A warm welcome to all our new children and families who have started over the last few weeks. Everyone is settling in well and many new friendships are developing. This term we have been delving deeper into books as the children’s interest focus. One of our favourite books has been ‘Ten Apples up on Top’ by Dr. Seuss, a rhyming story where the characters balance apples on their heads. We practiced balancing bean bags on our own heads and decided to make our own version of the story for our bookshelf called - ‘We have Apples up on Top.’ Parent Contributions Working in partnership with families It is very important to us that parents feel involved in their children’s education and add to our class learning experiences. A couple of weeks ago some of the children noticed some hot air balloons in the sky on their way to school. We took this opportunity to learn about hot air balloons and how they float. Last week we even made our own hot air balloon using a hair dryer and some garbage bags.

Insects have been an ongoing interest this year. The children are often finding different ones in our yard. This has encouraged conversations about the sort of environments insects need as well as how we can look after them. We have also been doing some gardening with Ken and learning how to look after our plants.

Dates to remember:

Monday 12.6.17 Queen’s Birthday Public holiday Tuesday 13.6.17 Report writing day Friday 30.6.17 Term 2 finish (2.30pm - 3.00pm pick up time.)

We have also been putting on our chef hats and doing some cooking. This has opened up discussions about the types of foods we eat as well as encouraging social skills like taking turns.

If you would like any further information about the framework or to discuss anything regarding your child feel free to approach me at anytime or to arrange a parent teacher meeting. Kind regards, Miss Nadia
