The United Way of Greater Augusta had a very good year. Thanks to you,

the donors, partner agencies, and volunteers, we were able to realize our

mission, which is to serve as a catalyst to improving the lives of people

in our community.

Special thanks go to the donors (individual and corporate) who enabled

UWGA to meet its financial goal of $700,000 so funds could be made

available to the nonprofits of our community to address such needs as

child abuse and neglect, mental health needs of children and adults, lack

of transportation to sheltered workshop so those with disabilities can

work, quality child care, literacy needs of adults and children, after school

and leadership programs for youth, adult day care and care for those with

disabilities so caregivers can work, household repairs (roofs, ramps, etc.)

so people can stay in their homes longer, health care for those without

insurance, emergency food assistance, and emergency utility and

housing assistance.

We are also grateful to all the volunteers (individual and corporate) that

work to make our community a better place to live through the

community day of caring (250 volunteers – 15 sites), stuff the bus (school

supplies valued at $28,000.00) distributed to schools in area with the

highest rates of free or reduced lunch rates, and other volunteers that

help to bring visibility to the needs in the community and work together

to address them.

United Way of Greater Augusta is grateful to be of service to the

Staunton, Augusta and Waynesboro communities as we work to honor

our values of being community-focused while working through

partnerships to address community needs, serving as wise stewards of

the community’s resources entrusted to us, and being accountable and

transparent to the community.
