    Welcome to the Yes Life user guide.

    Weve made this user guide to help you get the most out of your Yes Life experi-ence. Well cover a lot of the important stuff, like how to get your Yes ID, how tosign into Yes Life, how to send an SMS, how to make a voice call, plus a wholelot more.

    Included in the back of the user guide is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)section. This handy reference covers a lot of the questions we hear frompeople just like you. Odds are, if you have a problem or question regarding YesLife, youll nd the answer there.

    Creating your Yes ID Installing Yes Life

    To sign in to Yes Life, you will need to have a Yes ID. If you already have aYes ID, great, you are ready to move on to the Installation section.

    If you have not subscribed to the Yes service and do not have your unique YesID, please visit www.yes.my for more information.

    For those of you who do not have a Yes ID, you might be wondering, What is aYes ID? Were glad you asked! Here is the quick answer:

    A Yes ID is your unique ID that youll use to access Yes suite of converged ser-vices. Its the ID you use to access the Yes 4G network and it comes with a 018

    number that you can use for call and SMS - both local and international.

    If that wasnt enough, your Yes ID also becomes your email address (just [email protected]). For example, if your Yes ID is Johnny, your Yes email address wouldbe [email protected].

    Downloading and installing Yes Life takes just a few simple steps.

    If you dont already have the Yes Life installer on your computer (or on a Yes Godongle or CD), you can download the latest version from www.yes.my.

    Signing in to Yes Life

    The sign in page is the front door to your Yes Life.

    This is where you enter your Yes ID and password. You can save your Yes IDand password so that the next time you open Yes Life, signing in will be aseasy as clicking a button.

    If you have a prole picture associated with yourYes ID, it will appear here.

    Enter your Yes ID here.

    Enter your password here.

    Once youve entered your Yes ID and password,click here to sign in.

    Your Yes ID is saved for the next time you sign in.

    Your password can be saved for the next time you sign in.

    If youve saved both your Yes ID and password, youcan have Yes Life sign in automatically when it opens.

    More than one person can share the same version of Yes Life. You caninstall Yes Life on the family computer and everyone can make calls fromtheir own Yes account.

    Everyones conversations and contacts are kept private, so dont worryabout anyone else snooping around your conversations or call history.As long as everyone using the shared copy of Yes Life has a different YesID, they will have their own separate Yes Life.

    Introduction: The Contact List

    The contact list is the heart of Yes Life.

    This is where you manage your contacts, start voice calls or SMS messages,add friends, set your state and status, and a whole lot more.

    Take a look at the illustration to the left to familiarize yourself with the mainparts of the contact list. Dont worry if you dont understand everything at rst:we will walk you through the most important parts in the next few pages.

    Your phone number. Click it to open yourMy account page on yes.my.

    The red counter shows you how many newfriend requests you have. Click it to open thenotications window.

    This button opens the Add a Friend window.

    This button is the main menu. Click it for quick

    access to a whole bunch of useful features.

    This is the state pulldown. This tells your Yesfriends if you are available, busy, away fromyour computer, on a call, or ofine.

    Clicking this button takes you to Yes World, thebest of the web: the latest local and intl. news.

    Your prole picture. Click it to take or upload anew picture.

    Click in the large gray box and type a statusmessage to share with all of your friends.

    Click this to start a voice call.

    Click this to start an SMS message.

    These are your contacts. You can sort them intogroups so you can nd them easier. Create aSchool group for your classmates, or a Familygroup for Mom and Pop, brothers and sisters.

    You can click on a contact to see actions youcan take with that person: voice and video call-ing, SMS, and more. (IM coming soon.)

    Making a voice callWith low, low rates both at home and internationally, Yes Life is a great rstchoice when you want to make a call.

    There are a few ways to make a call in Yes Life. Heres the easiest.

    1 2 3Sign in to Yes Life. Click the icon. The dialpad will open. Dial the number you want to call. Youcan click the numbers on the Yes Lifedialpad, or use the number keys onyour computer keyboard.

    Click the Call button.

    The number will be dialed. Just wait forthe person you called to pick up on theother end. It is that easy!

    Sending an SMSYou can send an SMS from Yes Life to just about anywhere: send to a handheld phone on theYes network or other provider, or to other people who are using Yes Life.

    Theres more than one way to send an SMS. How many can you nd? Heres one to get you started.

    1 2 3Sign in to Yes Life. Click the icon. The new SMS screen will open.

    The drawer on the left shows all of your currentchats. Right now, the new SMS we are creatingis in the SMS tab. An SMS we sent earlier is inthe Ameer Ridhuan tab.

    A tab will blink to let you know a new messagehas arrived, so you never miss a message.

    Simply click on tabs to move between chats.

    You can send more messages to this contactby typing in the text eld at the bottom andclicking the Send SMS button.

    Incoming messages from this contact will alsoshow up in this window.

    Enter a handheld number or a Yes IDof the person you want to message.Enter your message. Click Send.

    Setting up a proleYour prole is made up of your contact information. You can choose to share your prole with everyone, your YesFriends, or with no one. It is up to you. When you rst set up your prole, the information you enter will be sharedwith your Yes Friends. This means that your friends will always have your latest contact info.

    Setting up your prole takes only a few minutes, and will make it easier for your Yes Friends to nd you.

    1 2Sign in to Yes Life. Click the icon.Select Prole... from the menu.

    Your prole page will open. The rst name and last name elds are reallyimportant: you have to ll those out. Everything else is up to you.

    Click on the blue prole pic placeholder to upload or take a prole pic usinga web cam (only works if you have a web cam attached to your computer).

    Once your prole is lled out, click the Apply button at the bottom of theprole page. This will save your information. Your prole is now beingshared with your Yes Friends.

    Adding Yes FriendsA Yes Friend is a contact that you have friended through the Yes network. As Yes Friends, you both get extraperks: you can view each others prole and contact information, as well as state and status updates.

    1 2 3Click the icon. The Add a Friend screen will open. Typethe name of the Yes Friend you want toinvite to be your Friend.

    Click the Add friend button.

    Youve successfully sent a Friend invite.

    For now, this person will appear on your con-tact list as a Pending Friend. When they acceptyour invite, they will appear on your contact listas a full Yes Friend.

    Friend requestsWhen a person invites you to be their Yes Friend, you will receive a Friend request. These requests arekept in the red notications bubble at the top of the contact list. The number on the red bubble shows youhow many new Friend requests you have.

    Adding a prole pictureA prole picture is the purest expression of yourself. There are two ways to get your prole picture intoYes Life: you can upload a picture, or you can take a picture with your webcam.

    General Installation

    Q: How much does Yes Life cost?

    A: You dont have to pay extra to use Yes Life. All you need is a Yes ID, andwhatever you do on Yes Life calls, SMS, etc. is charged based on our lowestapplicable rate. Note that calls and SMS do NOT result in data charges; youonly pay for the service youre using.

    Q: How do I get Yes Life?A: Yes Life is available for download at www.yes.my/support.

    Q: Can I use Yes Life to connect to the Internet via Yes 4G network?A: No, to connect to the Internet via Yes 4G network, you need to use Yes Con-nect, which can be installed via your Go dongle. Alternatively, use one of our

    other 4G connection devices, such as the Huddle mobile hotspot or Zoomhome gateway.

    Q: When will Chinese and Bahasa Melayu be supported?A: We have plans to incorporate multi language capabilities into Yes Life.Please stay tuned.

    Q: Can I share my Yes Life software?A: Yes, you can share Yes Life. The software is free to install. To use Yes Life,you need a Yes ID. To obtain a Yes ID, visit www.yes.my. Note that Yes Life on asingle computer can be used by multiple Yes IDs, as well just sign out from

    one Yes ID and sign in with another.

    Q: How do I change my Yes ID password?A: You can change your password via the Yes portal at www.yes.my in theAccount section. Please note that the changes might take up to an hour toreect in Yes Life, and you may have to use your old password for Yes Life in themeantime.

    Q: What is the recommended computer specications required to

    run Yes Life?A: These are the recommended requirements to run Yes Life:

    2.8GHz Intel Pentium processor 1GB RAM 200MB free hard disk space

    Q: What if my computer is not that powerful?A: Yes Life may run but some features may not work.

    Q: What are the operating systems that can run Yes Life?

    A: Currently, Yes Life runs on:

    Windows XP SP3 Windows Vista SP2 Windows 7

    Please note that Yes Life requires Administrator privileges to install and runproperly. Yes Life for the Mac OSX will be coming in the rst half of 2011.

    Q: What kind of network does Yes Life run on?A: Yes Life runs great on the Yes 4G Network. However, Yes Life can also run

    on a normal wired or wireless connection, as long as the connection is rea-sonably fast and stable, and the protocols and ports Yes Life needs to run arenot blocked. For more information, contact Yes Care and request the Yes LifeNetwork Quick Guide.

    If you have a software rewall, ensure it allows Yes Life to communicate freelywith our servers. Ofce networks may cause Yes Life to lose its functionalities,occasionally even not being able to sign in due to hardware rewall settings.

    Q: When I got a software update message, I pressed OK, Yes Life closed

    down but nothing seems to happen after that.A: When we update Yes Life, we do it in a very quiet way. Once you press OK,even though you dont see any activity, the installer is working in the back-ground to update your software to the latest and greatest version. Once theupgrade is completed, Yes Life will re-launch itself. This will take approximately3 to 5 minutes to complete. Please avoid starting Yes Life or shutting down yourcomputer while the update is being performed as it may disrupt the installation.

    Q: What is the best way to experience Yes Life?A: Yes Life runs great on Yes 4G, but also on any other Internet connection.

    Q: Im having trouble signing in to Yes Life. Whats wrong?A: Please check the following:

    Ensure you are connected to the Internet. Ensure your Yes ID is active with sufcient balance or credit; check

    online at www.yes.my.

    Ensure you have Administrator rights to run Yes Life. Attempt to restart Yes Life and try to sign in again. Restart your computer and try to sign in again. Download the latest version of Yes Life from www.yes.my/support.

    Uninstall your current version and install the one you just downloaded.Try to sign in again.

    Running Yes Life

    If you require Yes Life to run in the ofce network, please ask your companystechnical support to contact Yes Care for the details. If you are on a homenetwork, certain routers settings may prohibit Yes Life from running properly.Kindly call our Yes Care team for help.

    Q: I have an existing version of Yes Life already installed and I want tomanually update it to the latest version that Ive downloaded or using thebundle installer on the CD.A: You must uninstall the previous version of Yes Life rst. It is not necessary torestart your computer if you uninstalled Yes Life. If you are installing the bundleinstaller from the CD which also installs Connect, you must uninstall the existing

    Connect and restart your computer rst.

    Q: Adobe Air is asking for an update. Should I update?A: Yes Life requires Adobe Air to be installed and updates on Adobe Air willallow Yes Life to function properly. It is highly recommended that Adobe Air beupdated when prompted. Please note that Yes Life might not launch immedi-ately after Adobe Air is updated. Please view the troubleshooting section to seehow to launch Yes Life without trouble.

    Q: I noticed Yes Life downloaded an update without my knowledge. Will Ibe charged if Im on the Yes 4G Network?

    A: You will not be charged with data usage for the updates from Yes if you areconnected via the Yes 4G Network. In fact, you can still view www.yes.my evenwhen you are out of credit.

    Q: My Friend sent me a request but I didnt accept it immediately. The next

    time I sign in, its gone!A: Currently, Friend request only stays on the computer where you received thenotication. Signing into another computer will not display the Friend requestnotication.

    Q: How do I see my Friends presence information, which tells me whentheyre online?A: There are two ways to see a Friends presence information:

    First, we have created a special group called Favorites. All Friendsin your Favorites group will show updated presence in real-time.

    You should move all of your most-frequently contacted Friends intothe Favorites group.

    Second, you can see the presence of any Yes Friend in another groupon the contact list by clicking once on their name in the contact list.

    Q: Loading my contacts seems to take a long time.A: If you have a lot of contacts and Friends, Yes Life may take a few moments todisplay them all.

    Q: Why cant I send a message to more than one recipient at a time?A: We plan to include this in the next version of Yes Life coming soon.

    Q: Where are my SMS messages that I have received earlier?A: The system stores up messages from up to three sign in sessions only.

    Q: Can I sign in to Yes Life and on my Buzz phone at the same time?

    Yes you can. However, if you sign in to Yes Life on another computer, it will endthe previous Yes Life session. There are also some small differences in terms ofuser experience:

    When editing your Prole or Address Book on the Yes Life, the IM andSocial Network elds will not display on the Buzz.

    When updating presence status in Buzz, that status overwrites theAbout Me eld in Yes Life.

    When you create a group in Yes Life, it will not sync the group to theBuzz and vice versa.

    Q: What is a Prole?A: A prole is information about yourself, including your current status update,that you share with your Yes Friends. We recommend starting by setting up aprole photo of yourself so your friends can see your photo on their contact list.

    Q: What is a Friend?A: A Friend is another Yes subscriber with whom you would like to share yourpresence (which shows your online states), status message (a personal mes-sage shared with Friends) and prole, as well as the ability to send and re-ceive video calls and instant messages. To add a Friend, just click on the mainmenu and choose Add a Friend. When a Friend sends you a request, youcan choose to Accept or Ignore by clicking on Notications at the top rightcorner on Yes Life.

    Q: Why cant I send MMS messages on Yes?

    A: We did not include MMS in Yes simply because it costs you too much for toolittle benet. With Yes, you can send a le transfer (coming soon to Yes Life) andpay for the size of the le (up to 15 times bigger than MMS), or send an email.

    Q: If I sign in from another computer, my SMS history is gone. Why?A: Currently, all received SMS messages are stored on your computer. We areworking hard to provide synchronized messages in an upcoming release.Stay tuned!

    Q: I cant see who is calling me! It shows up as an Unknown caller. Why?A: You will need to enable Caller Line Identication Presentation (CLIP). Youcan enable it by dialing the number *30# in Yes Life. You will hear a voice an-nouncement conrming CLIP has been enabled. From now on you will seecaller ID of all future calls. Please see the Value Added Services section formore details.

    Q: Im on the Yes 4G Network. Will I be charged for data used by Yes Life

    calls and SMS?A: No, you will not be charged for the data usage when making voice calls,video calls and SMS while you are on the Yes 4G Network.

    When you sign in for the fourth time, messages received from the rst sign insession will be deleted. Please note that if you uninstall Yes Life, your SMS his-tory will also be removed.

    Q: I received my SMS on Yes Life but did not get it on my Buzz.A: This will occur only if your Buzz was not connected. The SMS was successfullyreceived on Yes Life and will not be sent to the Buzz since you have received it.Vice versa, if you are connected to the Buzz but not signed in to Yes Life, onlythe Buzz will receive the SMS. If you have both Yes Life and Buzz connected,both will receive the SMS.

    Q: I am not receiving any SMS from international numbers. Whats wrong?A: Currently, you can send SMS messages to international numbers but youmay not be able to receive them. This feature is coming soon. When its ready,you wont even have to reinstall Yes Life; itll just work.

    Q: Yes Life displayed an error dialog when I tried to send an SMS.A: This indicates that the SMS was not sent successfully. Please try again.

    Q: Whats the difference between SMS and IM?A: IM stands for Instant Message. Soon, you will be able to send IMs to all yourYes Friends. Instant messages will be charged based on data usage -- a much

    better value than SMS when your Friends are on Yes!

    Yes SMS works just like youd expect -- you can send an SMS from your Yesmobile number to any other mobile number (even another Yes account). SMSmessages to other networks are limited to 160 characters, but SMS messagesto other Yes subscribers can be up to 2,295 characters long. SMS is chargedbased on how many messages you send.

    Q: How do I access my voicemail?

    A: Calling your own number using Yes Life will allow you to access your voice-mail. As a security measure, you will be asked for your password. If you areaccessing your voicemail for the rst time, the default password is 0000, andyou will be prompted to change the default password.

    Q: I totally forgot my voicemail password.A: Please call Yes Care for assistance on resetting your voicemail password.

    Q: Yes Life is not launching.A: The most likely cause of this is that a previous session of Yes Life didnt endcompletely. Please start the Windows Task Manager (press Ctrl+Shift+Esc), endany of the following processes that you see running, and try to start Yes Lifeagain. (If Windows warns you about stopping a running process, just acceptand end the process.)

    Q: How do I make long distance calls in Yes Life?

    A: Yes Life works for domestic calls to any operator or landline as well as forIDD calls. If you have difculties making an IDD call, try to use the prex + or 00.

    Q: The video call timer is not updating.A: It updates only every minute at the moment. Were adding second-by-sec-ond counting in a future release stay tuned.

    Q: Why do I see functions that I cant use?A: We designed Yes Life with the future in mind. Think of this as a sneak peek ofwhat is to come!

    Q: What are the value-added voice services provided by Yes which Yes Lifecan use?A: Currently, when you sign up for Yes, you are automatically subscribed to thefollowing 6 services for FREE:

    Q: I cant take a picture for my Prole picture the capture window justshows a blank screen.A: This occurs when there are multiple video capture drivers on the computer.To x this, please disable or uninstall the conicting drivers rst before makingthe video call. If you require assistance, please call Yes Care.

    Q: The video call is blurry!A: The most common cause of video call quality issues is the speed and stabil-

    ity of your connection. This is especially common on public Wi-Fi internet ser-vices, or when your Yes 4G signal strength is low. Otherwise, there are existingissues with certain webcam drivers which Yes Life does not fully support (yet).Please contact Yes Care so that we can get the details of your computer andincrease the supported hardware in future updates of Yes Life.

    Q: Yes Life keeps crashing or stops responding! What should I do?

    A: Dont panic! Please send the software logs for our engineers to troubleshootfor you. To do so, please go to:

    Q: Why cant I make a video call it keeps saying call ended immediatelyafter I start the call?

    A: There can be a few causes of this problem:

    Not enough balance in your account Making a video call to a Friend who has no webcam Making a video call when you dont have a webcam You have a webcam but the webcam is being used by another ap

    plication. If so, please quit all applications which may use the webcam (e.g. Skype, xlite, etc.)
