8.00-9.00 am 1 LU for AIA/CES (HSW/SD) - STEEL YOURSELF- SPECIAL USE DOORS AND FRAMES Learn about special use steel doors and frames available in today’s market, with particular emphasis on “sustainable steel” and its use in the door and frame industry. Several segments of the door market will be hi-lighted including: Blast resistant, Bullet resistant, Acoustic, Lead Lined and Tornado resistant doors and frames. Discussion includes the importance of the performance of doors and frames in maintaining the overall performance requirements of a project. Speaker: Larry Crutchfield, Ambico Ltd.
9.00-10.00 am 1 LU for AIA/CES (HSW/SD) - DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE: UNDERSTANDING LIGHT AND MEDIUM DENSITY OPEN AND CLOSED CELL SPRAY FOAM INSULATION (SPF)With spray foam insulation replacing many earlier generations of insulation, understanding the type of SPF to apply to a building envelope is critical to the building’s energy and environmental performance. This course provides a better understanding of the different performance characteristics of light and medium density open and closed cell SPF insulation. Several applications based on SPF type, climate zone and project team goals are discussed, including SPF’s play in heat transfer, air sealing, R-value, moisture control and green building design and construction. Several additional important concepts will also be covered including the sustainable attributes of SPF blowing agents and thermal barrier requirements.Speaker: Richard Quandt, Icynene
