Examples of support available in school• Provision of facilities for study in free periods• Help in setting up subject study groups• After school catch up on Friday: 3.30pm – 5pm• Study support sessions:

• KS5 English and Media club is in Room 14 on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30

• Art : Individual tutorials tailoring tasks to their specific needs. They also have access to the art rooms during their free periods to work on their art. Could be asked to attend after school sessions on a Wednesday and Thursday.

• Maths: Lunch time and after school sessions. Open door policy.

Attitude to Learning Definitions

1 An excellent student who applies themself consistently to all tasks both in school and at home regardless of outcome.

2 A good student who applies themself well in most class and home learning tasks completing them to the best of their ability.

3A student who can work well and complete tasks to the expected standard. Greater consistency in effort, concentration and organisation may be required.

4A student who does not show sufficient commitment in this subject which has an impact on their own learning and possibly that of their peers. They may give up easily, and lack the discipline to complete all tasks. An improvement in effort is required.

English: Take part in a writing challenge, such as National Novel Writing Month. Go to the theatre think about how well the production brought the words on the page to life?

Languages: Watch films or read newspapers in the language you’re studying.

Science: Perform scientific experiments and studies at home. E.g. for biology you could observe the nature in your back garden. Take part in National Science and Engineering Week.

Geography: Field trips beyond the classroom. Visit a variety of environments and conduct your own research on what you observe. Read National Geographic.

Maths: Enter maths competitions.

Computing: Visit Bletchley Park.

History: Volunteer at a National Trust house to demonstrate your love of History.

Art: Visit art galleries and record your responses to the art you see. Build a varied portfolio.

Music: Challenge yourself to create a soundtrack to a snippet of film without knowing the original.
