On October 16, 2018, Suicide Prevention of York and York County Communities That Care are
hosting a community forum for an exchange of views on suicide, drugs, and mental illness.
Suicide: York County has had at least one suicide a month since December 1999.
Overdose Deaths: Drug-related deaths in the county are among the highest in the state for a county the
size and population of York.
Mental Illness: Surveys continue to show school aged children in York County experience serious periods of
depression and thoughts of suicide.
Mental Illness, substance abuse, suicide, murder-suicide, child abuse, termination of parental rights, and
homelessness are everywhere in York County: city, towns, rural areas, and suburbs. These trends hurt all
of us. For many of our friends and neighbors who lose a loved one, the pain will last a lifetime.
Where: HACC, York Campus,
2010 Pennsylvania Ave., York, PA 17404
Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
