Aim

• To enhance the proficiency of the port facility security team in controlling of access, maintaining contiguous zone security and responding to contingencies.


Objectives

• Participants will explain the appropriate measures to be taken, in accordance with security plan, to handle security incidents and list the actions to be taken, in accordance with procedures, when responding to security incidents


Desired Outcomes

• Be familiar with access control procedures• Know how to respond correctly to

contingencies relating to access control and contiguous zone security.

• Be able to carry out their duties relating to access control and contiguous zone security confidently.

• Suggest changes or improvements to the security plan and procedures, if any.

Scenario• The sharp and severe economic downturn has led to

high unemployment amongst the population and growing poverty situation. However, the port facility has so far been not affected as badly as it plays an important role in the import of essential goods and export of agricultural and manufactured products of the country.

• The security situation has deteriorated with petty thefts and robbery becoming more common. The robbery and thefts have affected both private homes as well as offices. The police have warned that the spate of crimes is likely to increase and may even affect places that have security forces in place.
