GCSE Geography FieldworkAs part of paper 3, you will be assessed on fieldwork you will complete in the summer term of Year 10 which includes visiting the following locations:• Carding Mill Valley, Shropshire: to study how the characteristics of the river

change from source to mouth• Chasetown: to compare the quality of life experienced by people living in three

locations in Chasetown

1 Hour 30 minutes examination (35%)

Paper 2 – Challenges in the Human Environment

1 Hour 30 minutes examination (35%)

Paper 3 – Geographical Application

The Geography department at Erasmus Darwin Academy achieve outstanding GCSE results which we are incredibly proud of. In recent years, students have achieved:• 2020: 100% grades 1-9, 80% 4-9 (standard pass), 70% 5-9 (strong pass), 51% 6-9

with 32% achieving grades 7-9• 2019: 100% grades 1-9, 79% 4-9 (standard pass), 69% 5-9 (strong pass), 50% 6-9

with 32% achieving grades 7-9• 2018: 100% grades 1-9, 78% 4-9 (standard pass), 61% 5-9 (strong pass) with 24%

achieving grades 7-9

Why study Geography?This exciting and relevant course studies Geography in a balanced framework of

physical and human themes and investigates the link between them. Students will travel the world from their classroom, exploring case studies in the United Kingdom (UK), higher income countries (HICs), newly emerging economies (NEEs) and lower income countries (LICs). Students are also encouraged to understand their role in

society, by considering different viewpoints, values and attitudes.

as part of Geography fieldtrips.

You have a passion for learning about the world we live in and the

cultures and backgrounds of people from all over the world.

You enjoy learning about current events from the local area to the

global.

the AQA A level Geography Course, which provides a smooth transition in learning from the AQA GCSE Geography course you will study in Year 10 & 11.
