Dr. Yamma Brown Daughter of James Brown, The Godfather of Soul Spokesperson for The James Brown Family Foundation Dr. Yamma Brown is the youngest daughter of Deidre Jenkins and James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. Dr. Brown has worked in the field of pharmacy for 12 years and held many positions of high regard. However, her true passion, to build the legacy of her father, has rested on the forefront of her heart. She has an extensive knowledge of several areas in the pharmacy arena, including working in the hospital, retail, long term care settings and many more areas of expertise. Yet, her passion for music education comes bursting out of her message as if it were the ultimate remedy. Family is most important to her and she has been heavily involved in her father’s estate planning since his death on December 25, 2006. She has taken many steps to accomplish her goal to build his legacy. Her involvement with The James Brown Family Foundation captures and feel the magnitude of his influence throughout history and offers opportunity for today's children. With the support of her family and The James Brown Family Foundation, Dr. Brown she has become a spokesperson for spreading this legacy and enhancing the lives of today's children through music programs. She has been personally impacted by music, and as mother of two beautiful children of her own, she believes that there are tremendous benefits in such programs. Dr. Brown is building this vision. She is currently seeking strategic partnerships and personalities that have a true passion for the promotion and support of music based programs in elementary, middle and high schools. Her ultimate goal is to implement a program named after the timeless American James Brown hit, titled "I Feel Good." "I Feel Good" about Music in Schools is an initiative to promote and support the implementation of music programs in education. These programs should provide students with tangible music education that involves music business, music training, history, guest speakers and music appreciation as a fundamental element in school curriculum. Her initiative is based on viable research and statistics that foster a belief that music programs enhance the lives of children academically, emotionally and creatively. Mission Statement To promote and support the implementation of music programs within education as a tribute to her father James Brown, The Godfather of Soul and a true legend in music history. Plan of Action Through strategic partnerships, Dr. Brown is passionately prepared to materialize her vision. Her goal is to participate in national, cross cultural programs that promote her mission and the values of her father. Involvement in key programs will become a platform to call many other celebrities, personalities, government officials and corporations to action. She is actively pursuing opportunities to speak on related topics and available for meet & greets, board participation, public service announcements, and community involvement. Program Details James Brown, was not only known for him impact as an entertainer but also his role in the community. He showed a dedication to youth with the gun lock program to get guns out of the schools, with the motto "killing is out; school is in.” He was also recognized by the state of Georgia for his community efforts. Dr. Brown's initiative, "I Feel Good" about Music in Schools, is an extension of such benevolence. Campaign Goals • To serve as a call to action for many who have been touched by the life of James Brown. • To offer programs within elementary, middle, and high schools. • To assist in promoting music curriculum and funding for fundamental curriculum.
