Our new focus writing genres are Narratives and Persuasive Writing, while continuing with our weekly Recounts. We will be breaking our study of narratives

into two blocks -the first block will see us read and ‘pull apart’ familiar stories, looking for setting, character,

problems and solutions. Students will then plan and write their own narratives!

We will also look at writing persuasive arguments towards the second half of the term. Students will continue to be introduced to new sight words and spelling sounds each week; and we will be supporting them to expand their

ideas when writing, while continuing to develop proficiency in the children’s developing literacy skills.

Religious Education

To Love By Working Prayer

Many people wonder at God who gave people the ability to work by caring for themselves, others and creation. Jesus wants his followers to show love by working. When Christians continue

to try to show love by working and praying they are living as God wants.

Just Imagine Jesus

Many people come to realise that God has created the gift of imagination to

help them learn. Jesus used his imagination to teach about God’s love

and to help people use their imagination to show love.

Prepare Advent

Members of God’s family prepare every year to celebrate Jesus’ birthday during

a special time called Advent. They remember and celebrate the story of

Jesus’ birthday at Christmas. Followers of Jesus also celebrate Advent and

Christmas by showing love for God and others in a variety of ways.

All parents are warmly invited to write your name on the classroom reading rosters. It is a great opportunity to interact with the children, to support their learning and to

build relationships.

If you haven’t signed a Parent Volunteer Agreement, please collect one from the

Office, and read, sign and return it to the class teacher prior to working in the

classroom, thank you.
