Every student in our school is individually known and loved. Teachers are more familiar with students’ individual needs and are able to give their students more one-on-one attention during class.
Because we are small, we can offer big opportunities for our students to shine –
in academics, fine arts, music, service, and/or athletics. There is something for everyone on our campus.
“Everyone has driven past York Catholic or at least heard of the historic
building on Springettsbury Avenue, and I was one of those people. With a long
proud family history of uncles and grandparents going to York Catholic, I knew
it was my time to continue the tradition. After going to public school for years, I
saw myself not growing in my studies or as an athlete. Not knowing everyone
in my grade was an issue for me because I did not have the immediate
connection with my peers. But I knew once I set up the meeting with Ms.
Hoffman, that my life was going to change. I walked in the building and felt the
immediate positive energy coming through all of the students and faculty.
Everyone said hi to me and asked where I was coming from and told me
about the experience they have had at York Catholic. I knew in my
mind that this was the place for my future.
Once I made the transition, I was a part of
the family right away. Being an athlete, York Catholic puts
everyone in the best possible place as an athlete for you to succeed. When
you wear the York Catholic uniform on a Friday night or on the soccer field,
you are a part of an historic program — a program filled with great tradition
and success. Also, getting involved in clubs was the best choice I have ever
made. It makes the York Catholic experience even better. Every club allows
you to put your own input into the school, and that is what makes our school
different from everyone else. I am a part of a family. A family that will take care
of me while I’m in school and once I graduate. I know I can always go back
and look to my teachers if I ever need them again. Going to York Catholic is
not just a change in school, it is a life changing experience. Once an Irishman,
always an Irishman.”

Our York Catholic students
are very well-rounded. While
academics are the priority,
extracurriculars are always
encouraged. Because we are a
small school, students are
encouraged to participate in as
many clubs as their schedules
allow. This keeps our students
well-rounded and allows all of
our clubs to be successful.
Our rich performing and
visual arts programs encourage
students to explore their more
creative side. Students can
express themselves in art,
music, and theatre. Programs
include: acting, singing,
orchestra, stage management,
drawing, painting, sculpture, as
well as many instrumental and
vocal clubs and classes. Two
annual stage productions and
our art show showcase some of
our students’ artistic talents.

“York Catholic High School has so much to offer to their students with an outstanding number of activities, clubs, and teams. Almost every student at YC takes advantage of these opportunities in one way or another and are encouraged to participate in as many ways as they can. Personally, I have been a part of many of these groups including competitive, basketball, and football cheerleading squads, track and field team, fall play and musical cast, concert and graduation choir and band, student council, student ambassadors, culture club, and homecoming committee. Each of these activities lets me express myself and brings me closer to different groups of wonderful people who I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet if I hadn’t joined. Not every person will enjoy the same activities, but I can promise any prospective student that they will find a group at YC that lets them
pursue their own interests. At York Catholic, we are more than classmates; we are a family. In the YC family, there is a place for everybody. Whether it is
through one activity or 12, know that You Will Belong at York Catholic!”

Our student section affectionately calls
themselves the “Catholic Crazies.” While their
behavior is far from crazy, they show a crazy
amount of Irish pride at our sporting events!
The students choose dress code themes for
games, buckle in and ride the student section
roller coaster, and yell with the cheerleaders.
They support their teams in sunshine, rain, and
snow. They travel miles to support their
classmates. They celebrate their triumphs and
lament their losses. Together they are a team.
They are a family.
Throughout the school year, our students
look forward to participating in many of the
“extra” events offered to them. These events
include Mini-THON®, dances, coffee house
nights, the color run, talent show, speech
festival, bonfire, spirit week, and the badminton
tournament, just to name a few.

YOU BELONG IN OUR COMMUNITYYOU BELONG IN OUR COMMUNITYYOU BELONG IN OUR COMMUNITY When faith is integrated into a rigorous academic program, York Catholic students gain a more complete education and world view. A York Catholic student benefits from dynamic, daily formation through religious classes, weekly chaplain visits, and a variety of liturgy opportunities. Our students can attend our weekly Thursday liturgy and participate in our monthly liturgies as lectors, gift bearers, choir members, altar servers, and Eucharistic Ministers. Adoration and Reconciliation are offered at various times throughout the year. Prayer is a regular occurrence in our daily lives. Every class starts with classroom prayer and we pray as a united school community at the start of the day, noon time, and to end our day. We also emphasize service and community. We encourage our students to reach out to those in need and to assume responsibility for helping to make their world a better place. Community service is a huge part of our daily lives. Last year, our students volunteered over 20,000 hours of service to our local community. Our students learn to live the Gospel values taught by Jesus; they learn to walk with God.
But what if I’m not Catholic? York Catholic accepts students of all religions. Approximately 17% of our students are non-Catholic, and approximately 35% of our students attended a public or non-Catholic school prior to York Catholic. While Religion is a required class, your Religion teacher will help you navigate this new experience.

“Service is a very important part of my life. I enjoy helping those who are in need in our community. Being able to make someone else’s day makes me want to continue serving and to encourage others to serve too. My favorite place to serve was the Holiday Drive at the Bon Ton. The Holiday Drive is run by the Children’s Home of York which is a nonprofit organization that serves children who are victims of trauma and their families. Every year around Christmas, other volunteers and I help collect and sort toys for the Drive. Each child writes down things they want for Christmas, then people in the community donate new toys and gift cards to the Drive. Each item is then tied with the child’s name and sorted. Being able to help kids get gifts for Christmas really warms my
heart and is the only gift that I need. I truly love serving to make a difference in the world and I never plan to stop.”

♣ Complete application. ♣ Print the Unofficial Records Release Form and give it to your current school. ♣ Return application with the $25 application fee.
Ms. Hoffman, our Admissions Director, will be in touch to set up an interview once all documents are received. An investment in your future York Catholic understands the financial demands a Catholic education can put on the family. However, seeing the outcome of your well-rounded child is a blessing beyond the years of sacrifice. All financial aid applications are completed online through FACTS tuition management (https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3NGSK). The deadline for the 2019-20 school year is April 15, which includes sending all supporting documents to FACTS. You will use financial information from 2018. Often applications are delayed because the family did not send supporting documents. While admissions applications are accepted after the April 15 deadline, the financial aid funds are far more limited after this date. 36% of our current student population receives financial assistance. Families with multiple children enrolled at York Catholic are eligible for a break on tuition. Student transportation Students travel to York Catholic via various school district busing services, the York Catholic southern buses, or parent/student carpools. York City busing is available through Rabbit Transit for a fee and York Catholic’s southern busing is also an additional fee.
REACH YOUR GOALS LIKE DYLAN SMITH speaker one night in front of the whole
summit. I also bonded with so many
members of my group and the overall
program. It felt like I had known
everyone there for years, instead of a
couple days. The leader of the program
even asked me where I learned how to
communicate effectively with group
members, where I learned my
leadership skills, and how I became
such an eloquent public speaker. And I
answered him by saying I learned
it all from York Catholic
High School. I would have
never had the great
experience that I had at
Harvard without the skills
YC had taught me since
the beginning of 7th
grade.”
“Last summer I had the amazing
opportunity to attend an Ambassador
Leadership Summit at Harvard
University. This was a week-long event
where I stayed on campus learning
various leadership skills that would
prepare me for life after high school. I
had the privilege to spend the week
alongside kids my age from all across
the United States and the world. After
being divided into groups of about 15
students, each one of us worked
together to form a community action
plan that would solve a particular
problem in our community. We
listened to two panels that taught us
about college life and the need for
global cooperation, and some down
time was also available to get to know
our fellow students and proctors.
I worked hard to quickly make a
name for myself in my group and in the
overall summit. My idea for the
community action plan was accepted
by my group. The teacher for the
group even saw my leadership skills
and chose me to introduce our guest
