DESCRIPTIONTheXC6210andXC6410useaPWMregulatedpowersupplyforsuperiorsoundandoutputwattage.AlloftheconnectionsandcontrolsfortheXC6210andXC6410areconvenientlylabeledandlocatedononesideoftheamplifier.Toensurethebestpossibleelectricalconnections,thepower,speakerandRCAinputsarecorro-sionresistant.AnadditionalbenefitoftheXC6410istheabilitytocreatea2,3,or4configuration.Intheeventofcomponentfailureorashortcircuit,theXC6210andXC6410incorporateprotectioncircuitsandATCfuseprotectiontopreventdamagetotheamplifier.

• Input Gain Controls:Allowyoutomatchthesourceunit’soutputvoltagetoachieve maximumoutputfromtheamplifier.Theamplifiercanaccommodateinputlevels fromvirtuallyanyheadunitwithaninputrangeof200mVto6.0V. Regardinghigh-levelinput:Pleaseuseincludedhigh-leveltoRCAadapters.

• Bass Boost:Theaddedboostproducesrich,lowbassfrequenciesthatareusually difficulttoreproduceinthevehicle/marineaudioenvironment.Bassboostfrequency (50Hz,0~12dB). NOTE:XC6410–If2CHor4CHinputisselected,bassboostonlyaffectsCH1/CH2. If2CHBBinputisselected,bassboostwillaffectCH1/CH2/CH3/CH4.

INSTALLATION

ThissectionsuggestsMountingandWiringPrecautionsforinstallingtheClarionXC6210orXC6410.Ifyoudonotpossesthenecessarytoolsandinstallationexperience,donotattempttoinstalltheseamplifiers.Instead,contactyourlocalClarionaudiodealertoperformtheinstallation.

MOUNTING PRECAUTIONS

Priortomountingtheamplifier,makesureitissafetomounttheamplifierindesiredlocation.Failuretodosocanresultinseriousdamagetothevehicle/boat.Extracareandattentionisnecessaryinmarineinstallationsduetotheuncertaintyofwaterconditionsenvironment.Stainlesssteelhardwareisrecommendedformarineapplications.Additionalprecautionsandsuggestions:1.Forthemostefficientcooling,mounttheamplifiersocoolairrunsalongthe lengthoftheheatsink,ratherthanacrossthem.Toincreaseairmovementand circulation,acoolingfancanbeinstalled.2.Mounttheamplifieronarigidsurface;avoidmountingtosubwooferenclosuresor areaspronetovibration.3.Priortodrillingandmounting,makesuretheproposedmountingholeswillnotcut intothefueltank,fuellines,brakelines,electricalwiring,orthebodyofvehicleor boat.4.Donotmounttheamplifierwhereitissusceptibletowater.

WIRING PRECAUTIONS

Readallofthewiringprecautionspriortomakinganyconnections.Ifyouareunsureand/ordon’thavethenecessaryinstallationhardware,contactyourlocalClarionaudiodealertoperformtheinstallation.1.Beforeyoubegintheinstallation,makesurethevehicleisnotrunningandisin theOFFposition.2.Disconnectthenegative(-)leadofthebattery(orbatteries)beforemakingany powerconnections.3.Whenmakingconnections,besurethateachconnectioniscleanandsecure. Insulatefinalconnectionswithelectricaltapeorheatshrinktubing.Failuretodo somaydamageyourequipment.4.Agoodgroundiscriticalfortheperformanceoftheamplifier.Agroundwire shouldberundirectlyfromthebatterytotheamplifier(marineapplication).Use blackinsulated10-gaugeorlargerwirefortheamplifier’sground(-)powerlead.5.Addafuseholderandfuseatthepositive(+)terminalofthebattery. Thefuseratingshouldequalthetotalcurrentconsumptionatfulloutputofthe amplifier(s).Useredinsulated10-gaugeorlargerwirefortheamplifier’spositive (+)powerlead.Donotinstallthefuseuntilthecompleteinstallationhasbeen performed.6.Whenreplacingtheamplifier’sfuse,alwaysuseonehavingthesameamperage rating.Substitutingahigherratedfuseoraslow-blowtypecanresultinserious damagetotheamplifier.

7.Whencreatingpassageholesforpowercables,RCA’scables,andspeakerwires, usegrommetstoeliminateanysharpedgescreatedduringdrilling.Thiswill protectthewirefrombeingdamagedandpreventashortcircuit.8.Extracablecancausesignallossandactasan“antenna”fornoise.Useonly high-qualityRCAcablesthatarenolongerthannecessary.9.Inmultipleamplifiersystems,itisrecommendedtousearelayontheremote turn-onleadoftheradio.

ADJUSTING THE INPUT GAIN CONTROLAftercompletingtheinstallation,followthesestepstosettheInputGainControl.

1.SetInputGainControltoMIN(counterclockwise).2.Poweronsource.SetallToneorEqualizationControlsto“flat”positionsandset Loudnessoff.3.PlayaCD,settheSourceVolumeControlto75%ofmaxlevel.4.SlowlyadjusttheInputGainControlofamplifier.Stopwhenyouhearaslight distortionofaudio.NOTE: Iftheaudiosystemusesanequalizer,setitsfrequencycontrolsto“flat” positions.

SETTING THE CROSSOVER

TheClarionXC6210andXC6410featurefullyadjustablehighandlowpasscrossovers.Tosetthecrossover,followthesesteps.1.UsingtheCrossoverModeSwitch,selectthedesiredmode:LOWforLowPass, HIGHforHighPassorFULLforFullRange.2.UsingtheFREQ(Hz)SelectionControl,selectthedesiredfrequency.Ifthe desiredfrequencyexceedstherangeoftheFREQ(Hz)SelectionControl,slide theCrossoverFrequencyMultiplierSwitchtox10. •Forexample,50Hzx10=500Hzor500Hzx10=5kHzNOTE:x10MultiplierisavailableonXC6210andXC6410(onlyonCH3/CH4)

SETTING THE BASS BOOST1.SetBassBoostto0dB(counterclockwise).2.Listentoavarietyofmusicstyles(e.g.Rock,Rap,etc.)andslowlyadjustthe BassBoostcontrol(clockwise)torealizethebestbassresponse.

FINAL SYSTEM CHECK1.Poweronthesourceunit.SlowlyincreasetheVolumeControlandlistento theaudio.Ifthereisnoaudioorifyouhearanystatic,distortion,pleasecheck theconnectionsandrefertotheTroubleshootingsection.Dependingonyour systemdesign,thelevelsmaybecomequiteloudevenatlowVolumeControl settings.Untilyougetan“audiofeel”ofthesystem’spower,usecarewhen adjustingcontrols.

2.Check“Source”Balance(LeftandRight)andFader(FrontandRear)toensure properinstallation.

3.Increasethevolumeandverifythattheamplifierreproducesaudio(atfull frequencies)withoutdistortion.Ifyouheardistortion,checktheconnectionsand verifythattheInputGainControlissetproperly.
