Year 1 lessons w/b 4th May 2020 Monday 4th May 2020 Maths- Learning Outcomes: I am learning to add three small numbers. Revise number bonds to 10 and doubles. This will help you when adding three numbers this week, which I will be explaining in more detail later.

Once you have practiced number bonds to 10 and doubling numbers, now you are ready to start adding three numbers using these skills. Look at these three numbers:

2, 5, 5 What is the best way to find the total of these three numbers? Can you spot any doubles or number bonds to 10? Well done for spotting double 5. What is double 5? If we know 5 + 5 = 10, then all you have to do is add 2 more. 10 + 2 = 12. You can work this out in a number of different ways. Challenge: Now look at these three numbers: 8 + 3 + 1= Are there any doubles or number bonds in this sum?... No What can we do to work this out if we cannot use our number bonds or doubling number skills? First add 8 and 3. Put the biggest number in your head (8) and then using your fingers add three more. This equals to 11. Now put 11 in your head and add on 1 more. The answer is 12.

Using these skills, work out the answers to the following sums in your exercise books. Note: There are Easy, Middle or hard sums. Pick the one that suits you and try to challenge yourself. Easy Middle Hard 2+2+1= 4+4+2= 3+3+3= 2+2+6= 5+5+4= 6+4+1= 2+8+3=

R.E- Our new R.E topic this term is all about Islam. The big question is ‘What does it mean to be a Muslim?’ Learning Objective: I can reflect on what a story might show about Muslim beliefs. The message: Amira loves chocolate so much that every night before she goes to sleep, she asks God to make everything chocolate. On Eid ul-Fitr, she wakes up to find a totally chocolate world! At first she loves her new world, but when she discovers that she misses all the beautiful colours in nature, she realizes that God, the Creator, knows best. Chocolate: it’s undeniably irresistible, and in one form or another, adored by many. This book is brilliant to refer to when children ask for things, and want things their way, the book lets us figure out for ourselves that maybe having things the way Allah has made them is the best way.

What is Eid ul-Fitr? Eid ul Fitr is a Muslim holiday celebrated when Ramadan, the month of fasting, finishes. Muslims do not fast on Eid ul-Fitr as it is not allowed. When the new moon is seen after month of Ramadan,the next day is Eid ul-Fitr. After the Eid Prayer, The Muslim greet each other. Activity: Design a new front cover for the story. Use this 100 square to add 10 to a 2-digit number. Remember, when adding 10 more you go down the square. Find the number 15. 10 more in the number below 15, which is 25. So 10 more than 15 is 25. Now find 10 more than 28. Which number is bellow 28? 38. Therefore 10 more than 28 is 38.
