BOARD OF REGENTS

MINUTES June 29, 1935

A combined meeting of the Agricultural Committee and the Board of Regents was held in the Board Room, Mayo Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 29, 1935, at nine o'clock.

Present: Mr. Coffrnan, presiding; Regents Hagen, Lawson, Mayo, Murphy, Olson A. J., Rand, and Snyder.

Under the provision of paragraph 4, "Rules of the Regents, Officers of the Board," the President of the Board requested Regent Snyder, First Vice-president of the Board, to act as chairman of the meeting and Regent Snyder did so act.

Voted to approve agreement between the State Transient Activities and the University of Minnesota, filed supplement to the minutes, page 1054, covering admission of state relief transients to the University.

Voted to authorize from Reserve an allotment of $6,800 to the Department of Sociology for the training of relief workers, in accordance with request dated June 21, 1935, filed supplement to the minutes, page 1144.

Voted on recommendation of the Graduate School to authorize the establishment of a graduate course in social work to supersede the training course for social and civic workers which was established at the Regents' meeting May 1, 1917, as a four-year undergraduate course lead- ing to the Bachelor's degree.

Voted to refer to the Buildings and Grounds Commit- tee for investigation and report offer of sale of buildings on University property owned by the Caterpillar Tractor Company.

The Comptroller reported to the Board the loss by theft of the Marine Memorial bronze tablet located near the Fourteenth Avenue gate of the Main'campus.

Voted to approve cancellation of the agreement be- tween the University Press and the late John E. Bohan, dated August 1, 1929, covering publication of his mono- graph on Students' Marks in College Courses.

Voted to approve Library membership in the Public Ownership League of America, at an annual fee of $5.

Voted to approve the appointment of Mrs. Dorothy S. Kurtzman as Secretary of The Endowment Fund of the School of Nursing.
