Designing for the Xbox LIVE environmentKeep it SimpleViewers don’t read TV Screens. Keep text short and to a minimum.

Keep it bigSmall graphics and thin lines below 2px in thickness don’t render well on TVs. Best to avoid them.

Design from a distanceRemember viewers are not seeing the screen up close, so content needs to be larger and clear enough to be viewed from 6-8 ft away with no eye strain.

Easy NavigationThe navigation of your design should be simple and intuitive. Remember that users are navigating your BDE with a controller that has movements that are limited to left, right, up and down as well as the “X, Y, A, B” buttons.

Aspect RatioAll BDEs should be optimally designed to work within a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Background imagery will always be subject to cropping on the Standard Definition (SD) television.

FontsThe recommended minimum font size for use in your BDE and banner ad is 18 point. All text should be legible from a comfortable viewing distance approximately 6 – 8 ft. away.
