I got to the part in the song “and the rock-ets red glare, the bombs burst-ing in air”. It was like a roar of cheering that I’ve never expe-rienced before. It was the most amazing feeling.

You have an awesome fan base, great music out and have toured many places! What’s the next step for Payton Rae?

Right now we are working on getting back into the studio to record new music. I’m so excited about this next project because I got the privilege to write with some very talented songwriters such as Liz Rose, Odie Blackmon and Kenny Greenberg, just to name a few.

What motivates you to write songs? And what has been your favorite song you’ve written and why?

Being a teenager, my past and recent relationships have a very strong effect on my songwriting. When I go into a writing session, I write from my heart and that’s what makes it so special. Also being able to co-write with other writers is amazing because sometimes they are able to say things that I wanna say – but in a way I would have never thought to phrase it. My favorite song I have written so far is a new one, a ballad, that has not yet been released. This song paints a picture and is so extremely relatable. When I sing it, I can’t help but close my eyes and imagine the real life experience being played over and ver again in my head.

Top 3 Things You’re Doing When Not Working on Music?1. Being outdoors and staying active2. Have sleepovers with friends 3. Go to the beach

What advice can you give your fans about writing their own music?

What makes writing so special is being able to put your feelings out there in a way that you usual-ly wouldn’t be able to. When you write from your heart, that song will have such a big impact on you and others. When you do just that, people can really feel the emotion throughout the song.

One of your most embarrass-ing moments?

I love this question. My most embarrass-ing moment was when I was on a first date. We went bowling and I was going up to bowl and as I was about to roll the ball down the lane, my fingers got stuck in it.The guy couldn’t get it off so I had to ask a worker. It was so embarrassing.

What advice can you offer to up and coming artists today wanting to make a career out of music?

I think it’s so important to believe in yourself. When you have a dream in your heart, it’s placed there for a rea-son. Go out there and don’t be afraid to give it 110%. Dream BIG! There’s no such thing as having a dream that’s too big. Never limit yourself and reach for the stars.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a singer? I always knew it. It was just a matter of time for me to mold myself into a singer that I am today.

How do you prepare mentally before a show? I talk to my mom ask her for her blessing. I try to collect all of my thoughts and breath. Just that 30 seconds be-fore I go on live needs to be silenced in my head. I still get butterflies before each show, I guess that makes me a human.

Who are some of your influences today?I have a lot of influences and most of them are classical composers and artists like Gaga, Demi Lovato, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Adele they keep me up to date etc.

What are some of the obstacles you’ve had to face while pursuing a career in music? It’s a good question. I don’t know everything so music business in itself is an interesting learning experience. I try to over come every obstacle and stay positive regardless of the outcome. Got to keep your head up.

Tell us about your upcoming single Californ-i-a? And how you feel about this new track?I feel amazing! It’s like Demi Lovato said “once you hear a hit single you know it”

Are you working on any new projects for the New Year?Yes, everyday I am working on something new. At the moment we are very focused on going out on a tour! So look out for me!

What’s your favorite song right now that you can’t stop listening to?Is it bad that its my own single? I have Californ-i-a on re-peat. I’m very proud of our work I have an amazing team of producers.

What advice would you share with others pursuing a career in music?Keep working hard and you will get to where you see yourself to be. Dream big and don’t take anything to the heart. Be yourself and remember who you are and don’t let anyone tell you any different.

What is the meaning of your group’s name?

First, let us introduce ourselves we are brothers Kimbro “Be Easy” Dominguez and Tevon “City the Professor” Domin-guez, together we go by the name FK. The meaning of our group name Flight Klubb started as just a group of friends who all have one thing in common. We believe in “No Sleep” we grind all day and night, we didn’t care if we got any rest. We referred to that as “Flighting”. So that’s how we came up with the name Flight Klubb. Now our group goes by the name FK for short.

How do you plan to stand out in the music industry today?

Everything we do, we tend to do it our own way. We always try to set the bar high for ourselves. We feel like not only will our music set us apart from other artists or groups, but our grind itself will stand out from other artists in the industry.

Do you still get nervous when you per-form?

We wouldn’t call it getting nervous, but more of an adrenaline rush of extreme anticipation. There’s always a sense of ex-citement when we perform, that’s probably why we love performing so much.

Does it get hard pursuing a career in hip hop with so many others wanting to as well?

Not for us, nowadays everybody wants to be a “rapper”. It’s kind of turning into a fad, or trend. But we just try to focus on our careers, and try to perfect our crafts. But with time all trends eventually fade away, and talent stays.

Flight KlubbGrinding All Dayby Michelle Tuyub

Flight Klubb is a group that believes in grinding all day and night and has instilled a “No Sleep” mentality in their lives. Becoming an official group in 2009, brothers Kimbro “Be Easy” Domin-guez and Tevon “City the Professor” Dominguez are a talented duo making a name in Hip Hop. Raised around various music genres, Flight Klubb was influenced by Outkast and decided to go for the hip hop route when they were 9 and 10. Setting the bar high for them-selves, they are aiming to perfect their music and leave a long lasting impression in the music industry.

Born and raised in New Orleans, La this duo is sparking interest around the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. They have three mixtapes out and just released their newest one on February 5th titled “Feb 5.” Along with that, FK is planning on releasing a stream of videos for their fans to view. FK knows the necessary steps in making it big and are dedicated to do the all the groundwork it takes in order to become the artists they aspire to be.

How do you know when the right production is perfect for your song?

We usually know the production is right when there’s a instant connection. We like to joke around that’s where most of our record come from. So whenever we hear a beat the rhythms and melodies turn into words, and there you have it a “perfect production”.

Are you guys working on a new project for the New Year?

Yes, we actually have a mixtape scheduled to be released on February 5, 2013 titled “Feb 5”, you can check for it on datpiff.com around that time. We also plan on releasing a stream of videos and mixtapes this year.

How long does it take you to perfect a song in the studio?

It can sometimes be an ongoing process. We like to write records before we record them, just so we can already visualize how we want the record to sound. If we hear anything wrong or out of place, we would contact our engineer.

What made you get into hip hop music?

Honestly, we were raised around music. Not just hip hop, but different genres of music, such as Smooth R&B, Pop, and Punk Rock. But we eventually fell in love with hip hop at the ages of 9 and 10. Since those young ages we knew this is what we wanted to do.

What would you be doing if you weren’t doing music?

If we weren’t doing music we would probably be mod-ern day hippies, traveling the world and seeing what different places have to offer.

What advice would you give other up and coming art-ists today?

The advice we would give other up and coming artists today is, make sure this is what you truly want to do. Also you have to start from the bottom and work your way to the top, you must put in ground work. After all you can’t build a building with out a foundation.

SJ3Turning Dreams Into Realityby Lisa Wilson

SJ3, who are a group of three friends, have brought their bond together in music. If you’re wondering what the name means, SJ3 is short for South Jersey 3. The number 3 indicates that they have three elements to their sound including Pop, R&B and Hip Hop. Like many bands and artists today, SJ3 have given their fans a special name. There is TeamSJ3 and Sj3Sweethearts, which is for any fan that promotes the group by sharing their updates daily on twitter and other ways they can.

Now the talented young up and coming stars are work-ing on a new project for the year titled “We Are SJ3.” Taking their own advice and never giving up on their dream, the group has been persistently working on new material and enhancing their skills with practice. Which has paid off because this talented group continues to see their dreams turn into reality. Check out what they had to tell us in their interview!

In one word who is SJ3?Entertainers
