G4XtremeFeaturesIndividualCylinder,ClosedLoop,KnockControl
zoneswithinthesetablesaremodifieddynamicallybytheECUupondetectionofknock.Timingisretardedondetectionof knock in theparticular zone, usingconfigurablesensitivityandclampingproperties.Thisallhappenswithintheboundsofmicroseconds.
TheG4Xtremecanbeconfigured togradually re-introduce timing advance, at a rate governed by the speedanddelayofwhichtheuserhasspecifiedinthesettings when knock is no longer detected.
UptoSixDimensionsofFuel&IgnitionTuningUnder most circumstances a 3D Fuel Table issufficient. RPM is typically used for one axiswithload (typically represented by MAP or MGP) onanother axis. The 3rd axis/dimension is the fuelzone value.
This 3D mapping will bevery familiar to the average tuner and a 3D surfacerepresenting the fuelingcan be easily visualised or physically displayed byselectingSurfaceGraph.
Inspecialcases3Dmappingmay not be adequatelyflexible to cope with alloperatingparameters.
Multi-throttle turbo charged enginestypicallyshowanexampleofthis.Withthethrottlewide-openataMAPvalueof,forexample,200kPaandanenginespeedof5000rpmtheenginewillhaveconsiderablydifferentfuelingrequirements
thanwiththethrottlehalfopenandthesameMAPand engine speed. In this case the 4D FuelTabletablemaybeused.Thissecondtablemaybespannedusingthrottlepositionontheloadaxis.
Whena4D/5D/6Dtable isturnedon,itsTableActivationmode can be selected. This allows the 4D or 5D FuelTable to become active only under certain conditions. This isuseful if anexternalswitch or switching outputis required to activate thetable(e.g.switchinginthe4DFuelTablewhenthenitroussolenoid becomes active).If the table is required tobe always active, set this adjustmenttoAlwaysON.
Aswithalltables,4Dand5DFuelTablescanhavetheirX andY axis parameters selected and theirrow/columnlocationsadjusted.
Knock, also known as detonation refers to thespontaneouscombustionofanair/fuelmixtureinsideacombustionchamber.Knockisinducedbyexcessivepressurewithinthecombustionchambercausingtheair/fuelmixturetoselfdetonate.Thesepressurescanbearesultofhighenginetemperature,inappropriateturboboostpressure,excessiveinletairtemperature,and ignition timing which is over advanced.
The Link G4 Xtreme ECU is capable of detectingknock by using factory, or after market knock sensors. By applying user configurable ‘time windowing’techniques and filtering options the Xtreme willdetermine which cylinder has knock, and the severity of the knock. 3D knock level threshold tables areusedtopreventfalsedetectioncausedbymechanicalengine noise.
Each individual cylinder can be assignedwith a 3Dknock ignition trim table. These tables are generally spanned using ‘RPM’ and ‘Load’ as their axis, and
DynamicConfigurationThismeans that the tuner cannowconfigure theECU to meet any requirements they may deemnecessary.Previouslytunershadtooperatewithinwhat the Link engineers defined, at the time ofwriting the firmware.The result of this absoluteflexibilityisthatG4ECUscanbecustomisedbythetunertooptimiseanyengine.
FullyConfigurable,VariableCamControlPrecision closedloop cam controlforuptofourcams,i n d e p e n d e n t l ycontrolled, with feedback so that the ECU knowsexactly where they are at all times. Precise camcontrolisthewindowtoperformanceformodern,high performance engines and G4 ECUs provideprecisioncamcontrolasastandardfeature.
“QuickKeysforFastTuning”TunersaredelightinginthenewPCLink4.OneofthemanyreasonsforthisisthatallmajortuningcanbedonewithoutusingthemouseusingQuickKeys.Anotherpowerfulfeatureisthecopy/pastefunctionwithinthevariousmaps.
Diagnostics—“What’sBeenHappening”G4ECUs log all information fordisplay at a laterdateviaPCLink.Max/mintemperatures,pressures,number of times limits are hit etc. are all recorded.
CompatibilityEngine, triggering andVVT (variable valve timing)is pre-configured and selectable via “drop-down”menus.Ifyourengineisnotlistedyoucanconfigureyourownrequirements.

QuickTuneYourFuelUsing PCLink, QuickTune is an interactivetuningtoolthatassistsintimeefficientfueltuning. A graphical display ofTargetAFR(desired AFR) and Actual AFR (measuredAFR)isprovided.Adualpointergaugeallowsthe tuner to quickly see how closeActualAFRistotheTargetAFR.QuickTunecanbesetuptooperateovertheentirefueltableorjustoveraparticulararea.QuickTunecanbeusedinManualorAutomaticmodes.InManualmode,QuickTuneguidesyoutocellcentering and advises you when is a suitable timetomakeafueltableadjustment.Withthepressof a key a calculated adjustmentismade. Oftenonlyoneor twoadjustments arerequired to tune each cell. InAutomatic modeQuickTunedoesalltheadjustmentsforyou.This
