Continuing the Fight against Waste, Fraud and Abuse

Another week, another million of your tax dollars saved. On Tuesday, the House passed my amendment blocking one of the most wasteful examples of taxpayer funds I have ever seen. Did you know the EPA gives money to Russia and other countries to implement climate change programs? Not any more. My amendment will ensure American tax dollars are used to support American interests here at home. Click HERE to read more.

Putting a Stop to Obama's "Assault on the Suburbs"

This week, President Obama finally introduced his new "Fair Housing" regulation which marks his most aggressive attempt yet to force his utopian ideology on American communities disguised under the banner of "fairness". This new Washington mandate has nothing to do with race, as housing discrimination has been illegal for more than 40 years. This overreaching new regulation is an attempt to extort communities into giving up control of local zoning decisions and reengineer the makeup of our neighborhoods. Just as the president has used the DOJ, IRS and DHS as a political weapon, he has now expanded his arsenal to include HUD as a way of punishing neighborhoods that don’t fall in line with his liberal agenda.

The House of Representatives twice voted in favor of amendments I introduced that sought to protect local zoning decisions and rejected this intrusive Washington mandate. I will continue to fight this misguided regulation and do everything in my power to ensure not a single penny is appropriated to this big government takeover of America’s neighborhoods.

Military Monday

This week’s Military Monday honors Harry Oberg of Prescott, Arizona. Harry served as an Army helicopter pilot during his two tours to Vietnam.

Harry has lived in Prescott since he was two-years old and upon graduating from Arizona State College, he was drafted on November 6, 1966. Harry’s first command assignment was in Germany in 1972 as the Headquarters and Troop Commander in charge of roughly 400 soldiers. These brave soldiers were providing staff support to combat line units of the reconnaissance squadron that belonged to a cavalry regiment near the East German border. And remember, if you know of a current or former member of the military in the fourth district that you would like to recognize for Military Monday, send me a message with their contact information at: http://gosar.house.gov/contact-me or facebook.com/repgosar via direct message.
