I set a very modest training schedule for the first few weeks to ease you into the training. If you have found it difficult then the shorter event is the right one for you. The training so far has you progressing nicely to complete this distance in good shape. The training is the same for the shorter course this week so this should allow you to get into a good routine. If you feel you are ready to take on the challenge of the longer super course then we need to progress the distance and quality of training over the next six weeks. I encourage you to think about running the longer course as it is arguably one of the best in Australia. What other event takes you through a tunnel under a river, over a beautiful bridge with unique city views, and then follows the coastline to bring you back through the city to a picturesque parkland destination? I get inspired to go out and run just thinking about it! For the super course I have started to increase your distance and expect you to exercise at least four times a week. The total covered will be 19km which is over the distance of our goal and the challenge now is to progress from taking a week to cover it to doing it in just one effort. As a wise man once said, every journey starts with the first step, so by the weekend we will be well on our way.
