Keywords - Learn off by heart:
1. The Kingdom of God - The rule of God in the hearts and minds of men. Something that is here and
now on earth in the people that let God rule their hearts and something that is in the future,
heaven , where all people follow God’s rule.
2. Initiation – Becoming part of a group
3. Covenant - An agreement or promise between God and his people.
You need to know why it is important that Catholics go to Mass:
1. It is important for Catholics to go to mass because it helps them to become closer to God because
they can listen to the teachings of Jesus and receive the body of Christ.
2. It is important for Catholics to go to mass because they can listen to the word of God through
Biblical readings and also praise and thank God or ask for forgiveness if they need support.
You can also include other approaches such as:

To hand over all my worries to the Lord
To meet God, who is the Father
It just makes me feel peaceful
You need to know why Christians should be baptised and why it is important:
1. It is important for Christians to be baptised because it allows them to become part of the Christian
faith. This is shown through the Christian name that is given to the baby and the baby being
immersed in water which washes away the original sin.
2. It is important for Christians to be baptised because at Baptism the parents and godparents agree
to bring up the baby in the Christian faith. This is shown by the Baptismal promises that are made
and also the Godfather lighting the Baptismal candle which shows protection.

You will need to explain to explain what Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God (4 PEE paragraphs):
1. Make Sacrifices
“It is harder for a Rich Man to enter the Kingdom of God than it is for a camel to pass through the
eye of a needle”
Put God first. Give money to charity. Give your time to help the sick. Put others before yourself.
2. Have the qualities of Children
Unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the Kingdom Of heaven.
Trust God, Be forgiving, Innocence, love God, faith, warmth, joy
3. Show humility.
Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven
Make God the most important thing in your life - not yourself. Don’t be arrogant, know what your
weaknesses are and pray to God to help you overcome them.

4. The Beatitude says stand up for injustice.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom Of heaven.
Speak out against bullying. Make a stand against Poverty like CAFOD do. Speak out for the Poor like
Oscar Romero who was shot in El Salvador whilst saying Mass.
You could also include other approaches or mention these parables:
Parable of the pearl and treasure - the Kingdom is more precious than anything else and worth
making sacrifices for.
Parable of the Mustard Seed and yeast - Jesus tells us these to teach us that the Parable is growing.
Parable of the Sower – Jesus tells us that He has come to bring God’s message about the Kingdom
and it grows differently in different people. Some don’t listen like the path some listen like the good
soil.
You need to explain why prayer is important for Jews and what they can use to help them pray (4 PEE
paragraphs):
1. Prayer is important for Jews because it builds the relationship between God and human beings.
Evidence of this is in the Torah says ‘...to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your
heart and with all your soul’ Deuteronomy 11:13. This is important because it shows prayer should
be completely from the heart and it allows Jews to reach out to God.
2. Prayer is important for Jews because it allows Jews to express and share their beliefs. Evidence of
this is when Jews pray together in the synagogue which is the Jewish place of worship. This is
important because it allows Jews to pray in public and much of Jewish prayer consists of reciting
the written services aloud in synagogue.
3. Prayer is important for Jews because Jews are supposed to pray three times a day; morning,
afternoon, and evening. Evidence of this is in the Jewish prayer book (the Siddur) which has special
prayers and services written for this. This is important because it allows Jews to pray to God’s
commandments and concentrate on God fully so that nothing else is on their mind.
4. Prayer is important for Jews because it allows Jews to pray completely from the heart. Jews can use
a prayer shawl called a Tallit to help them pray. Men and boys wear it to pray. This is important
because the Torah has 613 laws and the tallit shawl has 613 tassels on it - one for each law, so it
allows them to think about God during prayer.
You could also include the following:
Praying in public affirms that a person is a member of a community.
Attending regular services, and following the order of the prayer book enables a person to spend
time with God on a regular basis.
You can also pray using a teffilin. Men and boys wear it to pray. They put one on their arm and one
on their head. They also wear a cap. It is called a kippah.
Some Jewish people wear this under their clothes. It is called a tzitzit. It has four corners and
fringes.

The Black Death
The Black Death is the name for a terrible disease
that spread throughout Europe from 1347 to
1350.
There was no cure for the disease and it was
highly contagious.
The disease was carried by fleas that lived on rats.
The Black Death had killed 1/3 of the population.
Due to so many deaths, towns had to build
massive pits to put the bodies in.
Towns were very dirty and this often worsened
the spread of the disease, as rats were
attracted to the dirty streets.
Sometimes entire towns or villages were wiped
out by the plague.
People locked their doors and tried to hide in their
houses. However, this did little good in cities
where rats, and therefore fleas, were
everywhere.
The Bubonic Plague people would get really sick
including black and blue blotches all over
their body.
Magna Carta
King John signed the Magna Carta on the 19th
June 1215 at Runnymede.
Magna Carta means ‘Great Charter’.
It was a document saying the King had to
follow the laws of the land.
It also protected the people from the Kings
demands. They couldn’t just be arrested
for any reason.
This was the start of trial by jury - which
means that their civil rights are protected
more.
The Magna Carta established the principle that
the people of England, could limit the
power of a King, if he was doing things
that were not good for the country.

Year 7 Spanish Exam – Revision information. Módulo 4: ¿Dónde vives? For your Spanish exam you need to revise the following topics:
Vocabulary to describe people: hair, eyes and adjectives to describe physically and character.
Remember the rules for the Spanish adjectives: they change masculine, feminine and plural. The
vocabulary you need is in your exercise books and you will find it also in SMHK.
Vocabulary to describe where you live: type of house and adjectives.
Places in town.
Opinions, connectives: pero= but, y= and, sin embargo= however, también = also and quantifiers:
muy= very, bastante= quite, un poco = a bit.
Present tense verbs ending in – AR/ -ER / -IR. The rules and endings of the Spanish verbs are in
your exercise books but you will find them also in SMHK.
Also verbs “tener”(to have), “se (to be) and “ir” (to go) that are in your exercise book. You will also
find these verbs in SMHK
All the vocabulary you need for your exam is in your books and in SMHK.
Your exam will include: listening, reading and writing tasks.

You will be completing an examination in Design and Technology and will be asked questions related to
