Lucky 13 sees Fiona Boyes, winner of 2003’s International Blues Challenge, building on her success as an acoustic performer to record a tour-de-force of electric blues, swing, rockabilly, and every style of blues in between. Recorded in Austin TX, Fiona is joined by a full band including special guests Marcia Ball, “Steady Rollin’” Bob Margolin, and Kaz Kazanoff & the Texas Horns.
Boyes is a complete package as a vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter, as well as a tireless perfomer, having toured her native Australia with some of Blues’ most legendary artists, including Bob Margolin, Hubert Sumlin, and Alvin Youngblood Hart. On her last trip to America she performed 75 dates in 90 days, and plans an even longer stay in the US this summer/fall to support this album’s release with intensive touring.
