LINE-SCAN CAMERA 2D AREA-SCAN CAMERA
Line-scan cameras are ideal for in-line X-rayphotography, enabling capture of high resolution X-rayimages of objects moving on equipment such as beltconveyors. Used for a wide range of x-rayobservations, for example detection of objects mixedin with food products and electronic components. Thewide inspection width (up to approximately 4029mm)facilitates internal observation of large items notpreviously able to be readily inspected.
Area-scan cameras employ high resolutioncharacteristics (minimum 25m), and as such are idealfor in-line non-destructive testing of small electroniccomponents and PCBs. When fitted with an imageintensifier the high sensitivity allows real-timeacquisition of high contrast images even with theextremely small currents generated by micro-focus X-ray tubes. The various image processing functions ofthe controller may be selected at the press of a buttonfor enhancement of image quality.

Line-scan cameras allow superior high-speed processing, and provide imaging functions with a single scan. They aretherefore used frequently for inspection on continuousconveyor belts in applications such as in-line inspection offood products.
Area-scan cameras allow acquisition of high-sensitivityimages at high resolution using 2D sensors, and arefrequently used for in-line inspection of small electroniccomponents and PCBs, and in applications such asbiological research.

Using the optional processor board(installedintoacomputer),theimagecanbe paused or scrolled, and the sensorhead controlled arbitrarily.
The total cost was reduced by integrating the main components and adopting DCpower, which can be supplied externally.
In addition to digital dark correction, a mechanism for making automatic analogdark corrections was newly adopted, and the sensor life has been increased.
Using the commercial frame grabberboard, the 10-bit digital output enableseasy connection to a computer or otherexternal instrument. Acquired imageprocessing, dataprocessingandfilingcanbeperformed, allowingtheconfigurationofanysystem.

An area of 256 mm (0.4 mm pitch) can beinspected. Moreover, the area can beexpanded to the maximum detectionwidth of 4,096 mm (optional).
Detection width of 256mm
In addition to a high sensitivity, a highspatial resolution (pitch size: 0.4 mm) of1/640* is realized. Even low-contrast orsmall-sized foreign bodies inside anobject can be clearly observed. The minimum detectability differs according tocertainconditions, suchas the dimensionof theobjectbeingchecked, thequalityof thematerial, the X-ray intensity, and the transport speed.

The ability to inspect the contents of packages non-destructivelyand without contact makes the X-ray line-scan camera ideal for awide range of applications, including detection of foreign objects infood products and electronic components. The Hamamatsu Photonics X-ray line-scan camera line-upincludes the standard C7390 and the low-cost C8133 for OEMapplications. These X-ray line-scan cameras employ the 50mmthin sensor head, ideal for installation within belt conveyors. The wide inspection width possible facilitates observation of thecontents of large items, a process which has proved extremelydifficult in the past. The digital signal output may be sent to acomputer via a commercially available frame grabber board forprocessing and analysis, and to form a high added-value systemin combination with measuring and packaging equipment.

Image Intensification (C6086-30 Series)Enhancing analog contrast allows low-contrast images to bedisplayed clearly. Processing removes noise and irregulari-ties from the image as a matter of course.
The use of image intensification allows for a high-sensitivityvideo system. High sensitivity imaging capabilities allow de-tection of weak X-rays, and operation at low line weight set-tings. Imaging at low line weight settings simplifies systemdevelopment and reduces equipment size, thus minimizingthe effect on the human body.

FEATURES Micro focal spot RS-232C interface Easy handling
The Hamamatsu microfocus X-ray sources were developedspecifically for X-ray non-destructive inspection. These X-ray sources use an X-ray tube with a small focal spot ofseveral microns to 10 microns capable of producing a clearX-ray image even at a high magnification. The RS-232Cinterface is provided as a standard feature, allowingautomatic operation by external control. The X-ray tube hasan air-cooled and hermetically sealed structure, and isintegrated with its high voltage power supply for easyhandling. (High voltage cables are not required.)
When an object is magnified, the image taken with aconventional X-ray source is blurred. With a microfocus X-ray source, a clear im-age still can be obtained.
