YEUK Young
Professional Launch Youth Employment UK CIC (YEUK) are officially launching our YEUK Young
Professional programme with a 6 week pledge challenge.
The programme supports young people in their personal and professional
development by explaining the skills and behaviours employers want, and
providing a library of resources so they can build and demonstrate those
qualities. The programme is free for all young people aged 16-24 and is the
revamped membership offer for young people which YEUK provides.
YEUK CEO Laura-Jane Rawlings says “At YEUK we believe every young person
has the right to be inspired and empowered to achieve their potential. The
YEUK Young Professional Membership puts the tools into young people’s
hands to begin to change the way they and the world see them. “
The campaign is running from 19th September to 28th October. The aim of the
campaign is to have:
1,000 young people signed up as YEUK Young Professionals

people in support of the YEUK Young Professional membership

for
Organisations and Young People
How Long Does The Programme Take To Complete?
We’ve found that the slideshows and quizzes take about half an hour on
average, based on feedback from young people who have completed them.
Who Is It For?
The YEUK Young Professional is aimed at ALL young people 16-24. If they’re in
education, training, employment, or currently working out their next steps
they can make the choice to become a YEUK Young Professional. There’s no
specific grades required, just a commitment to their personal development!
What About Young People With A Disability or Other Access Barrier?
We are working on some accessible versions of the programme,
unfortunately we haven’t had the resources to be able to create these yet but
they will be released as soon as possible. In the mean time you may like to
support young people with additional needs in completing the training. We
are also currently working with our ambassador network to start a peer
support service, details of which will be released soon.
So What’s In It For Young People?
By becoming a YEUK Young Professional young people can put the status on
their CV/LinkedIn profile, and we already have a number of employers who
are guaranteeing an interview to all YEUK Young Professionals so long as they
meet the essential criteria for a job advertised! As well as this they get access
to the Young Professional Hub, which is a resource library full of tips,
information, videos, interviews, and other things to enable them to continue
their development. It’s important to keep learning and growing, and we add
new content to the hub each week to keep it fresh!
Young People sign up on the
website and are taken
through the young
professional programme
then take a small quiz in
order to qualify as a YEUK
Young Professional.
Once a young person has achieved 80% or more in the quiz (they can retake it as many times as
they like) they gain access to our exclusive Young Professional hub—a library of content and
resources on each of the YEUK Young Professional Principles; from Ted Talks to online courses
they can take to continue their personal and professional development. This area is being
updated weekly so there is always something new for YEUK Young Professionals to engage
with!

Some Quotes About the Programme Which You Can Use:
“The whole idea of this is fab and I think it would help a lot of young people to find
out what skills they have and what skills they need to improve to use for work oppor-
tunities, we can all say we have the relevant skills ready for work but this Quiz can
actually access your real life work skills. It can also give you real life examples (in the
questions which can really help improve your skills). I feel it will definitely help a lot
of young people to find out what skills they do have, this can also be added to their
CV and showing this knowledge to an employer would be really positive.” Ben Fisher
YEUK Youth Ambassador
“The YEUK Young Professional allows an opportunity for a young person to decide
‘you known what, I can be anything I want to be and YEUK are going to kick-start my
career.’ With more employers guaranteeing interviews for young people completing
the programme we are effectively socially changing the mind-set of young people
and employers alike to ensure a better tomorrow for our young people.” Sam Bell
YEUK Youth Ambassador
“The Young Professional programme provides high quality exposure to the world of work and will enable a young person to be inspired, motivated and gain valuable knowledge and skills to create opportunities that will allow them to achieve their potential” Charlotte Bosworth Director of Skills and Employment at OCR

The YEUK Young Professional Programme is changing the way that young
people see themselves and are viewed by prospective employers. The
programme explores 12 skills and behaviours employers expect employees to
have (such as teamwork, resilience, and initiative) that not all young people
will have had the chance to develop. The Young Professional Hub is a regularly
updated library of resources to support young people in their personal and
professional growth. The aim is that all young people can take ownership of
their own professional development to become ‘work ready’ and employers
will recognise the YEUK Young Professional status when recruiting.
