Introduction

"Year Make Model Advance Search" Shopify App allows your customers to find products on your

website by Year, Make, Model or any custom field you created with the help of this App. This Search

Module provides robust solutions for automotive ecommerce, spare parts, electronic products etc

What Type of YMM Product Filter can you create?

Use our App into Vehicle (Bike / Cars / Boats / Printer / Cartridegs / Parts etc) Store as per your

convenient requirement. You can create search dropdowns like Year, Make, Model, Sub Model /

Engine etc. As per your requirements.

How YMM Advance Search works?

YMM Advance Search helps customers to find products with easiest way. YMM Advance Search manages through assigning tags in to Products.

For Instance :

You want to show “AUDI A3” Car on Year : 2015 , Make : Audi , Model : A3 , You will required to add

Tags to “AUDI A3” Car. With three tags. : YR_2015, MK_AUDI, MD_A3

Tag1: YR_2015 (Year - Tag Prefix: “YR_”)

Tag2: MK_AUDI (Make - Tag Prefix: “Mk_”)

Tag3: MD_A3 (Model- Tag Prefix: “MD_”)

IMPORTANT! If You do not want to add tags manually then you can assign YMM record to Your

store products using our APP >> "ADD YMM" section. So tags will automatically assigned to your

product while you ADD/EDIT YMM record entry in APP. Here, you can assign your products to

YMM records and according to those tags will be added to those products. (You can refer tutorial

for automatically assigning Tags in Products at PAGE - 6 )

NOTE: YMM Advance Search works only when there are tags assigned in Products for

corresponding YMM values.





How to Manage Fields for YMM (Multiple Dropdowns)?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Manage Fields.

Manage Fields Section:

From here, You can add multiple dropdowns as per your requirement. You can Manage YMM

Fields/Dropdowns for:

Add more Fields/Dropdowns for your YMM Filter (e.g.: sub model, airbags, engine size, body

style etc.) Rename Fields/Dropdowns (You can provide Field Labels here, which appears on Frontend) Remove Fields/Dropdowns (Note: First any two Fields are mandatory. So, you cannot REMOVE

it) Field/Dropdown value sorting order such as either in “Ascending” or “Descending” (e.g. You can

display latest years first by select descending order for it.) Change Fields/Dropdowns position by just DRAG and DROP field (This will be applied as Field`s

Sorting Order on Frontend)





How to Manage Data for YMM?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Manage YMM.

Manage YMM Section:

From Here, You can Manage YMM data by Edit / Delete / Search operations.

Add YMM Section:

From Here, You can ADD YMM Data for specific collection (which is optional) as well as you can

assign tags to Products easily.

Step-1: If You want to show collection specific YMM records on frontend collection page then

you can add YMM values to Specific Collection (Optional). If there are not any collection specific

values then it will show all YMM records.

Step-2: You can Assign Tags in to Products for current YMM Record just by selecting Products

with single click and it will automatically Assign Tags in products while you SAVE record.

Note: YMM Advance Search works based on Product Tags. Please use this feature to assign tags in

your Product(s)





How to Assign Tags to Products Manually for YMM Record?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Assign Tags.

Assign Tags Section:

From Here, You can assign tags to Products for YMM Records manually.

IMPORTANT! You must have to ADD Tags followed by Tag Prefix for Each YMM for e.g. if tag prefix for Year Field is “YR_” (Tag Prefix) and year value is: 2015 then you have to add year tag in Product as “YR_2015”

Step-1: Where to get tag prefixes for YMM Fields/Dropdowns?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Manage Fields.

From here, You can get Tag Prefix for each field for e.g. “YR_” for Year field.





Step-2: Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Assign Tags.

From here, You can Assign Tags into selected product manually by Click on Update Tags.

Step-3: You can Add Tags for YMM record into Product (e.g. BMW 3 Series – 320d Sport Line) for

e.g. “YR_2016” (Year Tag), “MK_BMW”(Make Tag) and “MD_BMW 3 Series” (Model Tag)





How to Import YMM Records?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search Import/Export.

Import / Export Section:

From here, you can Import/Export YMM Records as well as Export store collections CSV, if you want to Add YMM records for specific collection.

To Import YMM Records, Please follow below Steps:

Step-1: If you're not sure about CSV Format then Please click on Export YMM CSV OR Download Sample CSV by just click on button.

Step-2: If you want to Import YMM records with Collections then please click on Export Collection Handles CSV button, from that CSV you can copy Collection Handles and paste into your YMM records CSV. (Optional)

(Note: if you do not want to add collection specific records then leave it blank. Do not Delete Collection Handle Column.)





How to use Template Shortcode to Display YMM on Frontend?

Go to Admin Apps Year Make Model Advance Search How to Use it.

How to Use it Section:

You can Copy Template Shortcode just by click on Copy to Clipboard button. You can Change YMM Search box title by just enter title and Select Search box style such as

either Horizontal OR Vertical in Modify template code section.

NOTE: You can Re-install App Files here by click on Install Files.





Where to Paste Template Shortcode?

Click on Go to Theme and select for e.g. “collection.liquid” file from templates folder and Paste

Template Shortcode in a file, wherever you want to show YMM Search Filter on frontend.

If you want to Display YMM on Homepage then select “index.liquid” file or to show it on all

pages then paste template Shortcode in a “theme.liquid” file.

IMPORTANT! NOTE: It is not necessary that “collection.liquid” file is always found in templates

folder, if it’s not there then you can paste short-code to any specific liquid file of your theme.

Question: How to exclude YMM records related Tags from Shopify tag filter dropdown in

Collection Page?

Answer: Go to Shopify Admin Online Store Themes and choose your Active Theme.

For instance: Your current Active theme is DEBUT.

Then Go to Sections folder and choose collection-template.liquid file and follow below two steps:

Step-1: Search with this string >> {% for tag in collection.all_tags %} in file.

Step-2: After find above line, just add below lines of code before {% endfor %} line.

{% assign checktag = tag | split: '_' %}

{% assign checksize = checktag | size %}

{% unless checksize > 1%}

{{ tag }}

{% endunless %}
