Y4 Summer 2 Enrichment – The Oceans
Lesson 7, 16.7.20
The Plastic Ocean
• We hope you’ve enjoyed learning all about the oceans this term, and thank you to everyone who suggested it as a topic.
• To finish off, we are going to look at the dangers that face our oceans from pollution.
• Read the information slides, and then follow the journey of a plastic straw after it has been used – you may be surprised where it ends up.
• At the end of the lesson there is a simple and effective way that can help you make a difference to save the oceans.
• Thank you for all the work you have sent in this term during our Oceans topic. We wish you a very happy holiday, and look forward to seeing you in September.
Activity: the story of a straw
Dan uses a plastic straw to drink his juice when he goes for a picnic in his local park. How might this end up on his dinner plate? Write out the statements on the next slides in the correct order to tell the story of Dan’s plastic straw. Nb. Four of the statements (1, 3, 5 and 7) are for information only, and are not part of the story.
How did you do?
