I have attached the official invitation and also background information on the Garma Festival. This years Garma festival's key forum is called "Indigenous People and the Environment", which has a focus on the green turtle. Environment Australia, Alcan, WWF, Minerals Councils of Australia, Rio Tinto and the Yothu Yindi Foundation fund the forum. Further information is available at web site: http://www.garma.telstra.com It is our understanding that Monica Kuhon is in consultation with senior traditional leaders of Turtle Island (Pulau Serangan), a sacred island off Bali, to work towards the development of a foundation, which will work on a sustainable development program which would lead to furthering the prospects for the people of turtle island. The aim is to promote cultural, environmental and social awareness through the development of various sustainable development programs Monica's visit to the Garma Festival will give her valuable practical experience in the structures of a non profit foundation. The Yothu Yindi Foundation is happy to confirm that the registration fee for the Garma Festival will be waived for Monica Kuhon and that we will look after all accommodation and living expenses whilst visiting Australia to attend the Garma Festival of Traditional Culture. Any support you can give to this project will be greatly appreciated. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need further information. Yours sincerely, Britta Decker / for Yothu Yindi Foundation
