JERK, CALIFORNIA BY JONATHAN FRIESEN

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH4:00-5:30 PM

Everything about Sam Carrier, the hated twitchy freak with Tourette Syndrome, will change after graduation. All thanks to Coot’s long journey and the love of his life. He’ll forget the jokes, the hateful step father, his weak mother, his name and most of all, the lies about his biological father.

BOOK DISCUSSIONS

DARK DUDEBY OSCAR HIJUELOS

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH4:00-5:30 PM

Like an urban Wizard of Oz, Dark Dude is the story of Rico, a white skinned Cuban kid from the mean streets of Harlem transplanted to a place far far away. When Rico cannot take the streets anymore he runs away to a commune run by homeboy Gilberto in upstate Wisconsin. Like Dorothy he has to deal with a lot of adversity and life changes, until he finally decides, “There is no place like home.”
