Loading Paper
Caution
• Do not overload paper trays. • Make sure to fan paper before loading. • Do not slam or kick the paper trays. These actions may move
or flex the side guide and result in jams and skewed output. • Load only one ream at a time to maintain stack integrity. Notes • If the system is currently printing from the tray you need to
load, you will need to pause the printer. • This guide will need to be rotated back for all other size media
in this tray. • A stop position for A4 paper must be set up by Field Service in
Europe and Asia.
1. Open the paper tray and move the paper edge guides away from the edges of the paper. For tray 2 you may need to rotate the rear stop guide.
2. Fan the new paper before placing the stack of
paper into a paper tray.
3. Place the new stack of paper in the paper tray and make sure the feed direction is correct. Also, make sure the height sensor is not pinned down by the paper stack.
4. For paper tray 2, when using 8.5 in x 11" media,
rotate the white rear stop guide at the back of the tray, as shown in the graphic below.
5. For paper tray 3 or 4, adjust the green baffle at
the back of the tray to prevent larger paper stacks, such as 279 mm x 432 mm (11 x 17"), from skewing when closing the paper tray.
6. When loading a different size or type of paper in a
tray, re-program the tray at the Free Flow Print Server for the correct size, weight, type, color and other attributes.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Managing Paper Curl if Your System has an SEM Required Stock not Loaded Optimizing job recovery for jobs containing Serialized Stocks
Managing Paper Curl (SEM only)
A properly adjusted Decurler prevents paper curl and paper jams. How do I adjust for curl? • Always make sure the Decurler Knob in the print engine is set
to MIN. • Decide if the curl in the stacked output is up or down. • Use Manual Mode only if you are not successful with the
Auto Mode.
Up Curl
Down Curl
Auto Decurl Mode 1. Select Printer [Adjust Decurler].
2. Select the Auto Decurler radio button, select [OK] and test.
3. If further adjustment is needed, move the slider bar:
• From -1 to -3 to remove downcurl • From 0 to +3 to remove upcurl
4. Select [OK].
Manual Decurl Mode 1. Select Printer [Adjust Decurler].
2. Select the Manual Decurler radio button.
3. Move the slide bar:
• From -1 to -5 to remove downcurl • From 0 to +5 to remove upcurl
4. Select [OK].
Required Stock Not Loaded
Tips on How to Avoid Receiving the "Required Stock not Loaded" Message The best way to avoid receiving "Required Stock not Loaded" messages is to load and program the feeder tray before you program or submit the job. For example, if your job needs to use blue stock, make sure you load the blue stock in the feeder tray and then program the feeder tray for blue stock. The job can then be programmed to use blue stock.
• If you loaded blue stock in a feeder tray, but forgot to program it for blue stock (e.g. the color was programmed as white), then the job needing the blue stock cannot print. If possible, when programming the job's Paper Stock, select Loaded Stocks. These are stocks currently loaded in the feeder trays. Using Loaded Stocks is especially helpful when using multiple stocks in one job.
• When jobs include banner pages and/or error pages make sure
to have the correct stock loaded in the feeder trays. • For saved jobs, review the stock programming prior to
submitting the job and make sure all stocks are loaded and programmed correctly.
• Be sure to review any Special Pages stock programming for
Covers, Inserts and Exception Pages. • When loading new paper, make sure you program the stock
correctly for type, weight, color, and other attributes. • Check to make sure you are loading the paper correctly, either
LEF (Long Edge Feed) or SEF (Short Edge Feed), according to your finishing devices. For example, some finishers require SEF for folding or booklet making.
Optimizing Job Recovery for Jobs Containing Serialized Stocks
If a system fault condition occurs and requires a dynamic purge of sheets, the machine will shut down after the purge is completed. Similarly, if the system shuts down hard with a fault condition, after clearing the jam the system will cycle up, purge the paper path contents, and shut down again. After both of these two types of conditions, a status message will display to instruct the operator about job recovery. Be sure to disable Serialized Stock Mode when finished to restore full auto job recovery.
To Enable Serialized Stocks Mode: 1. From the FreeFlow Print Server user interface, select [Printer:
Media Optimization]. The window containing all selections displays. Serialized Stock is above the area containing Media Optimization Switches.
2. Select [Serialized Stock Mode] and [OK]. You are now running in Serialized Stock mode which will print your job as programmed and will only prompt you for job recovery assistance following a system fault condition.
3. When you have completed running jobs that include serialized stock, make sure you exit the Serialized Stock mode by selecting [Printer: Media Optimization] and clearing [Serialized Stock Mode] from inside the window containing the selections.
