OUR MISSION is to help others grow and
believe in Jesus Christ, allowing Him to take an
active part in their recovery from substance addiction.
OUR BELIEF is that the inspired word of God must be our fundamental source
and inspiration in the profes-sional counselling, treatment
and rehabilitation process. Above all, we believe that
love and compassion should be at the heart of a Biblical
based ministry.
OUR GOAL is to be a safe, structured and
supportive environment for women who desire freedom
from their substance abusing lifestyle.

ALUmnI HOUsE – OpEnEd JUnE 3, 2013
On June 3rd our Alumni House had its first resident move in. There have been so many kind people that took part in making the house such a lovely home. Keller Williams Realty arrived on May 9th with a crew of about 60 realtors to paint and carry out some yard work. We were so grateful to be chosen as their community project this year and they did an amazing job. Many others have also shown incred-ible support in providing what was needed to have the house ready for occupancy. John Pool took care of the maintenance, Gary Fast took care of the landscaping and Fairfield Nurseries donated trees to help with the privacy in the back yard. Thank you to all of you who helped with the transformation of our property!
The Alumni House can take up to 5 women, as well as a House Mum, who will keep an eye on things and oversee the clients. This home enables women to have a clean, affordable place to stay in a semi-independent setting as they continue to grow strong in their recovery. There is also structure, so that they can continue to prepare themselves for the workforce. Two of our residents are en-rolled in BladeRunners, which provides employment opportunities for participants and the ultimate goal is for them to gain sufficient skills and experience that will translate into a long-term attachment to the labour force. Providing this added support will make such a difference to the women, as support is vital for success.
We had an Open House on July 20th and some supporters came and took a look around the house and connected with the women who will be living there.

FEATURE sUCCEss sTORY
Before coming into LIFE Recovery I was shattered, broken down and ready to die. I had given up on everything for my addic-tion to crystal meth and heroin. I did things I swore I would never do to support my habit but worst of all, I just stopped caring. My addiction lead me to be a homeless street girl that lived in a cardboard boxes, dumpster diving, constantly living in psychosis and being picked up by the police on a regular basis. I challenged death, but God had a different idea. One night he worked through a police officer, who stopped me because I just looked suspicious. It turned out there was a warrant for my arrest for breaching my probation conditions and I was brought out of Surrey to Chilliwack for my charges. In court God literally picked me up out of the mire and set me on safe land. If the police had not picked me up that night I would have died. I was so incred-ibly sick and there was no stopping me. When I was released, I called my mom and asked for her help. She and my grandma told me about this place called LIFE Recovery. They heard a testimony of a woman who went through the program, with a similar story to mine and she is now 7 years clean! This gave me encouragement and a glimmer of hope. The day I came to LIFE Recovery I felt an overwhelming sense of peace, joy and rest. It was the first time I felt safe and loved in many years. Since being here God has moved through my life like a whirlwind. He is restoring my mind, my health and my family. He is bringing real people into my life; people I can build healthy relationships with, people I can trust and people I can be honest with, people I feel safe with. I feel safe and God is showing me that I am not alone, that I can have an amazing future beyond anything I could ever imagine. Since I’ve been here I have made more positive memories that I have in the last 7 years. Today I have a purpose for life, because my life is worth living. There are still challenges, hard times and struggles, but with God on my side I can walk through these struggles and come out a stronger person and hopefully be used to help someone else that goes through a rough time. Doing things in my own will brought me nothing but misery, pain and destruction. Doing things God’s way brings me peace, hope, joy, love, passion and a life worth living!

In May Christian Stewardship Services hosted a Will Clinic at Trinity CRC. This was a very informative night and we really appreciate their professionalism in presenting their services. They also explained about a Revocable Term Deposit, which is an investment tool that puts your money to work in ministry. CSS receives your deposit and earns interest on it. (2012 net interest earnings were 4%). Interest earnings are distributed 50/50 between you and your charity of choice. You also receive a charitable donation receipt for the portion donated. Please feel free to contact them if you require any further information with re-gard to your investments email [email protected] or call 1-800-267-8890.

THRIFT sTORE
LIFE’s Second Chance has approximately 65 volunteers and along with Marian, the Thrift Store Manager, they do a great job of making the thrift store the suc-cess it is. Marian is the one to contact if you would like more information about becoming a volunteer, please call 604-854-5928. The clients at LIFE Recovery do one 4 hour shift a week at the store. We believe this give them great retail skills, as well as being able to give back to the ministry that supports them.
The store now has a great loading bay and we are thankful to Remple Concrete for donating cement to finish the project. Why not check us out – you won’t be disappointed. We are open Monday to Saturday 9:30 – 4:30. We are closed Sunday’s and statutory holidays. #7 – 31550 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford. Our truck will pick up donations of furniture and items from estates. Please contact Bill Vantol at 604-854-5928
